CHAPTER ONE
Under the warm sunset. The sky was orange and the clouds were beautiful as he stood on the deck of the voyaging ship, his dark chocolate-brown hair was swept outwards by the wind as his hazel eyes gaze at the setting sun. In three months the world will end leaving him no choice but to travel and retrieve the key to humanity's only hope for survival. Their gods Alpha and Omega have been defeated fortunately Omega was able to send them the only key to the unknown weapon that could defeat Raveno and his league of villains. As the oracle says the darkness would enter their world on the day the godly stars would align. The waves are calm and there is no sign of a coming storm. ‘Maybe the gods have blessed this weather for us? However, that can’t be happening since the gods of this world have already been defeated by evils,’ He thought. The wind blow harder making his hair messy yet never breaking his stare on the sunset. ‘Will this world also be defeated just like their gods?’ He asks himself. Suddenly, his thoughts were ruined when he heard his aide’s voice. "Your majesty." He landed his gaze on his aide, Lucas. And as he bowed his head to him, his dark and slightly spike-up hair were blowing gently by the sea breeze. "Did you accomplish your job well?" Lucas' olive green eyes met his gaze. "Yes your majesty, I have gathered the three kings in the meeting room just as you want." "Then let's be on our way there," He smiled. "Yes, your majesty." On this journey, he summoned the three kings in his empire, as much as possible they need to prepare for the big war. The ship was a little shaky because of the waves as they walk through a small and narrowed hallway, they pass through doors until they reach the last room at the end of the hallway. The knights guarding the door opened it for them and the noisy room began to silent when they entered. Mathew scanned the room and saw the familiar guests. "I am glad that everyone is here," Mathew announced and ordered everyone to take their seats. "We are also glad that your here and healthy as well, your majesty," Allen the king of Asvante replied as his sharp dark blue eyes landed on him. "As much as I wanted this meeting to be a little bit relaxing, I'm afraid I can't. I am sure you knew very well why I ask for your presence today and why I have summoned the three of you to accompany me for this journey." The room once again became silent. "As the oracle said in three months the godly stars will align and will open the door for darkness to enter this world. After we have retrieved the weapon that could help us win I wanted the three of you to be with me until three months to prepare our soldiers. However, whether we undergo them through a rough defense and offense training we cannot guarantee victory if we failed this mission," Mathew continued. "Your majesty, we have been with you all along and we will be with you till the end. However, may I ask what kind of weapon does Omega wants us to retrieve?" Casis the king of Rubiane boldly ask. “As of the moment, we don’t have any clue on what kind of weapon we will take. Currently, we are going to the western part of the Leberion continent to search for that.” “Pardon your majesty, but we don’t have any idea yet?” Allen questioned. “About the weapon? Not yet,” Mathew responded and eyed his aide Lucas. “Lucas, kindly tell us the information from the oracle,” He commanded. Lucas bowed his head in response and cleared his throat as he opened the scroll. “According to the oracle from the holy temple, Omega one of the high gods was able to send a message in a form of oracle saying, I am going to burn one of my stars and let it fall from the earth. In that falling light where no one could grasp but the ruler of mankind, was the realm where the ace was hidden. However, never let your guard down. For in there was the great Asmon the monster of light slumbers. The world is in demise, for me and my brother will soon be defeated after this. May the light of your hearts strengthened you all. That is the end of the oracle,” Lucas announced as he closed the scroll meeting everyone’s gaze. “Never once I have imagined that the world could be in too much distress. This makes me feel too old, oh how I wished I have taken my marriage proposals seriously,” Nathan announced. “Nathan, this is not a perfect time to joke,” Allen reprimanded and shot him with glares. “Come to think of it, we all are not married including his majesty?” Nathan continued. “Don’t drag us in your useless concerns will you?” Allen replied. “Allen, hold your patience. After all, the situation is not hopeless,” Casis inserted. Mathew