Chapter 1
Jasmine took a deep breath as she stepped onto the campus of Open University. Today marked the beginning of her college journey, and she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. As a first-year student, she was determined to make the most of this experience.
Arriving early, Jasmine made her way to the classroom and chose a seat by the window. The morning sun streamed in, casting a warm glow over her desk. She pulled out her book and immersed herself in its pages, finding comfort in the familiar words as she waited for class to begin.
As students filed in, Jasmine noticed how beautifully everyone seemed to present themselves. They wore stylish outfits and exuded confidence, but Jasmine remained unfazed. Her focus was solely on her studies. She had no time for distractions; she was here to learn and build a future.
As Jasmine continued to read, she was suddenly interrupted by a cheerful voice.
"Hi there! Is this seat taken?"
Jasmine looked up to see a girl with bright, sparkling eyes and a confident smile. She had long, wavy hair and an effortless sense of style that made her stand out. Jasmine recognized her as Kelly, the class representative, known for her vibrant personality.
"No, it’s free,"
Jasmine replied, shifting her backpack to make room.
Kelly settled into the seat beside her, her energy filling the space.
"I’m Kelly! It’s great to meet you. Are you excited for your first day?"
Jasmine smiled, feeling a bit of her nervousness fade.
"Yeah, I am! Just trying to focus on my studies."
Kelly nodded, her expression understanding.
"I get it! College can be overwhelming at first, but it’s also a lot of fun. We’ll make great memories here."
Jasmine appreciated Kelly’s enthusiasm.
"Thanks! I hope so. I’m just hoping to keep up with everything."
"You will!"
Kelly assured her.
"And if you ever need help, I’m here. We can study together or coffee. I love getting to know new people."
Jasmine felt a warmth at the offer.
"That sounds nice."
The professor entered the room, signaling the start of class. As they settled into their seats, Kelly leaned closer.
"Just so you know, you’re going to love this course. The professor is amazing!"
Jasmine nodded, her curiosity piqued. Throughout the lecture, she found herself glancing at Kelly, who was taking notes with a mix of focus and flair. It was refreshing to see someone so engaged, and Jasmine felt inspired to match her energy.
After class, as students began to disperse, Kelly turned to Jasmine.
"So, what’s your plan now? Are you heading straight to work?"
"Yeah, I work at a bubble tea shop nearby,"
Jasmine replied.
"It’s not too far from here."
"Nice! I love bubble tea! Maybe I’ll stop by sometime,"
Kelly said, her eyes lighting up.
"I’d love to support you."
"That would be great!"
Jasmine smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie forming.
As they walked out of the classroom together, Jasmine felt a flicker of excitement. Meeting Kelly had brightened her day, and she looked forward to the new friendship.
