Chapter 1- Supernaturals
Synopsis
DESTINY AWAKEN
In the whispering shadows of Summerwoods, where moonlight danced with ancient magic, a legend slumbered—waiting for rebirth.
THE prophecy said. "A Tribrid child, born of three supernatural lines shall awaken in Shadow Falls, where destiny entwines. With heart afire and spirit bright, this child shall balance darkness and light."
Centuries passed, and the prophecy faded like mist, yet supernatural creatures in Summerwoods persisted. They waited, sensing the Tribrid's approaching birth, a catalyst for war or unity on this earthly earth.
A BABY GIRL APPEARED – ABANDONED IN SUMMERWOODS FOREST .
Found by mortal hands, adopted with loving care, Neriah Madison Grey grew unaware of her supernatural heritage. Her heart remained pure, spirit wild and free, until whispers of destiny beckoned her to Summerwoods Academy.
Chapter 1
It's a typical start for a teenager story, the first day of school.
I'm Neriah Madison Grey, 17 years old. I'm an only child which makes me feel lonely sometimes, I have no friends at my former school, the girls call me weird and the guys have other intentions that's why I remained alone.
I don't know what's wrong with me. Hindi naman sa hayok ako sa kaibigan pero minsan napapatanong ako kung bakit wala akong kahit isa?
I stared at myself in the mirror.
I sighed.
My parents said that my silver hair is natural, hindi rin nila alam kung bakit. Baka raw sa pinaglihian ni mommy noon.
I have silver straight long hair paired with my bright green with golden flecks eyes, I also have a porcelain doll-like complexion with bit of freckles, even my features are foreign.
I sighed again. I removed my thoughts, male-late na ako. Hindi maganda na unang pasok ko sa bagong school ko ay late ako. Yes, I transferred. My former school was Ravenswood Highschool but I got a recommendation to attend this elite school, the Summerwoods Academy. It's a dormitory school, the letter says it's all free so I grabbed the chance to have a new environment, buti naman pumayag ang parents ko.
Nang makarating ako sa gate ng school ay sinalubong agad ako isang malaking gate. It's indeed an Elite school.
It's a gothic-style architecture with towering spires, grand stone entrance with heavy iron doors, walls covered in ivy and moss. It's giving an old themed style but still has a beautiful appearance.
"Ms. Grey?"
A man with his Mid-40's approached me. He has a kind smile that made me comfortable.
"Yes?"
"We were waiting for your arrival, let's go." Iminuwestra niya ang malaking gate.
Naguguluhan akong tumango at sinunod ang gusto niya.
I walked through the grand entrance of the Academy. Again, I am amazed with this school's unique aura. The sweeping staircase curving like a ghostly smile, candelabras flickering with soft, eerie glow, portraits of former students and staff watching me like silent guardians.
I felt a mix of emotions, like excitement for new school and friends, nervousness about fitting in and classes and even curiosity about the school's unique atmosphere.
I gathered my thoughts. This isn't the time to think about that! May dapat pa akong gawin.
I approached the administration office to collect my schedule.
"Hi, I'm Aria Madison Grey - new student. Here to pick up my schedule?"
The secretary, Mrs. Jenkins, her nameplate stated, smiled warmly:
"Welcome, Aria! Yes, here's your schedule. Your first class is... Supernatural Literature. Room 666."
I raised an eyebrow at the room number. "666? That's... interesting. Is this class about horror novels or something?"
Mrs. Jenkins chuckled. "Something like that. Professor Kaida will explain. You'll love her class, I think."
As I walked out of the office, I noticed students glancing at me with curiosity, posters advertising school clubs - "Vampire Book Club" caught my eye, a guy leaning against his locker, staring at me intensely. I ignored him, he looks weird.
Pero bago ko hanapin ang unang klase ko ag hinanap ko muna ang locker ko para ilagay ang iba kong gamit.
As I walked down the hallway, searching for my locker number (1313), a friendly voice called out.
"Hey, new student! I'm Lilith - Lily for short. Welcome to Summerwoods Academy!"
I turned to see a girl with curly brown hair with purple streaks, piercing green eyes sparkling with warmth, bright smile and outgoing demeanor.
"Thanks, Lily! I'm Neriah Madison Grey, just call me Raya. Nice to meet you!"
Lily fell into step beside me.
"Locker 1313 is just ahead - I'm nearby, 1315! What brings you here, Raya?"
I shrugged.
"My parents moved here for work. I'm still getting used to this town and school - it's... quite different." I lied. I don't want her to know that I was a loner in my former school.
Lily laughed. She looks amused at me, I don't know why.
"Different is one word for this Academy! We have character - and great people. Want to grab books together for our first class... Supernatural Literature?"
My eyes widened slightly at the class title, but Lily seemed casual about it. Baka ako lang talaga ang OA dito?
"Supernatural Literature sounds interesting - like horror novels or mythology, right?"
Lily smiled knowingly but said only... Her smile is a bit creepy, pero kahit ganon ay di ko yun masyado inisip. Of course, we're in highschool, we don't believe at those things anymore.
"Something like that! Professor Kaida will explain. Shall we head to class together?"
I walked with Lily to room 666, Supernatural Literature class.
The hallway is in silence, tanging boses lang ng teachers ang nangingibabaw sa mula sa loob ng classroom.
