It was a lovely evening, despite what'd happen earlier. Adrianna arrives at home to find her roommate and friend Beth working on a paper in their small apartment which consists of two small bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a living room that is also a kitchen and dining. There was no television, as both didn't have the time, even if Beth is still a party girl but lean on Beth to keep up with current events and by current events....celebrity gossip.
"I've bought yogurts," Adrianna says, "your favorite one."
"Oh, you're the best wife!" she teased, "let me kiss you." Adrianna amusingly tries to get away but she was chased by Beth all the way to her room. Beth was the one who takes care of the Bills as she was studying accounting, for it was good practice. Despite cooking on occasion, Adrianna is the one who brings home the grocery since she works part-time at a supermarket, and today wasn't her day, she was only covering for an employee, who called in sick.
"I forgot to ask you," she called, "how was your first day?"
Adrianna was not stunned by the question as they are both comfortably close to talking about each other's lives.
"It started okay," Adrianna replied. "until I met that guy again." She carelessly throws in.
"What ger?!" Adrianna came out of her room, to find Beth crossed leg on the couch stuffing herself with the yogurt.
"Oh, the one at the club, who wanted the private dance," Beth's eyes widened, but Adrianna didn't want to tell her friend that the same guy happens to be the owner of sin media.
"Urgh, this is serious, he's stalking you!" She paused, "Wait, how did he get past security? Please don't tell me he works there."
He more than works there, she shouldn't have brought it up but she didn't want to keep secrets from her friend. She tries to change the subject.
"So, what are you working on?" She asks.
"Just a narrative report," Beth dismisses, "does he work there?" She wouldn't give up.
Adrianna shook her head.
"Didn't the guy he sent call him boss," she considers, "why would he need to work, if he can send two pets to do his work?"
Was she getting close to figuring it out? Adrianna was afraid of both outcomes.
"Why do I feel like there's something you're not telling me."
So intuitive. Adrianna enters the bathroom to get ready for bed.
"No one knows who owns the penthouse, there's another one in Cali," she rubs her chin...
"Sin media, boss...aaargh," she gasped, "Is it Alexander Sin?" Oh no!
Adrianna didn't know it back then at the club that she was facing Alexander sin owner and CEO of sin media group aka playboy of Hollywood, whom she had heard of but never followed as Beth did, you can always rely on Beth to know the latest celebrity gossip.
"You've talked to him, what was he like?" She asks, "I've always read he's a womanizer but not a creep."
He smells good, really good. Adrianna remembers back in the elevator how she first noticed this tall, handsome man with intense green eyes, how his scent intoxicated her, she'd noticed his toned shape beneath that expensive suit...no tie. It dawned on her that it was the same man at the club but she wasn't quite sure until he opened his mouth to say hello.
"HELLO."
"Huh?" She snaps out of it, to see Beth standing in the bathroom doorway, waiting for an answer.
"I've lost you for a moment," she says, "so?"
"I don't know, he wanted to know my name, we didn't stay and chat."
It was partly true, and she didn't want to go into details. At first, when he asked for her name at the elevator, Adrianna only thought he was stalking her, how else did he know where she works, then Mr.Cole's secretary had called him Mr.sin which would, of course, explain it; he was on his own building, yet something was bothering her about him, surely he didn't do all this to know her name, that would be...crazy.
"I'm going to bed, goodnight," Adrianna says.
Once in bed, Adrianna still couldn't stop thinking about the handsome man, he had asked her out for lunch. Which of course she had to turn down, she still had to remain apathetic, or he would think otherwise. She drifts asleep. She awoke at six to get ready for her second day at sin media group, she'd applied for it as she didn't know she would be chosen, still, she had arranged her class schedule for the evening. Now her last semester of college will be internship, class, work, sleep...not much for social life, not that she had any. She takes the subway as she doesn't have a car. Even with the delays, she made it on time, sat in her cubicle and began working on their project. A project which she is sure has an impact on their decision to hire her full time.
