“Chieeeff.” I screamed, I saw a man clad in black suit with a black rifle pointing directly at Zedro I rushed to him and just as soon as i pushed us both to the floor the man fired. Luckily, we escaped the bullets. And the man in black suit was shot by a police officer nearby. I paused lying on Zedro’s chest. We stared at each other for a long moment, then my head started to ring. Why were his hands delicate? Why does he have soft hair? Why is he so handsome? And why does he keep staring at me as if it means something more?
I quickly shook off those thoughts and got straight to business. I stood up, helped him up from the floor, “Sorry for the hard push” I apologized, my head slightly bent downwards “No, Inspector Voss, you saved me. I'm greateful”. He said and gave me a brief smile which I replied with a nod. The streets were quiet now, The assassins were dead, all of us in the police force began looking for clues. I moved towards the van and noticed Zedro was already ahead of me. We both entered “Something does not feel right.” I said as I scanned the area my senses were sharp.
A flicker of metal caught my eye under a glass, I bent to pick it up. It was a small claw-shaped metal, made of pure gold. It looked like someone had left it here and was still watching. Zedro moved closer, his eyes following mine. “What is it?” he asked. I kept my voice calm. “Someone left it on purpose,” I said. “It is either a warning or a message.” I said my eyes were still glued to the piece I found. Zedro took it and observed it, turning both sides
“I saw this on the chest of the assassin who confronted me and not just that, it was on the left side on all their suits but it was made with silver not gold, if it is so then just like you said they are surely under an authority of some kind.” Zedro said confirming all I had said
“It was planned work and whoever had set the ambush has not finished, They are patient and smart waiting for us to find this.” I told Zedro as I left the van to ensure other officers could come in and search. Zedro slipped it into his coat, “we were being tested.” he said as he stepped out after me, I looked at him. “We follow this,” I said. “And we find out who is behind all of this.” Zedro added.
Aside from police officers searching around, the streets were quiet again. Zedro walked beside me, calm, confident. I could see him scanning, and he could notice the small danger approaching. A shadow flickered in a broken window across the street. My pulse quickened. But something different happened. Zedro pulled me to him away from an attack, a metal beam swung toward where I had been standing. I realised he had his hands, one palm to my palm while the other clung to my waist. I froze, staring at him. “How did you? He brushed off the question, standing and checking the street. “Just paying attention,” He said, keeping his voice calm. Deep in my mind, I was already aware someone had been here, leaving a trap, testing us.
Later that night
“Father, I did as you said. I was able to lure him to the left road instead of the right.” I said as I looked toward where my father was seated. He sat between two guards clad in black suits, upon a golden chair behind a gold desk, for a wealthy businessman. But within he is an assassin, a tycoon business dealer, and a greedy, lust-driven father. I have struggled all my life trying to make my parents proud but I realise it only puts me on the negative side but still I want them to look at me with love not as a tool.
“I just laughed at the look on his face when he thought you cared and really told him to pass the left road so he could find the culprit. He failed to understand that an assassin wouldn’t give in so easily. You have made me proud, My daughter,” he said, a grin spreading across his face. “Yes, thank you Father,” I replied, cautiously.
“But, dear, never take me for a fool. I am certain you saw that golden mark in there. I left it there as a reminder that I am watching you.” father said as his hands clenched tightly. “No, Father, I would never do such a thing .” I quickly replied. Next I heard a loud thud as my father hit the desk so hard. “Do you take me for a fool? Do you think I did not know you stepped in between my men and that police officer you stopped them from arming hi.. Why are you drawn to him so soon?” He asked, the tone of his voice changed and his eyes narrowed looking at me.
“No, Father, I only needed them to trust me. After that, I would understand all their tactics and bring each and every one of them down,” I said, my head raised. “Well then, if you say so. Just ensure you do not snitch on me,” he replied as he turned back.“Yes, Father. I would not betray you” I replied “Well then, if you do not have anything else to talk about, you may leave,” he replied as I walked out cautiously.
I stepped out, I looked upwards towards my mother's window, she was standing there, I saw her looking at me. When our eyes met, she closed the curtains and went inside as usual. Deep down, I always wished she had loved me. I do not know why she ignores me or why she does not even see me as her child.
But it was already done,I would move on without her and live my life. I stepped into the Audi 6 my father had gotten for me after I completed a mission. “At least I got a bit of my Dad's love.” I said trying to reassure myself and drove off. But, after I had driven for a while I saw a road block, I came out to move it aside, when I was done I went back to the car, just as I was about to open the door I felt a gun directly on the skin of my neck
