Chapter 1
Janice POV
Janice walks up to Dane with confidence in her voice, and her face is lit up.
"I heard you are my new mate," she said confidently with a tint of sarcasm.
Dane with a shocked yet annoyed expression. "I suppose you are, Janice," with a smirk on his face.
"Yes, I am." Can we leave now? "I hate weddings," she said, wiping off the smirk on her face. Who the hell does he think she is? She thought to herself.
"We can't leave our wedding, we have to attend to our guest," Dane said, adjusting his suit with his deep blue eyes fixated on her.
Great, this is what I am going to deal with for the rest of my life. She thought. Okay, he likes being tough. I'll show him tough. “You know where to find me if you need me,” Janice said, swinging her beautiful thick black hair aggressively as she stormed away.
Danes POV
Dane watches as she walks away, shaking his head, wondering if he made the right choice. The noise from the crowd couldn't silence his thoughts. Dane's sister Melissa pops up beside him with her glass.
"I believe your mate is not impressed by your actions already, I guess the rumours are true. You married the most arrogant one in the Blue Royal family,” Melissa said.
“She is my mate now, Melissa, I suggest you watch your tone," Dane said with a slight hint of annoyance.
“I suggest you watch your new bride, brother. She is a hand full”. Melissa said, taking a sip of her wine.
"I think I can handle my mate," Dane said, now a little annoyed.
"Hey, Dane!!!" Diana said. Dane and Melissa were a little startled. Turning around, it was Dane's arrogant ex, Diana Ross, an attractive and mean-looking woman.
"Hi, Diana," Dane said with a slight hint of disappointment. What does this crazy broad want? he said to himself. Melissa excused them.
"I see you married beneath your standards," Diana said. "Everyone knows the Royal Blue family is the least of the royals," she said, staring directly into his eyes with her red gown and gold necklace.
What do you want, Diana? He asked, taking his eyes off her.
"When I heard the announcement, I had to come see it for myself. "I must say I expected more from you," Diana said.
"Expected more of what?" A familiar voice said from behind. Dane smirked as he saw his new mate with her arms folded, looking a bit annoyed at Diana.
Expect more from Dane's family, you are beneath him," Diana said confidently.
"Don't you dare talk to my mate that way," Dane said, releasing a little growl.
"Why so emotional? She said", laughing lightly. You were not this emotional last weekend at the roots.
Danes growl increases. He could sense that Janice was angry.
"Anyway, I wish you both the best of luck," she said. Walking up to Janice, she whispered. If you need any tips on how to manage Dane, I'm your gir". Diana said. Pushing past them and entering the crowd.
Who was that? Janice asked with an annoyed expression.
"That's Diana from the Diamond Family," Dane said.
Janice looked a bit shocked. But she shrugged her shoulders. "Why do I need lessons from her about you?" Janice asked, sounding a little hurt. Dane's heart dropped a bit to his surprise. He thought he cared too little about his new mate.
"We had a short history," Dane said, shifting uncomfortably. The music in the crowd became a bit louder.
"Find me in the garden in the next two hours, or else you won't take me home." I'm sure you can get yourself a new mate by then." She said, walking away before he could mutter a word.
Janice POV
She storms away from the hall with anger and disgust filling her chest. Why did she even care so much about Dane? They literally just got married, she thought. Her family was so delighted to give her out to Dane that nobody cared how she felt about it.
Melissa shows up with a glass of wine. Janice rolled her eyes. "Don't let her get under your skin so much, trust me.
"Dane has moved on," Melissa said.
"I'm fine, thank you," Janice says. Folding her hands defensively, doing her best to act nonchalantly.
I can see, I know Diana is attractive and classy, so it's okay to be scared. "It obviously affected you, and I am sure you don't like being ignored either," Melissa said. Keeping her eyes on Janice.
Her chest tightened. "I don't care!" "We just got married, your brother's history is none of my business," Janice said," knowing fully well that she cared about Dane's history way too much for a new bride."
"Don't be so spicy, I'm sure Dane will do his best to keep it as far away from you as much as possible," Melissa said.
Janice could hear the slight mockery in her tone. Janice wanted to speak, but she got interrupted by Dane's brother Jake, a younger version of Dane but as handsome as Dane was.
"Melissa, Dad is looking for you. Do well to conceal that glass," Jake said, eyeing the glass with a slight tint of disgust. Janice felt a slight tint of disappointment because she expected her mate to show up instead.
Turning to Janice with a warm smile. "Welcome to the family, I'll be your brother-in-law from now on,"
Jake said.
Janice smiled lightly for the first time today, she thought to herself. "Thank you," Janice said.
Melissa walked away, appearing to be slightly disgusted. She turns her glass of wine upside down, emptying it as she leaves both of them.
"I hope you are having a great time?" Jake asked, lifting the corner of his brow curiously.
"I am, thank you, but if I want to be honest, I really hate weddings," Janice said.
A familiar scent engulfs her. Dane's voice interrupts them. Janice's heart jumps a little.
"Ready to go, mate?" Dane asked.
Janice nods and waves at Jake. She begins to go towards the hall to say goodbye to her family. Why does he make me feel this way? She thought to herself as Dane and Jake walked behind her. This was going to be a long journey, she thought to herself.
