CHAPTER NINE She was all alone. Who had she been kidding? She couldn't protect herself in this world. She couldn't even control anything in her life on Earth. What hope was there of positively influencing her life here, where the normal rules of existence didn't apply? Nancy pressed her face into crossed arms and let the tears flow. Her body shook.
