– 31 – Cory remembered her promise to call Betty to plan a date for the spa. She figured Betty would forgive her delay, as it had become a bad but forgivable habit to forget a promise when events spun either of them in different directions. Betty answered the call, “I forgive you. What’s up?” Cory related the neighborhood news. “Your life is never dull even in laid back Del Mar. I’m glad it all turned out well. So when are we doing the spa thing?” “Is next Sunday good for you?” Cory asked. They agreed to leave at eight in the morning. Betty would pick her up and drive there and Cory would drive back. Cory sighed in delightful anticipation. Early Sunday morning coastal fog made for poor visibility, but the jolly TV weatherman reported better conditions a few miles east of the coast.
