Chapter 7: The Start of the Chase
It’s already Monday. The Principal told me not to attend class anymore. He said that it’ll be a difficult punishment, so he told me to prepare. Anyway, The school has 4 gates. The main, the back, right, and left gate.
It’s 5 in the morning and I am awake as a Grizzly bear. I can’t let the bad boys be ahead of me if I want this punishment to be over soon.
According to Fawn’s chit-chat with me yesterday, the delinquents always use the left gate every Thursday. Which makes sense. That part of the school is very much isolated. That gate is used by students who own bicycles, it’s their only exit.
The main gate is an entrance for students who have chauffeurs, and they use the back gate as their exit. While bikers use the right as their entrance, and they can never go out at the left gate once they’re inside. It’s their only exit, and it’s school hours, students who aren’t boarding in the school are not allowed to go out if ever they forgot to bring something with them.
Even if their house is just nearby, bikers can’t use the back nor the left gate. The only time they’d be allowed to go out that gate is, duh! after 4 pm.
According to the contract, their time of departure is uncertain. Sometimes, they would leave in the morning, but sometimes they would be seen leaving in the afternoon. That is why I woke up and prepared early to finish setting up the trap I was making and get this over with already.
To give you an idea, the trap I was making is the kind of trap the cannibals in the movie “Wrong Turn” usually uses, that is if you saw the movie. It’s the string trick one. Feet stumbling on a string and something kills the person, that! kind of trap. But mine doesn’t kill, no no, it only traps you inside a wooden box that will fall from where it’s tied, and voila! Aren’t I so considerate and smart?
I even put holes around the wooden box to prevent them from suffocating. And for that holes not to go to waste, I just need to lock them up faster than “the flash” so they can’t escape. ‘Cause if they do, all this effort will just go straight down the drain.
Now, for the fun part. I will now hide on top of a tree and wait for them. Although, I’m quite clueless about how many of them are going to try and escape. But, that’s alright, catching one would still be an achievement. So this has to be successful because I have already put so much time and effort into this. This can’t go to waste.
I checked my wristwatch, quarter to 6 is still early. It seems like I will be waiting here for quite a while. I think I’ll take a short nap for now. I haven’t had much sleep, 4hrs is not enough. And it’s all because I just want this task to end as soon as possible.
*.*.*
I woke up to the noise of a loud thump. I opened my eyes, astonished by the dimmed surroundings. What the?! Did I slept that long and wake up to the darkness of the night?!
When I saw holes on what I think is a ceiling, I immediately stood up. I looked thru the holes and that’s when I realized, I was inside my trap! And that stupid jerk Heath, along with his friends and his henchmen, smirking while holding the key for me to see.
“What the hell are you doing?!”, I shouted while banging the wooden box.
“How ‘bout you? Why the heck was you snoring while waiting for us to arrive?”, his tone full of mockery, which made me even more irritated.
“You stupid jerk! Get me out of here right now!”
“No can do, you wanted that to happen. Go figure.”
My jaw dropped in disbelief when they all turned away. What kind of people are they? Do they intend to leave me here inside?! How dare they!
But as if I'm not also a bad guy for doing it to them?
Am I wrong for being desperate just to catch them?
Wait, the camera! I put it on top of the tree and it was live. Because the camera is connected to the principal's monitor, for sure he can see what is happening right now. However, with that old man so outdated about technology? I doubt it.
Wait, I have a phone! I had to call Talulah, she’s the only one closest to us right now. The three of us are not in the same class, and I am grateful that that’s our situation!
“What the— where’s my phone?”, I whispered.
“Oh, you mean this?”
I turned to him who was now facing me. “My phone has a c***k?! What did you do!”
“It’s not my fault you fell from a tree.”
Me? Fell?! But why didn’t I felt it? Am I numb? I don’t feel any pain anywhere in my body, and if I did fall, my bones should be broken.
“Be thankful for me because I caught you,” his smirk widen when our eyes met.
“You jerk! Give my phone back!”
“For what? To call the SC President and catch us?”
“What else!”
“Then no. Just stay there and be quiet, we’re in a hurry,” before turning his back, he winked at me first, not minding my pounding on the big wooden box.
Why did I even think of sleeping?! Now my trap was a wreck! Once that Heath Evans gets out, I will receive a First Warning!
They are getting close to the gate. And Heath also had taken out the Privilege Card that he stole from me to quicken their escape. But before he could swipe the card, the guards who had been waiting for my signal quickly appeared.
I burst out laughing when I saw the shock on their faces. I slipped my two hands into the hole and opened the door with its motion going towards me.
I came out of the cage with a wide smile on my face, while Heath angrily stared at me. He could not move because of the number of guards holding tasers and pointed them towards them.
“One wrong move, and you will all be dancing to the tune of the tasers” I teased before laughing at their situation. “Did you really think that I wouldn’t have a plan B in case the first one failed? I'm sorry but, I'm not like you, who’s so confident to think that he can escape from this school.”
All fell silent, no one spoke. I know the guards are getting tired of Heath and I’s staring contest, but they can’t do anything. If I don’t tell them to arrest yet, they are not allowed to take any actions without my go signal.
Heath’s glare gradually disappeared and is now flashing a smug look on his face as a playful smirk curved on his lips.
“And you think that they are your guards?”
I was in the least surprised when the guards pointed their tasers at me. I just sighed before shaking my head which made them curious.
“You really don’t get me, do you?”, I tapped my finger on my right shoulder before pointing it towards him. “See that red dot? One wrong move from all of you, and you’ll be convulsing like some fangirl excited to meet satan.”
I sensed someone moving at my right side, probably thinking of tasering me, but Heath quickly signaled them to stop with what they’re planning. I smiled with derision. “Once my companions see me lying on the ground, they’ll make sure you’ll be kissing the ground as earthworms would be delighted to enter your bodies. One of the delinquents invented that long, sniper-like taser, right? You should thank that person, Heath,” I called out his name full of mockery.
My smile even widened when I saw how pitiful and stupid they look on bringing too little reinforcements. So sad that a cute little bunny cornered a hungry, fierce lion.
I am confident that they have no other choice but to surrender. They can’t use their impostor guards in convincing me that they’ll be taken care of, wherein I’ve watched their footage numerous times. As long as I block their pretenders, they can never leave school.
“How... ”, his jaw clenched as if he wants to snap my head off so that it would suffice the anger he’s feeling.
“Did you think that I was sleeping a while ago? Oh, and, thank you for catching me by the way, I didn’t know you’re such a gentleman.” His face turned even darker when I blew a kiss on him.
His eyebrows were in a grim line as he looked at me. I can see the anger in his eyes because I successfully stopped them from running away. Fortunately, I’m a smart, beautiful girl. I will never be deceived by a boy such as him.
“Fire,” with that word escaping my mouth, all of them were simultaneously wriggling violently because of the taser pierced through their skin.
