Chapter 17 Rye.

1201 Words
THE UNWANTED GUEST.. It didn’t take me long to get home, about twenty minutes at the most. My cousins and Kye are setting the table while father is bringing out dishes. This is something you have to see to believe, they have never been the kind to do these kind of things so it looks strange watching them move about with plates and spoons in their hands. “Rye. You came just in time to help Sol bring out the remaining dishes.” Father said. I walk into the kitchen and see Sol packing some bread on a tray along with vegetables, pasta, beans and other things. “Where are the maids?” I asked, watching as she juggled two trays in her hand. “Ohh, I convinced father to give them the night off, the guards are the only ones here tonight.” “How did you get my father to do that? I’ve been trying for years.” “I promised him a piece of our wedding cake.” She hands me a tray. We walk to the dining area and place the tray with food in the center, everything looks so colorful and delicious. There’s chicken, fish, vegetables, potatoes and lots more. Dad along with the others took their seats, everyone was eating and talking just like we normally do. Father is stuffing his face and you would swear he’d never eaten before. “Sol, where did you learn to cook?” “Ohh.. my mother taught me.” She answered smiling. “Did you do something to the blood? It tastes different, it tastes like..” “I mixed it with milk and spices.” she replied toKye. Taking my glass in hand I took a sip and my eyes expanded, I never had my blood this way before. Just as I was about to compliment her on the drink a guard came in disturbing our meal. He leaned into fathers ear and whispered something. Then comes over to me and whispers something that turns my stomach. and “Lady Orisha of the council.” One of the other guards announced. The atmosphere in the room shifted, it went from joyous and happy, to cold and miserable. The table went silent as she walked towards us. “King Cedric, Prince kye and Rye my darling.” “Lady Orisha.” we all answer “Can I join when I'm starving?” Dad pointed to the guard to get her a seat, Sol got up and got her a plate with a knife and a fork. “So Ryeidon, how have you been? I haven't seen you since our trip to Paris.” “I'm fine and how are you?” “I'm great now I'm sitting with my favourite people.” “Favorite people no one here likes you.” Emmanuel humbled under his breathe. “You came a but early for the ball lady Orisha.” dad said. “Yes, I came to help with decorations and the menu.” she said. “Ohh, that wouldn't be necessary, my daughter is helping me with that. We've already chosen the menu and the decor.” Dad said. “Ohh, I'm glad it's settled. She said. “It seems that you have lost your manners.” father said. “How so, u greeted everyone when I came in.” “You didn't greet the future queen of our colony.” “I didn't notice her sitting there, she so.. Small.” she eyed Sol. “Go on then what are you waiting for.” “It's a pleasure to meet you Sol..” “Don't forget her title.” I said and father cleared his throat. “Princess Sol.” she said. “Ohh, it's nice to meet you as well. I hope you enjoy your stay.” Sol replied. Sitting back after the tension left the room everyone is in conversation, they talk about all the places they went after the mall. To the theater and a little carnival. I was worried at first but then I learned Kye had Frank and other guards meet them before leaving the mall. Even though humans love us there are some that hate us, we even have a few of our kind that hate us. And they would do anything to get to me and father and if they could snatch Sol they would. But it seemed that they only met people who adore her and the others. Kye pulled out his phone showing us the photos of Sol and Emily holding puppy's. It was funny because you couldn't see Emily in the photo so the dog looked like he was floating in thin air. We were all so lost in conversation no one noticed Orisha disappear from the table. After dinner everyone helped clean and then we all headed our separate ways to bed. I opened the door to our bedroom while Sol talked to dad in the hallway. He wants her to help him choose blinds because he doesn't like the first set. My eyes caught the shadow moving around my room. Closing the door behind me I walked slowly to the center of the room and watched as Orisha laid on the bed in a robe. “What are you doing?” “Laying in bed silly, isn't it time for bed yet.” “Get up Orisha, Sol is outside and I don't want her to get the wrong idea.” “The wrong idea, the is our room remember.” “You and I broke up a long time ago, now get up and get out.” She gets off the bed and walks towards me, stopping once she is about three inches away. “God be up the act, I know you only need to marry her because it was your duty. I'm here now so we can have a little fun.” “Leave Orisha.” I take a step back. She rolls her eyes and heads toward the door, but before she could open it Sol those. She looks at Orisha and then tilts her head and looks at me. I swear if I had a heart it would be beating like a drum right now, it would be beating so loud even the human ears would hear it. Closing the door behind her she eyes me then grabs her towel and pajama and heads into the bathroom. After her shower and I finished up my work I have to take to the office with me tomorrow. We both head to bed, it's silent as always. “We didn't, I didn't. We didn't do anything Sol.” “I know.” “How do you know?” “Because you're not that kind of person.” She rolled over and placed her head in my neck before slowly drifting off to sleep. She's right I'm not capable of that kind of thing, not anymore at least. That's just to show how much of an effect she has on me, how much of a hold she has. I hope the wrong person doesn't realize it because I would be in deep s**t.