"Good morning, Miss. James," a modulated male voice speaks.
"Good morning, Mr. Sin," she breathlessly replied and went back focusing her attention on the folder in front of her, which she was half paying attention to as the smell didn't leave. Ignore, ignored, ignored, she thought.
"Can I see you in my office, Miss. James?"
"What for?" She blurts out, realizing what she says, "I-mean, what can I do for you, sir?"
Mush to her astonishment he wasn't angry, though, had a look of content—a sly smirk.
"Fine," he clears his throat, "office."
Adrianna followed the adonis, who has begun to have an effect on her. She didn't notice it before at the club because of the dim light and the second time as he had offended her with his presence but this was a gorgeous man.
He sat at his desk motioned for her to do the same. She sat. Adrianna matched the intense staring from the other side, she wouldn't give in or look to be affected by him, she studied him.
He looks good in that steep navy blue suit, white blouse...no ties again.
A chiseled chin— he spoke.
"How's the project coming along?"
You call me in for that, are you interested? Did you ask the others, too?
"It's coming along."
Passionate, emerald green eyes— he stares. Aware of his scrutiny, she cleared her throat.
Slicked back wavy, raven-haired, she badly wanted to tug in—he smoothed, is that a sign of nervousness? No, just your imagination!
He stands towering over her, he must be about six feet tall.
"Well, if there is anything I can do for you, you know where to find me?"
"Thank you, Mr. Sin."
"Please, call me Alex," he smirks. Oh, there it is again! that mischievous smirk.
She can only nod, she didn't know what to make of it. She left and went back to her cubicles, every now and then she would raise her eyes over the cubicles and take a peek, it wasn't hard to see as the walls were made of glass giving a full account of what's going inside although you won't be able to hear anything. Every now and then but he wasn't watching her, he was so concentrated on the computer in front of him that Adrianna wonder if he was only pretending to work, as it was just yesterday he asked her out and now he was being formal, acting as if nothing happened, was he ever interested and now over her...that quickly? or is he playing hard to get? She wanted to confide in someone, which means telling Beth everything, she wanted advice as she couldn't entirely make sense of it. That night she opens the subject, hoping she wouldn't regret it.
"How can you tell if a guy wants to date you or just wants to f**k you?" She asks.
Beth, who was drinking a bottle of water nearly choke and spill most of it on the floor.
"What, where is this coming from?" She looks scandalized, in a very playful way.
"I'm just...curious."
"Well, if you're lucky to come across one that is direct, he'll tell you," Beth explains, "if you meet a bipolar one then... so, who is it?"
Adrianna took a deep breath, she knew this was coming.
"Alexander..he wanted to know my name, he asked me out for lunch."
"Oh, I'm sure he's being friendly," she said in a matter of fact tone, "you're not his type." Ouch. "Don't get me wrong, you're a very beautiful girl," she quickly added when she saw the look on her friend's face... "there's not much about his private life but the few women they've managed to catch him with are well...blonde."
There is probably some truth to this, even his private dancer is blonde as she remembers seeing a pretty one back at the club.
"Porn is not doing it for you," she wiggled her eyebrows.
"How—how do you know about my porn?" Adrianna asks.
"You need to learn how to erase your browsing history," she said earnestly...
"You are into some kinky stuff," she jokes.
"Spanking is not kinky."
Adrianna couldn't understand the fascination of wanting to be spank but whenever the guy says 'I'm going to punish you,' she gets tingly.
"I don't mind spanking you if that's what you are into," she says.
"Ergh no, that's weird you're my friend!... And you're not my type"
" What does that even mean...You don't like girls?" she jokes.
"No it's not that...I'm not into blonde," Adrianna taunted.
"Oh, you!" She throws the couch's pillow at her, "come here, I'm going to spank that ass."
