CHAPTER 5: THE DIFFICULT CHOICE

MELISSA

I had left the office to attend to the case on my files, first we were heading to the kidnapped senator’s daughter's location and after the major suspects involved in the wealthy tech death would be brought in for questioning.

“Team, are we in check?” I asked using the connected earphones to each of my team's police vehicles on the road. “Yes Inspector Voss” they all replied from their respective cars, and we drove off.

However on getting to the road leading to the ware house I stopped them “Hello all, we would be dividing into two teams, first team would be at the warehouse work alongside S. W.A.T and ensures no one enters, while the other would drive with me to the checking point leading outside the city, Understood?” I asked, ending the command “Yes Inspector” they replied and the division took place.

I held the steering wheel tightly, drove off followed by the team heading for the direction of the checking point.

When we got there, just as I had expected we encountered a black car with a man and a lady looking couple like at the front. We hesitated at first but proceeded to check and at the rear of the car we saw the child laying unconscious, we arrested them and just when I thought it has ended I received a call.

“Inspector Voss, it's lieutenant Agra giving information from the team you sent to the warehouse, there was an explosion from inside the warehouse” the police reported. “A bomb?” My palms began to feel sweaty. “Yes, a bomb exploded, but luckily no one was inside. It seems as though the kidnappers had the plan of ending the parents' lives and taking the child in the hope of high earnings from the parents' wealth in the future.” the lieutenant Agra said. “Okay lieutenant, we would further investigate at the precinct, thank you.” I said as I ended the call

I breathed a sigh of relief while we headed back to the Precinct. On getting there I was led to the interrogation room to question the suspects.

I would be handling the first file of the wealthy tech while I left lieutenant Agra to interrogate the suspect from the second file, the kidnapped senator’s daughter.

The suspects I interrogated separately were a driver, cleaner and chef of the wealthy tech and were the only ones around at the time of his death

After the questioning and the report I had received from the lieutenant, I smiled, justice would be served.

AT DUSK

MELISSA

I knocked and walked into Chief Zedro office. “Good day Chief.” I greeted while I walked in, “Good day inspector Voss.” He replied but I noticed he face looked moody and yes his voice was cold. But anyways why am I concerned I'm here to give my feedback so let me do that and leave.

“Sir I'm here to give my report on the files handed to me , well sir from the first, we were able to apprehend the culprit as the chef because the liquor was from the kitchen and the lip stain matched her DNA, and while interrogatin them separately I noticed she was a bit more quiet than the rest when I showed them the photos of the harm done to the tech body, as though she had seen it before, finally I questioned her, told her reason why she would be on higher risk if she does not admit immediately, and of course she started crying saying he had r***d her earlier and I gave her an assurance that she would be able to seek an appeal for not guilty in court.” I said ending the first report

“Okay” Zedro replied. Okay!!! This is unlike Zedro So short and cold something was wrong but I just can't prove it.

“Sir the second report gathering all the information lieutenant Agra gave on the encounter and questioning, the culprits were the senator’s Brother and his wife, they planned on ending to lives of the child's Parents and being the only family left, would bring the child with them and have the Senator’s possessions as theirs using the child as a route. They have been held in custody awaiting trial.” I said hoping to see him change his mood

“Well done” Zedro said without looking at me, Something had happened and I needed to know

“Is anything wrong sir” I asked my eyes dropped dead on his face.

“Did you hear of the bomb attack the day before yesterday”. Zedro said now his head raised his eyes narrowed looking sharply at mine

“Yes sir, but that has to do with captain Darion case file so I decided not to meddle.” I said my hand laid on my sides I was awaiting his reply.

“And where were you that day Melissa?” He asked me, directly by my first name, his voice was cold his fist firm in his pockets.

“I do not understand sir.” I replied my face turned towards a USB stick in his hands. He stood up, came to me held my hand and we both went out of his office he was in the lead.

I could notice both male and female cops staring just when I thought I had seen it all a male suspect in handcuff guided by Darion and some officers walked past. The culprit looks at me and smirks.

“Still pretending to be the good one, Melissa?” everyone stopped. Zedro steps forward, “Do you know this man?” he asked me holding my hands more tightly.

I did not flinch. “No.” I replied and we kept on moving we went to the visual room not long after Darion joined us.

The USB Stick I had seen with zedro earlier was plugged into the projector and the scene involving I and a man walking past the bombed passage twelve minutes before the explosion was played.

I laughed which amazed both men in the room, I sat down. “Well sir this is an edit, if you can remember vividly at this day, I was with you at your office when we both remembered how our parents death link to that claw shaped metal.” I said as I smiled deep within. I liked how this was going Zedro immediately turned to look at Darion

“Captain?.” Zedro asked, his face twitched. “There is a mistake somewhere Chief.” Darion replied

I was already enjoying the moment, just then a rapid knock was heard at the door, “Come in” Zedro said taking a sit in order to look calm.

Lieutenant Agra walked in “Sir there are criminals attacking the west side of the city.”

Within a blink of an eye Zedro stood up “Inspector, Captain, lieutenant take some good officers with you, we are putting and end to some criminals today.” He said “Yes chief” we all said, heading to our duties.

I must admit I love the side of him cool, strict, giving orders but still a part of the team

Later that night

We had driven to the west side of the city and had attacked the criminals down to the outskirts of the city they were much but we were able to bring most down, however I noticed something off, my body was reacting strangely, I knew why, I looked up it is a full moon I need to hide somewhere to change once, howl and change back I struggle dealing with some criminals manged to go deep in the woods, I had started changing my fingers turning in to claws just then I felt a warm and calm tap on my back “Melissa” the voice said, I turned and to my greatest surprise I saw Zedro in his complete wolf nature
