AURORA
The first thing I did after opening my eyes was to look around. My heart skipped when I realized I was back in my room.
How did I get here?
I slowly pushed myself upright, glancing around the familiar space. Then everything came rushing back.
Levi.
The rejection.
Sarah.
The pain.
And then...
That stranger.
I touched my lips subconsciously, remembering the warmth of his kiss. There was something about him that refused to leave my mind.
Who was he? and why did he save me?
Why did he come for me when everyone else had simply watched me suffer?
And most importantly...Why did he take my pain away?
I rubbed my lips again, my cheeks warming at the memory. That had been my first kiss and strangely enough, I didn't regret it.
Whoever he was, I was grateful to him. He had saved my life when I didn't even want to be saved.
I pushed the thought away and climbed out of bed. There was no point staying here any longer. I had to leave.
I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and stared at the screen for a moment before scrolling through my contacts.
Mom.
She was the only person I could turn to now.
I pressed her name and placed the call against my ear. If only I had known something like this would happen, I wouldn't have stayed behind.
I wouldn't have held on so tightly to everything I thought I had in this pack. My mother had found her second-chance mate five years ago.
He was the Alpha of a neighboring pack, and she had begged me to leave Silvermoon Pack with her but I refused.
At the time, I couldn't imagine leaving the only home I had ever known. Now I regretted that decision.
The call connected on the second ring.
“Hey, baby girl, are you finally missing your mother?” My mother greeted cheerfully.
“Hi, Mom" I smiled faintly.
There was a slight pause before I continued. "Can I still come over and live with you?”
Silence filled the other end and I rubbed my palm slightly.
“Mom?”
“Of course you can!” She finally exclaimed, her voice immediately brightening.
“You can come and stay with me for as long as you want"
“As long as I want?” Could she really guarantee that?
She was the new Luna of another pack now. Wouldn't having me around become an inconvenience?
“You're worrying again, aren't you?” she asked, almost as if she could read my thoughts.
I remained silent.
“I said you can stay as long as you want. So you'd better start coming. I want to see my baby girl today" She continued warmly
A small smile touched my lips. “Okay, Mom"
“Good. I'll be waiting for you"
The call ended and I stared at my blank screen for a moment before letting out a long sigh.
I had to go. There is nothing left for me here anymore.
I immediately opened my wardrobe and began pulling out my clothes.
I packed only the things I needed, stuffing them into my suitcase before heading into the bathroom.
After taking a quick shower, I changed into fresh clothes and stood in front of the mirror.
I stared at my reflection. My eyes were swollen from crying and my face looked tired.
But underneath the exhaustion was something else.... A strange sense of relief.
I was finally leaving Silvermoon Pack. Maybe this was my chance to start over.
I grabbed my suitcase and gave my room one final glance before stepping outside.
I headed toward the subway station, dragging my suitcase behind me.
Luckily, the station wasn't far from my home. The train arrived shortly after, and I climbed inside.
I found an empty seat near the corner and settled down. As the train began moving, I stared through the window.
I should have been thinking about my new beginning but instead, my mind returned to him.....Levi.
He had left me for Sarah, he had chosen her over me. My fingers tightened around the edge of my seat.
She used to be my friend....my closest companion.....but everything changed after the day she humiliated me at school...after she mocked me and then....
I had stopped associating with her after that and now she had humiliated me again. Only this time, she had taken my mate from me.
“Cici?”
I reached for my wolf through our bond but meant silence instead.
My brows furrowed.
“Cici, are you okay??" I called out but still nothing.
“Cici?”
Panic immediately settled in my chest. Why wasn't she answering?
“What if something happened to her?” I whispered.
My breathing became uneven.
“What if...”
I shook my head.
“No. No, that can't be”
I closed my eyes.
“Cici, can you hear me? Please talk to me.”
My heart sank deeply. The rejection....could it have taken her from me?
“No...” I whispered as tears filled my eyes.
I had lost my wolf.
I had lost my mate.
I had lost everything.
I cried silently for the rest of the journey, praying that somehow Cici would answer me but she never did.
I didn't even realize how much time had passed until the train finally slowed down.
The doors opened, and I stepped out with my suitcase. I wiped my tears and looked around.
“Lady Aurora?”
I immediately turned around and saw two men walking towards me.
Fear briefly gripped my chest.
“You're Lady Aurora, right?” One of them asked and I nodded cautiously.
“Luna Lois sent us to pick you up. Please come with us"
Luna Lois??
My mother's name.
Relief washed over me immediately. These men were here because of her. I followed them while clutching my suitcase tightly.
Outside the station, a black car was waiting.
“Please, my lady” One of the men opened the back door for me.
I hesitated for a moment before stepping inside. The door closed behind me, and the car began moving.
At first, I watched the scenery through the window. Then my eyes widened. This pack was sure beautiful.
The roads were wider and cleaner than those in Silvermoon Pack. The buildings were grander. Everything looked more developed and even the people seemed different.
My mother had definitely hit the jackpot. The man she had found wasn't just an ordinary Alpha because everything about this pack screamed power and wealth.
After what felt like a short drive, the car finally slowed.
“We're here, my lady”
I looked through the window and my eyes widened when I saw the enormous pack house standing before us.
How did we get here so quickly?
One of the men opened the door and I stepped out shyly. I wasn't used to being treated like this.
Before I could even take another step, a familiar voice called my name.
“Aurora!”
My mother came rushing towards me. She pulled me into a tight embrace.
“I've missed you, my big baby!”
“I've missed you too, Mom!" A genuine smile finally appeared on my face
I hugged her tightly, allowing myself to enjoy the warmth of her embrace. But the moment she pulled away, her smile faded slightly.
“What happened to you, Aurora?”
I froze at her sudden question.
“Tell me what really happened?
I didn't know what to say because I wasn't expecting her to question me.
“I... umm... I...”
She studied my face for a moment, then her expression softened.
“It's okay” She gently patted my back.
“You can tell me when you're ready"
That was my mother. She's never one to force you to speak before you're ready.
“Come on,” She said, taking my hand. “Your stepbrothers are waiting for you".
“My... stepbrothers?” I blinked in shock.
“Yes.”
She pulled me towards the entrance and my heart began pounding again.
I wasn't ready to meet anyone.
Especially not four strangers who were now apparently my stepbrothers.
Wasn't this happening a little too soon?