remained silent and observe everyone. The four of them are colleagues that is why they are comfortable with one another. Allen Asvan, the king of Asvante though is perpetually sullen, arrogant, and undeniably short-tempered but he is sincere and extremely passionate about his responsibilities. Casis Rubia, the king of Rubiane might have a laid-back scheming and provoking personality yet he is kind, genuine, and loyal. Nathan Rion, the king of Leberion has a bombastic personality and is rather ignorant in other’s discomfort but he is a true friend and never wavers no matter who the enemies are. Mathew smiled in his mind, ‘it is rather comforting to face the end of the world with the people you have trusted.’ “Your majesty, we will assure you that we will give our best so that this mission will be successful,” Nathan assured. “Ah yes, I believe we can. However—” Mathew’s words were cut when suddenly the ship began to shake violently followed by a loud noise. The door in the meeting room swung open because of the shaking and suddenly a knight appeared in front of the doorway. "Your majesty we are under attack!" Mathew’s gaze became darker, “However, it won't be easy,” He said in a rather calm voice followed by a smile. They exited the room and went to the upper part of the ship to see the ruckus. To their surprise, tentacles were holding the ship almost sinking it. Mathew automatically held his sword and cut the gigantic tentacles . “The villain never wanted things to get smoothly for us, well this is what makes every adventure exciting,” Nathan grinned. “Quit babbling and help his majesty cut those tentacles!” Allen shouted while dodging the tentacles. “Lucas!” “Yes, your majesty?!” “See if there are ships who are in distress!” Mathew commanded while dodging the attacks from the monster’s tentacles. Lucas answered with a nod and immediately went to the deck to check the other ships. Ever since the gods have been brought down to their knees, monsters have gone berserk bringing calamity and chaos to their worlds. Despite the crazy swaying of the ship, Lucas managed to approach him. “Your majesty, there are no ships who got sink yet however they are also struggling from the monster’s attack!” Lucas said as he held his sword and cut a tentacle. Mathew’s holy sword began to flame as he focuses on finding the monster’s core however it is nowhere to be found, still dodging and cutting the tentacles he looked for Casis. “Casis!” He called. “Yes, your majesty?!” Casis responded who just finished cutting a tentacle. “Use your holy weapon and shield all the ships!” He ordered. Casis with no objection started to use his holy shield and began to make a barrier and somehow protected them from all the attacks. “Your majesty, the barrier would only last for an hour!” He said as his shield continued to glow. “An hour is plenty enough!” Nathan replied and swing his glowing spear as he raises it, suddenly the waves began to get strange and the sea began to split in two. The head of the Kraken began to show as the red ruby on its forehead began to glow. “Allen!” Nathan signaled. “No need to shout!” He responded and pulled out his bow, as he pulled the string, magically the air surrounding it began to form an arrow. It glowed as he let go of the string aiming for the monster’s core. The red gem was struck by the arrow and got broken. Mathew with a final blow swung his flaming sword and as he swings, there were flames in the shape of the blade that s***h the Kraken's head, as the roar of the monster echoed the place it began to turn into ashes. In a minute everything went back to normal, Mathew with a heavy breath landed his gaze on his trustees. “Is everyone fine?” He asks. “Fortunately yes, your majesty,” Casis replied. “That was one hell of a fight,” Nathan commented. “Why would a Kraken attack us? Usually, it won't attack if it is not disturbed?” Allen questioned. “Evil is slowly rising,” Mathew answered. “Not as long as we could complete this quest,” Casis said. “Yes, you are right,” Mathew smiled and faced Lucas. “Lucas, send a message to the knight commander and ask if there are injured.” Lucas responded with a nod and excuse himself to fulfill Mathew’s request. “Reynald,” Allen called his aide’s name. “Yes, your highness?” “Send a message to our ship and ask if there are any casualties.” The young man bowed his head upon hearing his order and went to send a message. Casis and Nathan also commanded their aide for the same instructions as they approach Mathew who was standing on the upper deck. The sky was already dark but only a few stars could be seen from the night sky, even though it was