I can’t stop repeating the question in my mind, screaming at myself in a shrill, agonized voice that pierces my soul, yet never escapes my lips. Disbelief at uncovering my own secret abounds. Secrets so well hidden that even I ask if the feelings belong to me or someone else.
Surely, the owner of these feelings must be some other foolhardy woman with a self-destructive tendency who does not guard her world as carefully as I do. A woman who has yet to experience true loss. A woman who doesn’t grasp the concept of fragility. Nor that one’s existence can break, crack like an eggshell, then leak a spent life
