AURORA For the past few days I've been in my room. Reading my books. Play some games, then sleep. Wake up again...eat. Strangely, none of the other quadruplets have come close to my room; it's all like Cassian was right, so they were pretending, and my mother hasn't come to see me either. The sun was finding its way to my room. When I glanced at the clock, it was just 10am in the morning. I had just taken my bath, so I lay on my bed staring at nothing. A knock sounded softly at my door, and I knew it was one of the Omegas here to serve me my food. So I climbed down from the bed and headed towards the door. "Good morning, my princess" She bowed her head and greeted me sweetly. "Selene, how're you doing?" I asked, and she smiled. "I'm good, my princess. I'm sorry to announce it, but I can't bring your food to you today; I was only ordered to bring you down for breakfast" She said. "I don't feel like coming down...." "My princess, I can't go down without you. I will be severely punish, please just come with me, please, my princess" Selene begged. I sighed aloud before closing the door behind me, "Sure, let's go!" We walked down the stairs, and when I looked at the dining table. The quadruplets were there along with my mother. Lucien was the first to glance my way, and then he smiled at me. Still the old playful Lucien, but Cassian had made it clear that they were all pretending, making me look away from him. I sat down without saying anything nor greeting anyone. I was served my food, and I immediately started eating so I could leave as quickly as possible. It's best I keep my distance from them. "What's wrong, Aurora? Did something horrible happen to you?" My mother asked. "No," I shook my head in denial. I felt her gaze lingering on me for a little while before shifting back to the quadruplets. From the corner of her eyes, I could feel her piercing gaze on them. "Mother Lois, will you stop the glare? I'm innocent in this. In fact, I haven't seen her for quite some while now, so I'm not the one who offended little princess. I'm also wondering why she's all gloomy..." Lucien stated, raising his hands up in the air. "I know it was one of you who offended her; now, who among you saw her last?" She questioned. "I saw her at the gymhouse last" "I think I saw her at the pack house" "I told Killian to see her back to the castle" "I saw her at the gym house as well" They all answered, including Cassian. He wasn't lying, though; he saw me last at the gymhouse. "Mother, I will be going back by the weekend," I announced and the table immediately went silent. "Going back? Darling, I thought you were here to stay?" She questioned, and there was a hint of sadness visible in her voice. "I never said that; it was you who guessed that. I only came to see how you were faring; that's all. Now you're fine; I will be leaving" I lied. I obviously came here for a fresh beginning, but I've been deprived of it. "But you...." "I can't stay here, Mom; you've got to understand" I half yelled, and she immediately looked away. She was hurt…way hurt. She doesn't want me to go, but I can't, I can't stay here. I'm not welcomed here. I'm not even welcomed anywhere I go. "Fine then, there's a party that's been hosted this evening in the pack house. Cassian will be escorting you to the mall to go get some new clothes for you to wear" She gave her orders, and my eyes immediately bulge out. Cassian?? Why would she choose that prince to take me there? "I don't...." "If that's the last thing you do for me, Aurora, I will really appreciate it" She stood up and eventually left the dining room. What am I even doing? Why am I doing this? In the process of satisfying another person. I'm hurting the one person I hold dear to my heart. I'm hurting my mother. She has been so excited with me around, but now I'm leaving, and she's looking all sad and down. The quadruplets all kept quiet. None were saying a word, and that was good at least. "If you're done eating, please let me know, Prince Cassian" I stood up from the chair and walked directly to the living room. Moments later he showed up, "Follow me!" I immediately stood up and followed. He led me to the side of the castle and inside a tall building. There were lots of cars around, but I didn't have the time to start drooling. He headed to one and pulled the door handle, opened it, and got inside. I hissed and also got inside. A man was seated in the driver's seat as he ignited the car and drove into the streets. The ride was silent as I sat by the window, watching the scenery pass by without saying a word. The beautiful view outside should have distracted me, but my mind kept returning to the same words. "Leave while you still can" "Your presence irritates me" "Take your things and leave" No matter how many times I tried pushing them away, they kept replaying in my head. I tightened my fingers around the fabric of my dress and looked outside again. Maybe this was for the best. Maybe I had been foolish to believe I could actually have a new beginning here. A soft sigh escaped my lips. Beside me, Cassian remained quiet. I could feel his gaze on me occasionally, but I refused to look his way. There was no reason to. The person who made it clear he didn't want me here didn't deserve my attention. "Are you always this quiet when someone hurts you?" His sudden question caught me off guard, and I slowly turned my head and looked at him. His expression was unreadable, just like always. "Why do you care?" I asked. For a moment, he didn't answer as his eyes slowly shifted away from mine. Interesting. The great Prince Cassian Black suddenly didn't have an answer. "I was only asking" He finally said. "Right, because you care so much about how I feel?" I let out a small, humorless laugh. And silence returned again. I turned back towards the window. I didn't want to argue with him anymore. I was tired of trying to prove that I wasn't the person they thought I was. After a few moments, his voice came again. "You haven't left your room for three days" "Are you keeping track of me now?" My eyebrows furrowed at him. "No" He answered immediately. And that answer came too quickly for me, making me look at him suspiciously. "You stopped eating with everyone. You stopped talking to Lucien either, and you haven't even stepped into the gym house...." I stared at him strangely. Why did he notice? "You seem to know a lot about what I've been doing for someone who doesn't like my presence" I said and his eyes met mine. For a second, I saw something different. Not anger, but something else. Something I couldn't understand. "You are impossible, Princess!" He murmured. "And yet you were the one who told me to leave" A bitter smile formed on my lips. "Don't worry, Prince Cassian. I won't stay long enough to irritate you anymore" I continued before he could speak. The moment those words left my mouth, something flickered in his eyes. Something close to regret. But it disappeared so quickly I almost thought I had imagined it. "You really believe I meant that?" His voice was low this time around with some hint of emotions. I froze. What kind of question was that? Didn't he literally say those cruel words to my face? "You said it, Cassian!!" I rarely called him by his name, and judging by the way his eyes narrowed slightly, he noticed. "You told me my presence irritated you. You told me your brothers wanted me gone. Why would I think you didn't mean it?" I can't really forget those words of his, nor will I take it lightly. His lips parted slightly, but no words came out. And it was like he didn't know what to say. "I'm not angry anymore, I'm just tired..." "Tired of always feeling like I have to convince people I'm worth keeping around" The words were quieter than I intended. The car became completely silent, and I immediately regretted saying it. I don't like showing weakness. Especially not to him. Cassian looked at me for a long moment before speaking. "You think that's what I meant?" I didn't answer. Because honestly, I don't know. "You think I see you as someone not worth keeping?" He asked. "Don't you?" I asked back. Another silence. Then the car slowed down as we approached the city. Cassian looked away, his expression once again becoming unreadable. But this time, I noticed something. He looked troubled. And somehow, that confused me more than his anger. Because I knew how to handle hatred....but I don't know what to do with someone who looks like they regretted hurting me.
