I let out a small teary giggle as Nikolai lowered me into the bathtub. He smiled, then gently adjusted me in it, taking away my robe. He leaned back and kissed the sensitive v spot just beneath my neck, then my cheek, and then my forehead.
"I love you," he whispered, then gently caressed my skin. "We will be fine."
I slowly nodded. "It must have been so hard doing it alone."
He shrugged. "I wasn't trying to survive."
"Nikolai."
"I am now. For you. For us. I will check in with a doctor here. I don't want to cut our vacation short because..."
His eyes fell, but he didn't need to say more. He couldn't end this vacation early because it kifht very well be his last.
"And your dose?" I asked. "What will happen now?"
He shrugged. "I am looking into it, sweetheart. It will be fine."
