Chapter 4

*Leo’s POV* “You have got to be kidding me.” I grumbled when I saw Marcelo giving Lala a piggyback ride. “I’ll fūcking kill him.” “Leo.” Samuel whispered, holding on to my arm. “Relax. They are just friends.” “Honestly, they don’t look like friends.” Eleazar chimed in. “Don’t fūcking help me.” Samuel muttered as he smacked Eleazar on the back of the head. “You are coming with us, Lala.” I told her as she climbed off the fūcker’s back. “Why? I wanted to go with Marcelo and Carlos.” She pouted. “I said with me.” I hissed as I opened the door of the SUV. “Fine.” She said, rolling her eyes and climbing in. Samuel climbed in after her and I followed them. Eleazar closed the door after us before taking the driver’s seat. Our jet was about half an hour away, so, I pulled out my phone to check emails and texts. When I unlocked my phone, a picture I took of Cata appeared on the screen. My heart broke at the memory. *Flashback* “Come here, leonessa.” I growled as I pulled her by her ankle. We were snuggling in bed, but she kept being a pain in the asš. She insisted that we had shīt to do, but I had her to do. Again. “No, Leo.” She whined as she pulled away. “We already went at it four times. My pūssy needs a break.” “Okay, come snuggle at least.” I chuckled. “No funny business, I promise.” She turned to face me as she squinted her eyes. “Pinky promise?” “You are so fūcking cute.” I chuckled, sticking my pinky around hers before pulling her on top of me. “You promised!” She squealed, trying to get away from my grip. “I know, Cata. Just lay on your husband’s chest.” I whispered as I pecked her lips. “Not my husband.” She mumbled angrily, lying on my chest. “What did you say?” I asked her, faking anger. I couldn’t stay angry at her for long, anyway. “Nothing.” She whispered as she closed her eyes, snuggling closer. Within seconds, she was lightly snoring. She looked as beautiful as ever. But right now, she wore no makeup, her hair was messy, and her mouth was slightly open, making my heart beat even faster for her. I love every inch of my leonessa. I wish that this moment never ended, that we never had to let go of the other, and that I could freeze time to remember how happy we are. I decided to take a picture of her. I didn’t care if she fought me later, but I wanted to capture her beauty in this moment. I quickly snapped the picture, saving it on my wallpaper in the process. I looked at the picture for a few more minutes, realizing it didn’t do her any justice. I set the phone aside and tightened my grip around her waist. “I love you, baby girl.” I whispered to her before falling asleep shortly after. *End of Flashback* “Are you okay, Leo?” Lala asked me as she reached for my hand. “I’m fine.” I muttered before discreetly wiping the lone tear away. I started looking through the emails, going through the most urgent ones. “Any update on Clarissa’s replacement?” I asked Samuel. “We have a few candidates for the position. We just need to interview them.” Samuel replied. “I don’t have time for that. Just pick one.” I told him as I continued scrolling. “Don’t worry about it. I can interview them.” Samuel said quickly. “Don’t act like you are sacrificing so much by conducting the interview.” Lala laughed. “Leo, let me do it. This one would probably pick the best lay.” “You offend me.” Samuel chuckled as he placed his hand over his chest dramatically. “Cut it out you two.” I muttered as my phone rang. “Si.” I answered through clenched teeth. “Leo.” Danilo sighed. “I’m sorry. I crossed the line.” He said. I massaged my temples as I groaned in annoyance. “Fine. Whatever.” I replied. He was my best friend. I couldn’t stay mad at him even if he was an asšhole. “Don’t let it happen again.” “I won’t.” He told me. “Good.” I said. “Any updates on anything?” “Nothing on Fontana and the other Capos. There was an issue at Curvy Paradise, but I am handling it. The senator confirmed your meeting for tonight. Oh, and the Capo in New York is requesting to meet with you.” He answered. “Take care of the Capo in New York.” I told him. I really don’t have time for it. I’m just focused on trying to find my Cata. “Actually.” Danilo sighed. “She requested to speak to you. Personally.” He answered, making me roll my eyes.
“Of course, she did. Tell her that I won’t be available. When I find my wife, then I will start meeting with other Capos.” I told him as I cut the line. “Awe! You guys made up.” Samuel teased as he reached over to pinch my cheek. “Shut the f**k up.” I told him, smacking him on the back of his head. “So aggressive.” He chuckled. Before I could respond, Eleazar stopped the car. “Finally.” I muttered, opening the door. The day had just started and I was more annoyed than usual. I was not looking forward to this flight to France. *** A few hours later, we were finally landing in France. We walked over to the black, bulletproof Bentley SUVs parked side by side on the strip. The men I have settled here greeted us before opening our doors. Lala was walking towards Marcelo when I stopped her. She rolled her eyes before climbing into the SUV. “Take her to the hotel while I meet with the Senator.” I told one of my guys. “Nope.” She said, climbing out. “If I am not going with you to the meeting, then Marcelo is coming with me.” She told me as she crossed her arms over her chest. “Don’t test my patience, Lala.” I told her through gritted teeth. “You can’t expect me to trust anyone, right? And in foreign territory?” She asked with a raised brow. I closed my eyes as the words sunk in. She was so fūcking right. Lately, it has been bad decisions after another. I turned to Marcelo and glared at him. “If something happens to her—” I was saying when he nodded and interrupted me. “I would never let anything happen to her, unlike some people.” He muttered the last part before returning my glare. “You mother fu—” I was saying when Lala jumped in between us. “Am I wrong?” He questioned, making me lose my patience. “She was under your care.” He continued, adding salt on the wound. Lala turned to him before hissing. “Enough!” She said just as I pulled my Glock out. “One more fūcking word from you and you’re done.” I said through gritted teeth. “Capo, please.” Carlos begged for him. I couldn’t take how much his words affected me. He was so fūcking right, but I would never admit it to him. “Put the gun down, Leo.” Lala said as she reached for it. I sighed before putting my arm down. The only reason I didn’t kill him was because I didn’t want Cata to hate me, but if he keeps his shīt up, I don’t know if I would be able to control it any longer. “Let’s go, Samuel.” I hissed as I slammed the door of the SUV shut.
