Chapter1: My dream house was my first mistake
listen up because this is no fairy tale story.
I had just opened my eyes, laying flat on my bed. The first thing I see is my pale ceiling staring back at me. My door opens with a loud creek followed by a thud, as my sister screamed her way in, begging for breakfast. I groaned in irritation and covered my face into the darkness of my blanket. All of a sudden, I pour milk into a bowl cereal. The sound was like a mini waterfall and the light of the morning sun reflected off it, casting a shadow inside the bowl.
The clock reads 7:00 a.m., so I walk through the cracked tiles of the floor bare foot towards the bathroom, my feet feeling colder with every step. The moment I look into the mirror, I see two eye bags greeting me good morning. I bathe in soothing water and dress up for the day. I soon after grasp my phone and text my parents that I am heading out.
Sometime later I am wondering around the city until I see my dream house standing out. Hearts flutter all around me. I then see many planks on the window frames, blinding my point of view of the inside. I hesitantly walk toward the door to knock. For a moment too long there is silence. The wind gently whispers into my ears (open it). And so I place my hand onto the cold door handle. I slowly return it, but it did not budge but so I look around for another way in. I soon find a planked window frame with jagged edges and holes for the light to go through. I decide to take a few steps back and thrust my foot toward the planks.
The moment those planks fall light beams into the cold house. I slowly enter, mindful of my steps. The air is cold and heavy, dust particles lingering all over the place. The floor creaked between each footstep. I soon see a staircase going down and I mindlessly go down step-by-step. My heart rate increases for a moment too long. I go down stairs that feel like they are going on forever and stretch on to eternally.
I soon come across brightness crawling in the dark. The closer I get, the brighter the light. What is see gets my body to stiffen. I see many large jars and tanks under a single florescent light. The kind that's stretches on for miles and flickered way too much. In the jars and tanks I see green fluids with tiny bubbles floating upwards. These fluids held limbs, at first I think that they are animal parts until I see a finger, then a
toe just floating in the fluids.
I then hear footsteps coming my direction so I hide. The footsteps stop then soon faint into the silence. I then look for a way out fearing that I am going to be next someway somehow. My dream house turned out to be a nightmare. I finally find a way out through a different exit after a while of searching. I then call the police as my hands shake so they would come to investigate house.
They check and check but find nothing. Maybe I am imagining it. Or maybe the police officers are too lazy and think I wish to waste their time. But I know what I saw and it will stay with me and be engraved in my mind for the rest of my life. That day I am taken home and was obviously grounded for weeks. I was forbid me from going anywhere at anytime. It seemed like the story of my life has come to an end.
