"Good morning, Alpha heir," the nurse greeted me with a respectful bow as I encountered her in the hallway.
I inquired directly, "Where's Vanessa?"
"She's currently asleep, Alpha heir. Would you like me to wake her?"
“No.” I cut her off.
“How's she doing?”
“Healthy, a few of her wounds are starting to close up, while some are still quite grave and need utmost attention.”
I nodded, trying to conceal the anger that surged through my veins. "Where are you off to? You do realise that Vanessa should not be left unguarded, right?"
“Yes Alpha heir, I was leaving to fetch her breakfast in the clinic's cafeteria.”
“Why?” I asked, her revelation coming as a surprise to me.
“Madam Flora instructed the maids and chef to deny Vanessa meals. We were starved last night.” She r
