Chapter 11 Wrong Decision

1271 Words
"Your husband David asked me to marry him," Mica blotted out almost immediately, gazing into Karen's eyes, she did not want to break the news to her like this, but she did anyways because of how things had turned out, she wanted to tell her in a more brutal manner but felt better almost immediately on seeing Karen's facial expression. Karen felt her heart sink into her belly after hearing what Mica just said, "what did you say?" She muttered as she slowly pulled her hands away from Mica's, unable to believe that her husband David could do such a thing. Mica sat up on the stool, her eyes fixed on Karen, she was loving the reaction and expression she saw on Karen's face right now even though it was not up to what she had expected, "you heard me, Karen, I was as shocked as you are right now when I heard him say that to me, believe me," Mica clapped her hands together pretending to be on Karen's side. "This must be some kind of joke," Karen flared this time standing up from the sofa, and peering down at Mica as if waiting for her to tell her that she was only joking and that her husband asked that she come back home instead. Mica slowly stood up too, her eyes still fixed on Karen, "Look Karen, this is not a joke and there is no need for you to get yourself all worked up like this, your husband is angry with you right now and that is because he does not know the truth yet," Mica took a step closer to Karen, her brows furrowed, pretending to feel Karen's pain. "Do not tell me that you are serious, and that you are considering it," Karen snapped at Mica, as it began to down on her that she is serious, "David is my husband, and you are my best friend, I cannot allow you to get married to my husband because of some stupid setup," Karen snapped again, moving a step backwards away from Mica, shaking her head sideways too, as she tries to take her hand. "Calm down and listen to me, Karen," Mica raised her voice a little at Karen, she needs to find a way to get her to agree with this, she does not want her spoiling it and she is afraid that David would change his mind after seeing Karen like this, she had expected her to feel bad for herself about this but not get angry at her. "Do not tell me to calm down, I need to go and talk to David, this cannot happen," Karen snapped furiously at Mica and turned towards her door as she was going to go talk to David about this, she needs to hear him say this to her himself since she finds it absurd that her husband could propose to her best friend Mica. "He does not want to see you, Karen," Mica blotted out again in a bid to try and stop Karen from going to meet her husband, David, and as she expected, Karen stopped abruptly and turned to face her. "What?" Karen furrowed her brows at Mica angry at her statement, "why would he not see me? I am his wife and he is going to see me. I will explain to him how all this came to happen, he needs to know that this was a setup," Karen turned towards the door again, she almost stumbled on the door because of the tears that has gathered in her eyes and bluring her vision. Mica bit her lower lip, feeling very angry right now about Karen's behaviour, running behind her as she walks out of her living room, "Karen, Karen," she called after her as she walked towards her car. Karen stopped abruptly again a few steps away from her car and turns to face Mica, "what is it, Mica," she snapped, furrowing her eyebrows at her, she cannot believe that her best friend is trying talk her out of speaking with her husband, and is considering getting married to him too. Mica saw the look on Karen's face, she cannot recall seeing this kind of anger in her face before, how in the world is she going to talk her out of seeing David in order not to ruin her plan? "Look, Karen, I am not your enemy, alright?" She said, trying to choose her words correctly, hoping that Karen does not suspect her, "I am saying this for your own good, I want to help you, please allow me to help you," Mica said slowly walking closer to Karen whose brows are still furrowed at her, "Look, if I do not agree to marry David he is going to marry another woman immediately, that was what he told me when I asked him not to be ridiculous after his proposal to me," Mica explained slowly, her hands stretched forth towards Karen. "What?" Karen's eyes dilated, this has gone beyond her expectations, she thought that leaving David to come to Mica's house was a good idea but now she think that she has taken a wrong decision, she truly needs to go and talk to David about all of this and she needs to do it fast, she said within her and without waiting for Mica to speak further she turned towards her car again but just before she could get to it, she saw David's car drive into Mica's space and then pulled over beside her car, she felt her spine quiver as she saw David step out of his car followed by two other men who she has never seen before. She glanced at Mica who walked a few steps forward, from her facial expression she thinks Mica is as surprised as herself to see them here, and she is wondering what this is about, but whatever it is she has a feeling that it will not be good. "David, what are you doing here?" Karen heard Mica ask as David walked towards them before she could say anything. David ignored Mica completely and walked towards Karen instead, his brows furrowed and his jaw lines tightened, he also folded his palms into a fist in his pants pocket as he saw the pale look on Karen's face when he walked closer to where she is standing, how dare she choose to cheat on him with another man when she cannot be happy with him? He asked within him, his eyes fixed on her, getting angrier at the sight of her pale face and how unkempt she looked, she deserves it anyway, he said inwardly not wanting to feel pity for her, he is going to make her suffer even more for her betrayal, "I have come to get my car from you," David said in a deep voice ignoring the dark circles he saw under her eyes as he stood closer to her. Karen staggered back a little feeling her legs quiver as David's words resounded in her ears, "I have come to get my car from you," she place her hand as quick as she can on her car to try and keep her from falling, this was not what she expected to hear from David, and at least not in the cruel manner in which he said it, looking into his eyes now she can see how much hatred he has for her or maybe it is her eyes playing tricks on her, "David, I need to talk to you," she muttered in a teary voice too.
