Janus was awoken by a group of men entering his room. Although he was still aware of five of them, he couldn’t take his eyes off the sixth man, the one who was obviously in charge. He stared at him intently. He looked familiar. He’d fought with him in the farmyard. He’d seen his face each time he looked in the mirror. He was looking at himself – but a few years older.
“What’s going on? Who are you?”
The man grinned.
“Don’t you recognise me, Janus?”
“Who are you? Why do you look like me?”
The man tutted.
“Actually, you look like me. Isn’t it obvious who I am, Janus?”
“Isn’t what obvious?”
