1093 Words
Alpha Zedro Territory Someone was brought in between two werewolves, it was Melissa wounded harshly Before I could move, she collapsed on the floor. My heart stopped. “Melissa!” I ran to her side, lifting her gently. Her breathing was shallow, her hazel eyes weak but perfect But then a voice interrupted me, “Alpha, she cannot stay here.” Darion stepped in, his l eyes hard as stone. “Yes she is injured but the clan is not where outsiders barge in she is putting all of us at risk I thought deeply. “Darion, she is staying, this is my decision. She needs treatment, and I am not arguing”. Darion’s jaw clenched, but he did not step closer. “ You do not know who she really is” he said. I stopped him. “Enough. She stays, Darion, If you cannot follow that, you answer to me.” Darion’s eyes narrowed, but he said nothing, his loyalty to me made him keep his anger in check. Inside the clan infirmary, I helped Melissa to a bed. The wound on her side was deep, but manageable. “Why were you wounded and how could you find us?” I asked as I held her hand. “I did not have a choice. I had to look for anyone and I saw a tiny light which had earlier led me here” she replied, her voice shaking. Darion was by the doorway, arms crossed, expression unreadable. “If anything happens to her here… it’s your responsibility, Alpha,” he warned. I ignored him, focused on Melissa’s pulse, her breathing. “You are stronger than you realize,” I said to her quietly. Darion’s tone softened slightly, surprising me. “Alpha… I do not trust why she is here, but if she stays, I will protect her, for the clan.” His eyes flicked to Melissa, “But I would make sure she does not remember anything that happened here and her way in”. Melissa groaned, moving slightly. “This… this mark,” she said, her voice trembling. I noticed a pattern near her injury. My stomach dropped. “It’s from them, the ones who wounded me,” she whispered. Whoever had attacked her was not random, it was linked to my past and I knew immediately it connected to my parents’ death. Tomorrow, we will begin uncovering the truth. But tonight, all I could do was guard her, The next day planning unit “Good morning precinct, today we would be working on some recent intermediate attacks, and the team would be divided into two, the first led by Inspector Voss, and second Captain Darion.” I said as I stood firm at the front giving commands. The leaders came to pick their file, “Ensure to give me a feed back at noon and at dusk, Good day”. I said and left At noon Melissa head of the first team walks in “ Sir you gave me a closed case file which I am to sign on, but sir on looking at the clues it not be closed, Here A wealthy tech investor lay dead near the balcony, a gun still clutched in his hand and it was marked as sucide due to no forced entry, locked doors, everything in place and of course to most people, the case seen like it is over.” She said her eyes scanning through the file which I accepted without hesitation. “But sir” she continued “ from the pictures taken something feels wrong. The man’s watch was on the wrong wrist. On the table nearby sat a single wine glass, marked with lipstick but everyone knew the victim does not drink.. There was also blood on the floor, and at the balcony railing. The angle did not match, Chief, and even If he had jumped or shot himself there, the blood wouldn’t have landed that way“This was not suicide,” she said calmly. “Someone wanted it to look like one.” I stared at her in admiration She explained how the gun could have been triggered remotely and how the ventilation had been locked to hide the timing of the death. It was clean and planned “Sir, I would like to look into this case file and give you valuable feedback at dusk,” she said. Her voice was polite and soothing. “Do your best Inspector.” I replied her and then she proceeds to her second file, “Sir in this file, the senator’s daughter had been kidnapped hours earlier, and the protocol was clear, secure the area and wait for SWAT, but sir in the CCTV footage, the child was lured across the warehouse instead of leading into the warehouse, “We are being played sir,” Melissa said sharply. “She’s not in there.” She continued while I kept on listening to her “ So what is your plan Inspector.” I asked her “Sir I am requesting for a change of plan,” Melissa continued. “She is already moving, I want the team redirected toward the loading docks nearby and spread out checking points.” “Okay then carry on Inspector.” I agreed to her request and she left. Not long after, Captain Darion walked into the briefing room. His posture was straight, with his face showing no expression as usual, and he held a thick file against his chest. “Sir,” he said firmly, “according to the report I was given a bomb detonated beneath the city, wiping out an illegal weapons exchange in seconds. Everyone involved was killed, and every trace of evidence was destroyed, it seems to be a camp for illegal activity and although we need to be grateful they were put to a stop, we also need to know why it was done.”He paused, then his lips curved into a slight smirk. “But sir the CCTV footage from within the premises shows something you might want to see.” The room grew quiet. Darion connected a USB to the projector, and when the screen started it showed a dark underground passage, the time was still on the screen as well. But just then two persons had walked through the passage, It was Melissa and some other guy. They he had passed the location exactly twelve minutes before the explosion. My breath stopped in my throat. “Melissa?” I said, my mouth falling open.
