AURORA I stayed in my room for most of the day. I unpacked my clothes, arranged a few of my belongings, and tried to make the unfamiliar room feel a little more like home. But no matter what I did, my thoughts kept drifting back to the same person......Kieran. There was something about him I couldn't understand. Maybe it was the way he looked at me or the strange familiarity I felt whenever he was near. “Maybe I'm just overthinking everything" I sighed and fell back onto the bed. A knock suddenly sounded on my door and I sat up immediately. “Come in" The door opened, revealing a young maid standing outside with her head respectfully lowered. “Lady Aurora, the Luna has called you down for dinner" She informed and I mouthed an “Oh" I glanced at the clock and it was already evening. I quickly climbed off the bed and followed her downstairs. Something about the formality of this place still made me uncomfortable. Everyone called me Lady Aurora. The maids bowed whenever they saw me. Even the guards treated me like someone important and I wasn't used to any of it. It had barely been a day since I arrived, yet I was being treated like an actual princess. When I reached the dining room, my mother was already seated. So were the four princes. And at the head of the table sat a man I hadn't met properly before. My instincts immediately told me he's the Alpha. I hesitated at the bottom of the stairs when everyone's attention immediately turned towards me. My fingers tightened around the hem of my blouse as nervousness kicked in. “Baby girl, come sit with mama” Mom called warmly, pulling out the chair beside her. A small smile appeared on my face as I walked over and sat beside her. “Aurora, once again, these are your stepbrothers" She pointed towards each of them. “Cassian, Lucien, Julian, and Kieran” Then she gestured towards the man sitting beside her. "And this is their father and my mate, Alpha Ronan of DarkBlood Pack" I looked at him and quickly straightened in my seat. “It's a pleasure to meet you, Alpha Ronan" I extended my hand and he accepted it with a brief shake before smiling. “The pleasure is mine” His gaze lingered on me for a moment. “I've been looking forward to finally meeting Lois's daughter. And I must say, you're the spitting image of your mother" He praised and I smiled shyly. “Thank you, sir" “Your sons also look so much like you too. If I hadn't been told beforehand, I might have mistaken you for their older brother” For a moment, the room was silent, then Alpha Ronan burst into laughter. His deep laughter filled the dining room and my mother joined him, laughing softly. “See? I told you my daughter knows how to brighten up a room” My mom said proudly. “Your mother wasn't exaggerating.....You certainly know how to make people feel comfortable" Alpha Ronan shook his head, still smiling and I couldn't help but laughed softly. But while Mom and Alpha Ronan continued talking, I noticed something. None of the princes were participating in the conversation. Cassian ate quietly. Julian barely looked up from his plate. Lucien occasionally glanced in my direction. And Kieran... He hadn't looked at me once. I couldn't understand him. Earlier, he had told me he didn't hate me, but right now, it was almost as if I didn't exist. I lowered my gaze and continued eating. Maybe he really didn't care or they don't care. Dinner eventually came to an end as the princes left one after another, and I was escorted back to my room by one of the maids. Once I was alone, I changed into something comfortable and climbed into bed. I picked up my phone and as usual no messages nor notifications was waiting for me. I stared at the screen for a few seconds before tossing it aside. I don't have anyone to talk to. I have no friends nor siblings of my own...no one in particular. I rolled onto my back and closed my eyes, eventually, sleep took over. I didn't know how long I had been asleep, but when I suddenly woke up my throat felt dry. I sat up and swallowed. I needed water. I climbed out of bed and quietly opened my bedroom door. The hallway was dark and I walked downstairs, following the faint light coming from the living room. I was almost at the kitchen when I heard voices making me stop on my tracks. “What do you mean she's going to be living here?” The voice belonged to one of the princes. “What's wrong with that?” Alpha Ronan....that was his voice. “Are you sure this is the right thing to do? Wouldn't it be better if we send her to the human world?” Another voice asked. I froze after realizing they were talking about me. “The human world? Are you insane? She's a werewolf” Alpha Ronan's voice sharpened and from my his tone he tells he doesn't likes that