CHAPTERONE
By 10 a.m. On Friday morning, Mr &Mrs Williams set off to attend their friend's daughter's wedding. On their way, a truck hit them from behind, which led to their demise. When Samantha and Sarah heard the news they couldn't believe that both parents had died on the same day. This news left Samantha and Sarah speechless. When the news got to Stanley that his brother and wife were involved in an accident and died, "Oh my God why did you let this happen to us?"Stanley said, as tears rolled down his eyes, his wife Remi came into the room and asked, what happened? Why are you crying? The worst has happened. My brother and his wife were involved in an accident and they both died on the spot", Stanley said. Remi was shocked and couldn't say a word as she stood tearfully. Stanley said to his family," I have to go to Sydney to see my brother's children and get things ready for the funeral. Sophia ran to her room on the same day crying and thinking about how both parents of two young girls died on the same day and she knelt and prayed that her parents would never die soon. She was so scared and couldn't stop thinking about Samantha and Sarah. On the other hand, Samantha and Sarah haven't said a word since they heard news of their parents. They sat on the floor, tears rolling down their eyes. Stanley arrived at his brother's house and saw his brother's children. He got emotional. "I have to be strong for my brother's children", Stanley said to himself, looking at Samantha and Sarah. Samantha and Sarah stood up and embraced their uncle with a gloomy expression. Stanley was sad to see his brother's children unhappy. He took Samantha and Sarah inside and told them to eat but they refused. They haven't eaten anything since the news of the demise of their parents. Stanley is worried that the children might break down since they haven't eaten, so he decides to convince them to eat." My dear children, I know the news of your parent's death came as a shock to everyone, but there is nothing we can do about it. God knows best. Please, I beg you in the name of God to eat. If not for anything, do it for the sake of your parents. They won't be happy seeing you both starve yourself. I love you both like a father. You would please listen to me and eat", Stanley said, with a melancholy voice. Samantha and Sarah decided to eat. While eating, Sarah bumped into tears. Samantha tried to console her. Sarah said to Samantha, holding her hands. Samantha was heartbroken seeing her sister break down so she decided to be strong for herself and her little sister. Late at night, Stanley informed Samantha and Sarah that the burial ceremony of their parents had been fixed. In two days' time, their parents would be laid to rest and after the funeral, they would both live with him and his family. He pleaded with them to get their things ready to leave in 5 days. He promised to take care of them and make sure they were treated well in his house. He told them that Ballajura is a beautiful place to live. He assured them that they would like the new environment and his wife and daughter were eagerly waiting for them to arrive. Stanley went to the room to get some rest, Samantha tried to put Sarah to sleep. When Sarah finally went to sleep, Samantha sat on the floor and was thinking about how their life had changed in the twinkle of an eye. She was worried about Sarah because Sarah finds it difficult to adapt to a new environment, and being the big sister she is, she tries not to show too much weakness in front of her sister. She consoles her by realizing they only have each other now. Sophia, their cousin, having understood the gravity of the situation, tries to cheer them up. She tries to initiate conversations and make them come out of the house but all to no avail, as Samantha and Sarah had already lost all sense of purpose... They feel shattered and like the ground beneath them should just open and swallow them as they do not even wish to live anymore. The family they considered life, the parents they were trying to be something in life to take care of were gone now... They couldn't think of anything aside from how much they hated life and the world at large and to them Sophia was being a pain in the butt and stressing them with her constant talking along with, the "sorry" here and there. It was driving them crazy, especially the fact that even people who didn't know their parents are saying sorry and acting as if they care, and now Samantha feels like she would have to embrace survival instincts as they're alone now. Although things were hard for them both emotionally and mentally, they always thought of how their parents would feel watching them, so they had to force themselves to eat even while crying at the same time. The stress was overwhelming. It made them sick, nauseous, depressed, sad, and even angry, and the fact that there was nothing they could do about it now broke their hearts, sometimes Sarah would voice to Samantha that she misses their mom and that would push Samantha to the brink of tears, but the last thing she'd want is for her sister to consider her weak and start crying cause of her so she'd swallow her tears and just hug her sister to sleep feeling like she has to take care of her as this is all she's got now, and literally no one and nothing cares about them, despite how wrong that was, it was how she felt, there were even nights when she'd just stay awake for hours trying to grasp the possibility of seeing someone today and by tomorrow they're literally out of your life and world, it didn't make sense at all to her but at the same time it was her reality and as much as it broke her heart and soul she couldn't change it and she could only cry when her sister wasn't awake to avoid watching her sister cry too.
