Back at the Berkshire laboratory, Janus was now a lively six-year-old. There was nothing exceptional about his physical appearance, except that he was really only six days old. He should still have been rolling about in a crib, trying to focus his fresh little eyes on the objects that surrounded him and trying to make primitive sense of the world around him. Instead, he was playing football in his fenced-off area of the lab.
He enjoyed physical exercise and spent a lot of time running, skipping, doing somersaults, and swinging and climbing on the play apparatus that now formed part of his environment. For some reason, he seemed to particularly enjoy hopping.
Mentally he was in advance of his years too and he had an insatiable appetite for learning. He