idea. “I know that,” Another replied. “But she doesn't have to stay here or are you trying to do it because of Lois?” “Wait?? Do you honestly think she could survive among humans without losing control of herself They were all arguing about me and that made me feel hurt. They don't want me around. That means they don't like my presence here. Well that's fair. Even I never liked the idea of my mom leaving home to come here. I felt hurt and betrayed then, I felt like she was abandoning me so I could also tell how they're feeling. They might be thinking that their fathers attention is going to drive to me and my mother and also they don't want other people around them as well. Fair enough. Maybe coming here wasn't such a good idea after all because all I'm doing is getting in their space. "What do you think you're doing?" I heard a voice behind me and I turned around only to see one of the prince standing behind me. Blonde hair.... that's Lucien. Because I've got to use their hair difference to tell who's who. "Lucien? You...." I peeped inside again and in my surprise he clearly isn't in there with his brothers. "I asked what you're doing here?" He asked moving towards me and I gulped down nothing. I've been caught in my act. His blonde hair looked almost silver beneath the dim hallway lights as his eyes narrowed the moment he glanced towards the living room. “I asked what you're doing here,” he repeated, stepping closer and my back met the wall. “I... umm...I came down for water” My cheeks burned in embarrassment. “For water?” He raised an eyebrow at me and I nodded quickly. But before I could say anything else, he leaned closer. His hand lightly brushed against my waist sending shocks of waves all over my body. He placed one arm against the wall beside my head. A strange shiver ran through my body as his face was suddenly much closer than I expected. And it made me felt like he was about to kiss me. “Do you realize they can smell you?” He asked his hot breath fanning my face. “What?” I didn't get what he meant and before I I could ask further Lucien's expression changed. For the briefest moment, his playful demeanor disappeared as he glanced towards the living room. Then he looked back at me. "Nothing” He straightened himself up before stepping away as though he hadn't just said anything. I stared at him in confusion wondering what he meant by that and also thinking why his touch had so much effect on me. I looked up and almost immediately Alpha Ronan walked out of the room. He didn't turned towards me, mostly because Lucien tall frame was covering me. The other princes stepped out and Lucien stepped father away from me. Their eyes immediately fell on me and I lowered my gaze quickly. I suddenly turned around and started heading out. "Thought you came down for water?" Lucien called after me. "Ye... yes I did, but now I don't feel like anymore" I said without turning around. "Because of what you heard?" He asked and I turned around only to see him standing so close to me. When did he got here? "Umm no...I just..." "Now don't take what my naughty brothers said to heart. They only meant your good okay" He grabbed my hands and started leading me down to the kitchen. "You called us naughty?" Cassian frowned. "Aren't you guys naughty? Is that the way of showing how much you care for someone?" He asked and Cassian glanced at me. "Don't get whatever you heard to heart, you didn't heard all and stop saying nonsense Lucien" Cassian turned and walked away. Julian and Kieran also glanced at me before walking along. There's only three of them who has spoken to me and that's Cassian, Lucien and Kieran although it was brief but for Julian.... have never heard him speak not even once. “Don't worry about them. They're not as scary as they look" He said and I looked at him. “I'm not scared of them" Which was true. “Good” “Take this with you so you won't get thirsty again" He handed me a bottle of water and I accepted it with both hands. “Thank you" “You're welcome, Little Princess" He smiled. Somehow the nickname made me smile. I had barely taken a sip when Lucien suddenly added, “Sleep tight, and get up early' “Why?” I quickly asked. “Because you're joining us for the pack run tomorrow" My body immediately froze at his words, “Pack... run?” “Yep" He nodded casually. “So be ready" Before I could say anything else, he turned around and walked away. I stood there holding the bottle tightly. A pack run tomorrow? How was I supposed to tell them? How was I supposed to explain to them that I couldn't shift? Cici was still silent. I had no wolf and tomorrow, the four princes were expecting me to run with them. My stomach twisted nervously....what am I going to do?
