She stared at me, wide eyed and cheeks as red as fresh blood.
I swallowed, my throat tightening as my fingers dug into her skin.
“I…” She tucked her lips in and cast her eyes to the floor.
I forced a chuckle. "You still think me a monster.”
"Will you protect me after you have recovered?” She asked instead, raising her eyes to look me straight in the eyes.
Suddenly she didn't look weak anymore. She looked like she could grab Blair's face and give her a slap or two.
"And what if I never recover?” I narrowed my eyes at her, holding back a grunt of pain.
"Will you stay forever then?” Her eyes turned fiercer.
My eyes turned to slits as I watched her study my face.
"Mmhm.” I nodded and jerked when I felt my joints stiffened accompanied with needle-like pains in my stomach.
"Then I'll stay loyal to you." She responded and looked away, offering her neck to me in what looked like a last offer.
Holding her closer to me than necessary, I took a long sniff of her neck and felt her shudder.
“You smell sweet." My voice turned husky as I poked my tongue out to lick the pulsating part of her neck.
She let out a low moan and when my fangs grazed her skin, she hissed.
“I'll be gentle." My voice grew soft against her neck and before she gave a nod, I sank my fangs in, breaking past the barrier of her skin and having the first taste of her blood.
My eyes rolled upwards as she let out a loud yelp.
Her rich thick blood rushed into my mouth through my fangs making my body quake with excitement.
It began to feel like the room was dissolving before my eyes then suddenly everywhere went black and it felt like I was floating through a thick mass of air.
Where was I?
I looked around slowly, trying not to let my confusion show.
'Her mind.’ The djinn's voice blared in my head.
What?
I blinked at the thick darkness.
'You have bonded with your human wife and will never get out of this space till the day she dies.’ He continued in a monotonous voice.
I growled at the thought of losing Tessa to the cold hands of death.
It felt like I had suddenly developed a heart as I felt a slight pain in my chest.
'I see you have bonded pretty fine.’
‘Shut up.’ I snarled at the djinn.
‘You might as well bid her goodbye now you're in her subconscious.’
'What do you mean?’ My eyes widened and before I could ask further questions, I felt a weak tap on my leg and my eyes snapped open.
Tessa hung limply in my arms, low whimpers escaping her lips as my lips latched on to her neck.
Retracting my fangs, I licked the punctures on her neck.
Holding her tightly in my arms, with my face drained of colour, I gently tapped her face.
“Tessa?" I croaked, a weird pain beginning to grow in my chest when she kept her eyes closed.
“Tessa." I felt my limbs beginning to grow weak.
What was this strange weakness?
'Her weakness.’
I gritted my teeth at that knowledge and at the sudden urge that zapped through me.
Giving in, I leaned in and licked her half parted lips first before slowly sucking on it.
When I felt her begin to stiffen in my arms, I stopped my act and leaned away from her.
Her large green eyes stared into mine as the corner of her lips stretched into what looked like a smile.
“You almost sucked me dry."
The tips of my fingers shook at the hoarseness of her voice. I was suddenly speechless and only snapped back to reality when she let out a weak cough.
“We should prepare to present ourselves downstairs." She struggled to sit up with my aid.
“No." I looked down at my still quivering fingers.
I saw her pause to stare at me from the corner of her eyes.
“Why?"
Raising my eyes to catch her eyes, I clenched my jaws at how pale she now looked.
“You are weak and need rest." I pretended to find it difficult to get to my feet as her shoulders shoook.
“What's funny?" I eyed her.
“My parents don't care if I die in the next five minutes.”
I stared at her, my ears already perked up, I could hear better now and my fogged mind was all cleared up.
“If I don't present myself before the stipulated time, you don't want to know what will happen." She staggered to her feet, gently swatting away my offered hand.
“I'll stand in for you." I leaned in on my cane, observing her.
“Pfft!" She clapped a hand over her lips and eyed me closely, her eyes lingering on my supposed bad leg before she shook her head.
“You can't, we will go together. Come on.” She tried pushing me to the side but I held her wrist and slammed her to my chest.
Her dull eyes turned sharp immediately and color returned to her cheeks as she glared at me.
"Go find a place to rest, I will take it up from here.” I hissed, hating the weakness I felt within me.
Her glare grew more intense but she kept her mouth shut.
Letting her go, I took two steps backwards expecting her to go find a place to rest her head and recover her strength but she just looked me in the eye.
“And who do you think you are to order me around?" Her voice was suddenly cold as her lips curled back into a snarl.
