CHAPTER 22Jimmy took Christy back to Cary Lennox’s place to apologise to his friend for her inexcusable behaviour. Cary didn’t say much though, merely mumbling a resigned, albeit grudging, acceptance of her apology. He thanked Jimmy for going out of his way to bring the girl back and asked if he was sure he didn’t want to keep the Kawasaki for a while longer. The bike, gleaming black with the fluorescent white skull painted on the side of it, stuck out like a sore thumb and would attract almost every other cop on the road. It was wisest, as Jimmy pointed out, that they travel as inconspicuously as possible, not to advertise themselves.
