Chapter5: The great fall

370 Words
I quickly gather everyone and tell them about my experience. They all look at me and stare into my eyes, searching for any trace of deceit. Ryan chuckles as I grab a handful of popcorn on the table. I tell them it is all real and that we should go together. To my surprise they all agreed. Igrab my phone out of my jacket pocket. It is now warm. I send a quick text to my parents telling them that I am sleep over a friend's place. They sound a bit sceptical but agree because they trust Ryan's parents. Ever since that day... No this is a story for another chapter. It is now sunset and we prepare ourselves with snacks and flashlights. The sky was a mix of orange and blue by the time we set our feet out. The air gets colder by the second. We all walk slowly thanks to my current condition. "Is that it?", CJ's voice fills the street. We stop at the side of the house. At the spot where I had kicked the planks down. I say to everyone, "this is it". But they didn't seem to fear anything...yet. The sun is gone and the moon takes it's place. We walk in one by one. The house still feels the same as it did the first day. The floorboards creaking under our feet. The staircase is still there. I can hear my heart beat as if it echoed throughout the entire building. They all follow behind me as I go down the stairs. Everything is dark and the path narrow. Then ahead of us I see it. That familiar flickering light radiating from afar. This time it isn't empty. There is a voice inside the room. So I motion to my friend's to be silent. But since it is dark there is no possibility is there (sigh). We then hear footsteps coming up the stairs. Calculated and sure. We back up to the side onto the wall. We hear a clicking sound and the wall opens, swallowing us whole. The fall is long and dark. We hit the ground and I hit head first. I hear a cracking sound before everything goes blank.
