Wolves
Victoria
5 years ago, werewolves revealed their existence to the world. They had invaded our schools, our communities, and our homes. They were brutal, blood-lusting animals that had no respect for anyone. Just last year, a famous celebrity watched her husband brutally murdered by a wolf that claimed she was his mate.
Anyway, let me get to the point. I am different from all the humans at my school because I am the only one who was born in an all werewolf family. My parent hid their identities, and those of my siblings from me. I only found out about my family 3 years ago.
That would be about two years after the world was made aware. Yes, I was angry at my parents. In fact, I almost ran away. But, ending this little mind rant, I needed to get ready for school.
I quickly got dressed in a cute outfit, A red midriff top, and white short shorts. I noticed the shade of red I was wearing matched my dyed hair perfectly. Werewolves were lovers of natural beauty, and dying my hair was some sort of rebellion in my eyes. I heard my mother calling me from downstairs.
"Victoria! You are going to be late, Kat is waiting."
"I'm coming, Mutt!"
"DO NOT DISRESPECT YOUR MOTHER LIKE THAT, VICTORIA" My father said using his Beta voice.
That's right, you heard me correctly. My father was the Beta of the Moonstone Pack. I still remember the day vividly that my parents made me aware of the fact that they were werewolves, high ranking ones at that.
- FLASHBACK-
"Torie! Come here"
I quickly rushed to my best friends side
"What's up Kat?"
She grabbed my hand and took me to the back of the school. My interest was peaked.
She then said, "Look, I know you are confused, but I need you to hear me out. She then produced two silver daggers. She continued. 'I want us to make a promise to each other. She straightened up and said I, Katharine Renee Morrow, swear to you, Victoria Lena Johnson, that if I ever have an inescapable werewolf mate or I am turned into a werewolf, I will plunge this dagger through my heart."'
I gave her a hug and happily made the same pledge.
I walked to my house and found my mom in the kitchen making dinner.
"Hey, Victoria. How was school?"
"Well, we learned business deductibles in math and continued our study about the Macedonian empire in history. But that's not the interesting part. Kat and I talked after school. "
"Oh really?" She said, arching her eyebrow. "And what might you have talked about?"
"Oh, it was about werewolves. " I took my knife out of my bag and showed it to her. I noticed a flash of fear in her eyes but I dismissed it and continued talking anyway. "Kat and I swore that if we had mates or were turned, we would stab ourselves with these," I said hoisting the knife higher.
My mom turned around and yelled for my dad and my brothers and sister. They came running down the stairs with grim looks on their faces. I was confused, and it probably showed on my face.
"Sweetie, we need to tell you something." Now a feeling of dread replaced the confusion.
"Sweetie, we have been lying to you. We are all werewolves."
Shock, horror, and panic filled my lungs and I struggled to breathe. My family, werewolves? Did that mean I was one too? I must have said that out loud because my brother Alex then said,
"Vicky, somehow you were born human. We don't know how, but you were."
"Holy f*****g s**t. I can't, I don't, how? How is this possible? You guys are what I hate most!"
My entire family looked uncomfortable, but I didn't care. They were monsters. Werewolves.
"Sweetie, what's wrong?"
"YOU GUYS ARE f*****g WEREWOLVES! THAT'S WHAT'S f*****g WRONG!"
"Victoria, watch your language."
"Shut up. Just shut up. Why did you guys lie to me? Why am I a human? What is your pack rank?"
"We lied to you because the other wolves might have killed you for being human."
"Killed? Damn, I knew you guys were evil, but I didn't know to this extent."
Suddenly, the alpha of the pack burst into the room.
"BETA JOHNSON!" When the alpha saw me, he stopped. MY dad glared at him and the alpha returned to him a sheepish look. The anger I was feeling multiplied as I stared at my parents with a deadly glare.
"Oh, so not are you guys only disgusting halfbreeds, but you are beta wolves? Wow. The lies keep coming. " I ran up the stairs, tears threatening to spill.
"Victoria! Come back!"
"SHUT THE f**k UP!"
Then my dad's angry voice rang through the hallway. "VICTORIA! Listen to your mother!"
I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at my "Parents" with a cold glare that could freeze a volcano. "You are not my mother," I said pointing at the woman in front of me, "And you are not my father."
My mom started to cry while my dad gave her a hug. The alpha and my siblings stared at me with shock.
I stomped up the stairs and got on my phone. I clicked on Kat's icon and called her. I told her everything, and I got the ok to go over. I packed a bag and I went downstairs. My so called family watched me but made no move to stop me.
I called an Uber and waited for them to come, with tears streaming down my face.
-END OF FLASHBACK-
That day was in the middle of 8th grade. I was a sophomore now. I still hated my parents, and I couldn't wait for my 16th birthday so I could get emancipated. Then I could move far away to be with my aunt and her girlfriend. Kat was luckily born to human parents, so she didn't have to do what I had to.
I grabbed my favorite jacket and ran out to Kat's car. I was greeted with a smile and my favorite song blasting from the AUX cord. I smiled. Kat was the one person I could be myself around. She was the one person who understood me. I got into the passenger's seat and drove to school, happiness inside of me.