summer, the wind became cold and nothing could be heard but the waves’ impact on the accelerating ship. Mathew notice the three men’s presence behind him and faced them with a calm expression. “Do you have anything to ask?” “Yes your majesty, may I ask where did the falling star land?” Allen questioned. “It landed on the island of Deborus.” A moment of silence succumbs them after hearing the place. Deborus is an isolated island, however, it was a land of unknown species and there is a big chance that there are unknown monsters that could attack them which they did not encounter yet. “Well, it can’t be helped. After all, nothing comes easy,” Nathan said breaking the silence. “You really don’t know when to shut up right?” Allen replied. “Hold your horses Allen, Nathan may not look like he's smart but sometimes he gets the bull’s eye,” Casis commented followed by his smirk. “That is a lie, I am smart. Why wouldn’t I?” Mathew cleared his throat. “Well, what comes more shocking after hearing the world could end after three months, right?” He said as he shrugs his shoulder. “Well, the only thing that could put me in panic and disbelief mode could be hearing that this jerk could make someone fall for him within three months,” Allen replied while pointing at Nathan. “Don’t talk like someone already fell in love with you,” Nathan argued. “Let’s talk something more serious as adults,” Casis reprimanded. “I agree,” Allen replied as he gives death glares to Nathan. “Now, your majesty. As far as I know, no one could tell the exact location of that island aside from the idea that it is in the western part of Leberion, am I wrong?” Casis questioned. “Really?” Nathan seconded. “What? You’re the king of Leberion continent yet you don’t know?” Allen asks in surprise. “Well… how will I know I was so busy trying to solve issues within the kingdom?! I even almost forgot you exist!” He argued back. “Shut up,” Mathew commented making the argument stop. “You are not wrong. However, I have already determined the exact location of Deborus before we started this expedition,” He said as he gazes at Casis. “Then that’s a good thing to hear,” Allen replied. “However we must plan,” Mathew continued. “Yes, we must, your majesty,” Casis agreed. “Your majesty,” Lucas called and bowed his head as greetings. “Say your business,” Mathew replied. “There were no casualties according to the commander of knights as well as the troupes from the three continents.” “Good to hear,” He answered. “However, I have also a message coming from the captain of the ship, your majesty,” Lucas continued and met the intimidating stare of Mathew. “He said that we will be arriving at Deborus island by tomorrow before sunset.” Mathew remained calm upon hearing his aide’s message when suddenly Nathan broke the silence. “Your majesty, what will be your next move?” Nathan asks. “Your majesty, whatever your decision may be, know that we will support,” Casis proclaimed while Allen remained silent, waiting for the emperor to state his thoughts. Mathew gazes at the people in front of him waiting for his response. The wind blew harder filling the sails, the waves were once again can be heard. “After dinner, we will strategize a plan. Brace yourself tonight, for tomorrow no one knows what will await us,” He declared as he showed a reassuring smile. On that night, nothing could be heard but the gushing sound of the water. His dark chocolate brown hair was dancing along with the strong blow of the wind. It was a starless night indeed. However, is the uncertainty of tomorrow will kill the light of their hearts or it will make the flames inside them ablaze? No one could know and no one could tell. Not even their gods for they have already been put in absence. They could only grasp on their hopes that maybe they could still save the world from ending. The three kings excuse themselves and went to their respective rooms to rest for a bit before the dinner, only the emperor and his aide remained. “Your majesty, I have also prepared your room,” Lucas suddenly said thinking he might want to rest as well before dinner. “Thanks but it is more comfortable here. You can leave me, I will just call you when I needed something.” “Then, please excuse me, your majesty,” Lucas replied as he went inside. He remained at the upper deck of the ship, feeling the strong, cold, and relaxing sea breeze. His hazel eyes gently stared at the crescent moon as if the night sky grinned at him. ‘How did the world end up like this?’ He thought. In three months the world will end. In three months the darkness will devour the world, however, tomorrow will always stay as a mystery.