"Thanks for walking with me, Lily. This school is still overwhelming - especially this class title!" I said.
Lily grinned mischievously. "Wait till Professor Kaida explains it. Her classes are... enlightening. Here we are - room 666!" She gleed.
We entered the dimly lit classroom. The Candelabras flickered softly, olld bookshelves lined walls, filled with leather-bound tomes, students chatted quietly, glancing up at me with interest.
Bakit ba kasi lahat ng students dito ay weird? Siguro dahil weird din ang aura nitong school.
"Wow, she's so pretty." Someone whispered.
Professor Kaida stood at the front, dressed in a long black dress with a silver pentagram necklace.
"Welcome, students. Today we explore folklore creatures in literature... and reality. Yes, reality." Aniya sa mababang boses. Her voice is soothing ang encouraging. Na parang kahit ang boses niya ay may hipnotismo.
My eyes widened slightly because of the confusion- reality?
I looked around, noticing a guy who sits brooding in the back corner, eyes fixed intensely on me. Ginala ko pa ang mga mata ko, another guy is leaning against his desk, watching me with interest. Other students seemed engaged, as if Professor Kaida's words weren't surprising.
"That's Archer Morgan, the moreno guy while the other one is Dos Vaughn." A cute guy whispered to me. He looks kind and charming. I smiled at him. "Liam." He winked.
"Raya..." I almost whispered.
"I know." He simply said.
Nagtaka ako. Kilala niya ba ako? Maybe narinig niya kay Lily?
Lily nudged me, whispering. "See? Told you Professor Kaida's classes are interesting. Sit with me?"
I sat beside Lily, trying to focus on Professor Kaida's words.
"Supernatural creatures have captivated literature for centuries - vampires, werewolves, witches... But what if these beings weren't just fictional?"
I leaned in, intrigued despite thinking. "She must mean symbolic or metaphorical representations, right?" I whispered to myself.
Professor Kaida paced slowly around the room. "Consider ancient myths - vampires rising from graves, werewolves transforming under full moons. Coincidence or inspired by truth?"
Students nodded thoughtfully, except me - I glanced at Lily, whispering. "She's really selling this 'supernatural in literature' theme - almost like she believes it's real!" It almost sounds like I'm convincing myself.
Lily smiled subtly, eyes sparkling with amusement, and whispered back. "Maybe she does, Raya..."
Professor Kaida stopped pacing near their desk, gaze locking onto me. "New student, Neriah Grey - your thoughts? Do supernatural creatures belong solely in fiction?"
I felt surprised to be called on, collecting my thoughts.
"Well, Professor Kaida - I think they represent fears, desires, or symbolism in literature... but purely fictional, of course."
The classroom fell silent - except for subtle chuckles from Dos and Archer. Parang hindi naman sila magkaibigan, they have the same mysterious aura but Archer has the tolerable one.
Lily leaned in close to me, whispering. "You have no idea how much you just amused the supernatural crowd... especially those two."
I followed Lily's discreet gaze too. Dos Vaughn - his eyes crinkled at the corners, hinting at suppressed amusement. Archer Morgan - his lips curved into a subtle smile, watching me with interest. Kanina ko pa napapansin ang mga titig nila pero ayoko naman mag-assume.
I whispered back to Lily. "Supernatural crowd? You mean fans of this genre or something? And what's with those two staring at me?"
Lily's whisper grew even softer. "Not fans, Neriah... actual supernaturals. And they're staring because you're... intriguingly clueless." She seriously said.
My eyes widened slightly - clueless about what?! Before I could press Lily for explanation, Professor Kaida continued.
"Interesting perspectives indeed. Let's explore supernatural themes in literature further. Group discussions - choose your topics and partners!"
Students began mingling, forming groups. Dos and Archer approached towards me and Lily.
Dos said low and smooth, "Mind if we join your discussion group... Raya?"
Archer added with a charming smile, "We promise enlightening insights." With a competitive tone.
The two looked at each other like they are killing each other in their minds.
My curiosity got the better of me, so I asked point-blank.
"Wait, what do you mean 'some of us'? Are you hinting vampires actually exist?" I confusedly asked.
The classroom around us melted away as everyone in our group leaned in, intrigued by my bold question. Para bang may mali akong sinabi na mas lalo ikinagulo ng isip ko.
Bakit parang ako lang dito ang walang alam sa alam nila?
Dos's expression turned intense, his voice low and mysterious.
"I'm saying exactly that, Raya. Vampires walk among us. Always have." He said mysteriously.
Archer nodded slowly beside him, his gorgeous eyes are gleaming with confirmation.
My mind reeled - I laughed nervously, thinking this was some elaborate joke or literary debate. Para akong tanga na tumatawa dahil sa joke nila pero napahinto rin ako nang mapansing seryoso silang lahat.
"You guys are really committed to this supernatural theme... or pulling an epic prank on the new girl?" Tanong ko. Inilalaban pa rin na prank lang lahat ng 'to.
But Dos's gaze remained dead serious, his voice whispering against me skepticism.
"No prank, Raya. Reality. Look into my eyes - do you see only fiction there?"
I felt drawn to his piercing blue stare - something unsettlingly really sparkled within us- like some sort of connection.
Suddenly, Lily spoke up, her voice barely above whispering.
"Raya, they're telling you the truth..."
What the hell?
