Chapter 16 Prince Rye.

Fathers ball is near and today the girls invited Sol to go shopping with them while I go to the office. It's not that I don't want her to go, it's that I don't want her to pick up their behavior. My cousin's wives are pretty with beautiful souls but they spend a lot and they are bratty, brats when it comes to shopping. I wouldn't mind if Sol behaves like one but just not for anyone to see. For me yes. “Am.. Are you sure it's ok to go to the mall with the girls.” Sol ask. “You don't have to ask him to go anywhere, it's not like he can tell you no Sol.” Kye said. “We all know that, he just plays it off.” Nicholas said. “Mr. I need to get home quickly. I'm sleepy. Like we sleep.” Everyone starts laughing. “And when he comes home we can't find him, the other night I knocked on the door for us to have a drink and he's in his pyjamas talking about how she needs him to sleep.” I let it slide as they made fun of me to be honest because of what I said to them the day they got married. I told them all I’ll be single forever and no woman would be able to hold me down. “I have a card ready for you, here.” I handed her a bank card with her name in it. “Thank you, but I have ..” “Take the card Sol.” After breakfast she ran up stairs and changed into something warm and headed to the car with the others. My cousins stood next to me, one holding my hand, my shoulder and the other holding a box of tissue. “It’s ok Rye, I’ll wipe away your tears.” Emmanuel said. “I will never be held down by a woman.” Nicholas mocked. “Here Princess Sol a black card for you. Send it in whatever you like. You can buy out the whole mall if you want to.” Thomas said. I flip them off and leave. My office is overrun with papers and files for me to sort through. The most important one I’ll start with first is Sol's swearing in ceremony that will officially make her a part of our family. She’d be given her official title as Princess and duties to tend to. Along with that she'd be given a paycheck that would be her own to spend. Don't get me wrong I don't mind giving her my money I’ll give her all if I have to but, she may want her own. I get that done and over with moving onto the others.Papers after papers, signature upon signatures needed for approval. Again. I stumble upon a piece of paper that has Kyro’s name along with his parents' and Sol's name. The paper is soiled and water stained you can barely make out what’s written.I set it aside hoping that I could read it in my free time. The meeting with dad came next. We came to an agreement on what to do with Sir Leon and Sir Authur as punishment for what they have done. We found out that they have been stealing blood and selling it. Afterwards I had my online meeting with the manager of one of our recently opened restaurants in Italy. It’s a relief to hear everything is running smoothly. I used the little free time I had to call Kye. There isn’t a notification from the bank yet, she doesn’t have a cellphone and when I asked her parents why? They gave me some bullshit lines about; keeping her safe. Kye did everything I asked him to do, he bought the phone, saved my number and called me from it. When she answered I asked the first question that came to mind. “Why did you not buy yourself anything?” “Am.. there’s nothing here I want.” “Or you don’t want to spend our money.” “I don’t want to spend it on things I don’t need.” “It doesn’t matter if you don’t need it, but something or I’ll come down there and buy you something. Would you like me to come down there Princess?” She hung up and I smiled, that might just do the trick. After all my meetings and paperwork I meet up with one of my closest friends Micheal,at the golf course. Micheal is not only my friend, he's also my right hand man. But sadly there has been a disturbance in his family forcing him to take some time off. “I’m sorry I couldn’t make the wedding.” Micheal said, “It’s alright, I can't wait for you to meet the Princess.” I say. “What’s her name, you didn’t send me an invite and you didn’t tell me her name.” “Her name is Sol Swarn and I didn’t send you an invite because you would have come. Your family needs you here.” “Sol, that name reminds me of someone.” “Yeah..” He hits the ball flashes over and puts the ball into the hole, “Can you not cheat for once?” I ask, “You shouldn’t have turned me.” He said, I turned Micheal five years ago. We attempted to save two of his closest friends but sadly they both died. Well one of the sisters died and the other one was never to be seen again. I remember that day so vividly, Micheal came to our gates to report something illegal, a family of four, turned into a family of two. The mother and father died leaving the children behind. Micheal asked me for help. Father had just left to attend a charity event and I held on for him. We searched that area for hours only to find the little sister, I will always remember the look on her face. She looked like she was suffering and wanted to be out of her misery, she’d been shot. I begged her to hold out until Micheal returned, but sadly he still returned empty handed. He was distracted, both of them, so they took their own life with a piece of broken glass as I turned my back. I couldn’t stand seeing both of them die, so I tried turning them.Micheal turned, but the sister, Rain, never lived. We buried her in an unmarked grave that only me and Micheal know its location. Till this day I still search for that sister. It's a shame I never knew her name, just the taste of her blood. I always said if I found her I would marry her, but that changed when I saw Sol for the first time. I think what drew me to her is the fact that she looks exactly like the little girl that died in my arms. “What are you thinking about?” Micheal asked. “Nothing, ready to go grab something to eat.” Before he could respond, I got a call from Kye saying that they had just arrived home and Sol was helping Sarah, Margret and Marley prepare dinner for everyone. “We’ll have to skip that meal because my wife is cooking me dinner.” “You lucky bastard, the chick I got home is drinking me dry.” We both laughed. The drive home was once again silent. The thought of Rain, the look in her eyes. She was sad and broken when we told her we couldn’t find her sister. “Please look for my sister and keep her safe Prince Rye.” Her very last words still haunt me now and again because I wish I could have saved her and find her sister. The way Micheal talked about the both of them, no,the three of them seems very close. It’s a shame that only one of them lived.