She gave chase but Adrianna was able to run to her bedroom without harm. The next day Adrianna arrived to work in a great mood. The day had begun blissfully, there was no run-in with a crowded subway with perverted guys taking their chance to groped you, it was the first in her many years taking the subway. She sat at her usual cubicle, not a full twenty minutes in, she had a delivery—someone sent her flowers, roses to be exact. Although it is a nice gesture, it is also a selfish thing for someone to do at her place of work, what if she loses her internship over that? And she doesn't even like flowers, oh my! They are real—! She is allergic. Adrianna feels bad for having to turn the delivery person since it wasn't their fault.
"Please, return to sender—!" she sneezes, there was a note but she didn't get a chance to read it.
She hastily walked to the bathroom to fix herself and when she came back she saw her boss sitting at his office desk, his face contorted with frustration that went as quickly as it came—was that directed towards her?
Thinking over what Beth had said she decided to do a little digging—Hello, Google search! She typed in the name Alexander Sin and a bunch of results came... but no social media. She quickly exits out of the browser when she noticed one of her colleagues coming over.
"We need your draft by the end of today," the group leader says.
"Sure, I have it now," she hands her draft over. He left and she went back to do some more snooping....and Beth was right, as she looked at the images, few of the pictures of him were with tall, blonde, blue eyes supermodel but wait, what's this?—a picture of him with a brunette, a tall sexy blue eyes brunette...maybe he likes them tall with blue eyes. As she scrolled further down she came across another one...one with a tall gorgeous black supermodel. So he has gone out with other women that are not blonde which didn't make her feel better because even if they are not blonde, they are tall and she is neither tall nor sexy. He has a type. Tall sexy supermodels. In the moment of browsing, she absentmindedly clicked a picture that led her to a jewelry shop and she got lost admiring a gorgeous pearl style drop earrings adorned with a sparkly diamond that she didn't see him coming-holy s**t, ten grand for an earring.
"I don't think the office is the best place to handle your private affairs, Miss. James" said a stoic voice behind her.
Adrianna looks up to see the handsome devil, watching her indifferently.
"Sorry, Alex..."
"Mr. Sin," he interrupted. He walked away. That was odd behavior, still, Adrianna believes he is right and feels terrible. It was then she became mindful that they had an audience. She came home from her part-time job, late at night, she had a lot of work to do. The next morning she was running late, she overslept and that never happened to her. Whether yesterday's scene between her and sin played a role, she didn't know, but all of sudden her draft was not up to par and she was asked to do it again all on top of her homework and studies. She ran into a hard form- Mr. Greek god. Her papers scatter all over the floor.
"The office is not a playground, Miss. James."
Oh, Adrianna would love to wipe that smirk off his face but it would cause her to lose her internship and may leave a bad reputation to future employers. Possibly alert to what just happened he picks up her paper from the floor and handed it to her. That was an abnormal thing to do, a nice gesture right after scolding that person. Two-faced.
"Thank you, Mr.sin," she says.
Adrianna was curious as to why he acts that way, was it possible that Alexander Sin suffers from mental illness?—it's a shame, he is a very good looking man, the attractive one is always problematic. Later that evening she went straight home after class, she didn't have to go to work, Thursday was her day off.
"You had a delivery," Beth greets.
"I didn't order anything," Adrianna was puzzled.
"Here, open it please, the bag is so fancy," she was more excited than her.
Adrianna opened the bag, took out the tissues and set them aside, picked up a rich silky pouch embroidered with a logo, pulled at the string to reveal a fine earring.
"Oooh, did you get a sugar daddy?" Adrianna shook her head, nonplussed.
"I have to return this," she said distractedly.
This earring, the same earrings she was looking at when he'd tower over her—could it be?
His actions were now confusing her to a point she might go crazy. It was finally Friday and it has been a week since she started this internship and there were three months to go. How the hell is she going to survive under these conditions? If Mr. If there is anything I can do for you, you know where to find me and then Mr. The office is not a playground, Miss James! Sticks around. What was he playing at? He was hot and cold.
