Chapter 1
Chapter 1
"The one hundredth request from Adrian has been made. Complete this task, and your wish shall be granted." The voice of the Moon Goddess echoed in my mind.
Tears pricked the corners of my eyes. After three long years in the Shadow Pack, I'd finally made it. The final request. The end of the road.
I held the obsidian stone, etched with cursed runes, carefully in my hands, eyes fixed on it without blinking.
Maybe I had been silent for too long, because Adrian asked impatiently, "You don't want to do it?"
I came back to my senses and smiled at him, "If it's your request, I'm willing."
He froze for a second. "You... you love me that much? You'd even give up your life for me?"
The blood sacrifice ritual—only the most feared sorcery in the entire werewolf world. Seven days of soul-ripping torment. Your own life force drained into obsidian, used to burn away someone else's curse.
And once the ritual was complete, the sacrificer's soul would vanish entirely.
Sylvia—his fated mate. The Beta who'd turned him down four years ago. Now cursed, her life force withering away by the day.
I didn't hesitate. I picked up the blade and sliced open my wrist. The second my blood met the obsidian, it lit up with a dark, sinister glow. Pain blazed up my arm like wildfire. A cold force snaked into my veins.
The pain was unbearable, like fire racing through my veins.
It didn't just hurt—it devoured me.
The fire started in my arm, spread to my chest, then slammed into my heart like a fist.
It felt like invisible claws were shredding me from the inside. My wolf soul let out a tortured howl.
I dropped to the floor, trembling, blood pouring from my lips.
Adrian's expression shifted—just a flicker—but before he could move, the door burst open.
"Adrian, what happened? Did she refuse?!"
A rush of high-ranking werewolves spilled into the room, all loyal to Adrian. They froze when they saw me on the ground, bleeding, broken.
"She agreed?! Adrian, your way with females is insane! She's really willing to die for you?!"
Someone scoffed. "What's a life, anyway? One drunken word from Adrian back then, and she was throwing herself at him like some lovesick pup."
Their laughter cut through me like blades. But I didn't look at them—I looked at him.
Adrian stood in front of the light, backlit and unreadable. I couldn't see his face. Only his eyes, flickering with something I couldn't name.
He said, "Seven days from now, I will officially claim Elara as my chosen Luna."
Everyone went silent. They expected me to be overjoyed, but I only smiled faintly.
I knew he didn't truly want me to be his Luna. But it didn't matter. In seven days, my wish would be fulfilled, and I would be gone forever.
