Valentino's P.O.V "What!" "Valentino LaVito, sit down this instant!" I was furious. Not once was a La Vito forced into marriage. I understand that its necessary, but I think its way too soon. "Tino please," my twin sister, Valentina LaVito sighed. "This will be good for business" mi mama Trish LaVito continued, "Since the Cambridge Clan came into the mix, invading our territory and somehow gaining our most valuable clients, our market's been down. Your father believes an alliance is what we need." "Cazzo!" "Valentino!" mama gasped, "Mind your language. Son, as future Don, I would like to believe that what's best for this business would be top priority to you." My mama, firmly stated. "It is mama." I sighed. Ever since the age of sixteen I've been training to become Don, now at twenty six, I'm ready to take on my role as heir. Unfortunately I can't follow through with my responsibilities until I'm married. "Well then, think of it as killing two, hell, three birds with one stone caro, Not only do you form an alliance with another leading mafia, you follow the family custom of marriage before becoming Don, and you earn the trust of VitoCorp investors." "When do I get this s**t over with?" I sighed. "You will meet her at the fund raiser this weekend." Mama chirped. "Why the hell would mafia's need to throw fund raisers?" Valentina snorted. "Your papa thought it would be a good idea. Gives VitoCorp a good image as well as serving as a great diversion for the real reason we'd be there this weekend. Can't have the public knowing of our side hustle." "Mama, please don't," Tina sighed,"Nobody says 'side hustle' anymore!" Tina exclaimed, air quoting as she said 'side hustle'. "Oh please, Angelo said that just yesterday cara." "Angelo is an idio-" "Can we please get back to the reason for this bloody meeting!" I firmly stated, cutting their petty argument short. "Si, as I was saying," mama started shifting in her chair, " Cambridge's first ladies' daughter, while not of the Cambridge bloodline, was chosen by your father. You must be seen together-" " Why would they need to be seen together?" Valentina said, cutting mama off and earning a glare. "If you would listen you would know!" Mama argued massaging her temples,"Dio sei così frustrante!" I sighed finally deciding to speak up, "For publicity Tina. Not only would I be becoming Don but I will also become the CEO of VitoCorp. And as the heir of a multi billion dollar shipping company, investors would trust a company run by a twenty five year old with their money if he's at least mature enough to settle down and start a family." I explained. "Si," mama continued, "The engagement will be announced the following day, the signing of the treaty and your transition ceremony will take place immediately after the wedding." "I never understand the need for all this." Tina sighed. "And that's why I'm the heir and not you. I'm clearly the brains between us." I stated smirking, earning a glare from Tina, to which I immediately raise my hands in mock-defense. I've learned not to mess with her over the years. While she may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, she can take a man's life with a f*****g teddy bear. "Well then my children, since all is understood, I shall take your leave." Mama said as she got up kissing us both before leaving. As mama disappeared behind the closed door, I turned to Tina giving her my undivided attention, knowing she had something on her mind. "Alright, let me have it." "Are you really gonna marry some chick you've never met, that you don't love Tino?" "It may not have been my plan, but its best for business gattina. I have no choice" "What about love Tino, I want you to be happy." "Valentina," I sighed, " In this business, especially now as future Don, love is a luxury that I can't have. Not again." A sense of nostalgia washed over me. "Tino you know it wasn't your fault, when she took that bullet for you, it was her decision. Stop blaming yourself and get over it, its been three years Tino." "I don't want to talk about this Tina, I should get going as well. I'll be in my room if you need me il mio piccolo cucciolo." Sensing my distress, as usual, Tina dropped the topic. "Don't have any w****s in there this time, I still can't get the image of your ass out of my head." "Maybe if you'd knock you won't have that problem, I'll see you at dinner." "Ciao puttana!" Tina chirped. I chuckled shaking my head. This girl. ------------------------------------------------ /
