Episode 1
The wind ran wild through the trees that night, as if it knew what the Crimson Moon would bring. Aria stepped onto the sacred clearing, her pulse drumming beneath her skin. Above, the moon blazed red, bleeding across the clouds like a warning. Around her, the pack gathered—cloaked figures lined the circle’s edge, their breaths misting beneath the cold sky, all waiting for the moment fate would speak. She clutched her hands tightly before her, fingers trembling despite her best efforts to still them. It wasn’t fear—at least, that’s what she told herself. It was hope. Wild, fragile hope that tonight would finally give her belonging. The Moon Choosing only came once in a lifetime. At eighteen, every unmated wolf stood beneath the Goddess’s eye, waiting for her mark to choose their mate. Some bonds sparked instantly. Others—blessed by time—ignited slowly. But when the mark revealed itself, it was law. No Alpha, no Elder, no tradition could undo it. And Aria had waited for this night like it was her last breath. She lifted her gaze across the firelit circle and found him—Kael Thorncrest. Alpha. Heir. Untouchable. His frame was rigid, arms folded over his broad chest, shadowed beneath the towering pines. Even from across the flames, Aria could feel his dominance rippling through the air like thunder before a storm. Eyes the color of winter steel. Jaw carved from silence. Power wrapped in cold armor. Her heart kicked once, hard. Kael didn’t see her. Or maybe he refused to look. But still, she watched him. Even now, even after everything, a part of her longed to be seen by him—truly seen. The High Priestess stepped into the ring. “Tonight,” her voice rang, clear and ancient, “we stand beneath the Crimson Moon, blessed by She Who Binds. May the bonds forged this night be eternal. May the broken never rise.” Torches flared. The drums began. Slow. Measured. Like a heartbeat. Then the magic fell. It struck like lightning, rushing through Aria’s veins in a white-hot surge. Her breath caught. The clearing tilted. Her knees buckled as light ignited beneath her skin—her chest burned, and with it came a scent. Cedar smoke. Stormwind. Salted steel. Not just any scent. A soulprint. Unique. Absolute. Aria staggered forward, mouth parting as realization slammed into her like a wave. Her mate… was here. Her mate was— Kael. He looked up at the same moment. His eyes found hers across the flames. Something flickered in them—recognition. Fury. Shock. “No,” he breathed. The wind went still. Aria moved toward him, unaware of the gasps or the circle closing behind her. She walked as if pulled by invisible string, drawn by the bond singing between them, tethered by something ancient and unbreakable. “Kael,” she said, her voice trembling. His expression hardened. She stopped. “Don’t,” he said, low and lethal. The High Priestess raised her staff. “The Moon has chosen. The bond is true. Do you accept—” “I reject it.” The words cut sharper than any blade. The drums fell silent. The wind died. Aria’s world stopped turning. The High Priestess blinked. “Alpha Kael—” “I reject the bond,” he repeated, louder. “I refuse this match.” Shock rolled through the clearing. Gasps followed. Someone whispered her name. Aria stood frozen. Her skin was ice. Her blood roared in her ears. She felt the bond stretch between them, then fray, then snap. Pain sliced through her chest—not a wound, but something deeper. Like her soul had cracked. “You can’t,” she whispered. “You can’t reject fate.” “I just did.” Kael’s voice held no remorse. No apology. Only finality. He turned away. Aria’s knees gave out. The High Priestess lowered her staff. “So it is broken.” No one moved. She forced herself to rise, spine rigid, eyes dry. She would not cry. Not in front of them. Not in front of him. Without another word, Aria turned and walked into the trees. Not one wolf followed.
