Chapter Twenty
They went to an empty alley and Shin immediately jump away from her arms, without a second thought he turned back into his human form.
“How…How did you find me?!” He uttered as his face darkened in anger.
“It's always fun playing games mister,” Celine replied and shrug her shoulders.
“Your…Your that kid?!” Shin responded in disbelief and started to attack her but failed because of the sudden pain from his lower abdomen where the drunk man kick him a while ago.
“Of course, you’re easy to trick. And I’m stronger than you,” she replied.
“Shut up!”
“I’m warning you, if you wanted to live longer, don’t do anything that I find distasteful,” Celine said as her emerald eyes darkened in anger.
Her slender finger pointed at him as it started to glow. Soon he felt his pain fading away.
“Why… Why are you healing me?!” Shin exclaimed as he can feel the insult deep inside him.
“It’s because I pity you,” she replied.
“What are you trying to accomplish?!”
“Nothing,” Celine answered as she shrugs her shoulders.
“You b***h!” he yelled in anger as he tried to attack her but she dodge it and instead, he was thrown on his back slamming to the ground.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself, you should be thankful that I help you,” Celine replied with a blank expression.
“Shut that foul mouth of yours!” Shin yelled at the lady.
“And shut yourself up and never messed with me,” she replied.
Shin stared at the lady with confusion in his eyes. He stands up from the ground and leans his back on the cold wall.
“Stop playing around and just kill me,” he uttered.
He was bewildered when Celine started to walk towards him and poke his forehead.
He felt at ease and lightheaded.
“Did you healed me again?!” He asks in disbelief.
“You are a poor thing,” she uttered as their eyes met.
“Why are you doing this?” he asks doubting.
“Because I pity you,” Celine answered, “I healed you, so you could use your bird form again,” she continued.
Upon hearing her words, his eyes trembled with relief and his heart skip a beat.
‘No, I shouldn’t feel thankful,’ Shin reprimanded himself.
“Aren’t you loyal to your master?” Shin asks.
“I am loyal to him, that’s why I’m showing this to you. I want you to know that, if I could heal you completely I could also kill you the moment you lay your hands on him,” she answered.
She met his gaze again as she distances herself from him.
“You could just heal the injury I received from that filthy drunkard a while ago, there’s no need to cure my burned marks,” Shin uttered not breaking his stare from her.
“You wanted to fly…right?” she answered.
“How…How did you know?” Shin questioned with a surprised expression.
“Just a hunch.”
There was a moment of silence between them before he compose himself.
“…What are you?” he asks, “No, who are you?! Why are you doing this?” Shin uttered.
“Have you forgotten?” she answered.
“…Maybe,” Shin responded and averted his gaze away from her.
Celine breathes as she tucks the strand of her hair behind her ear.
“I am still your enemy,” she replied as she started to walk away.
“You can’t win my trust by just doing this!” Shin announced to the lady who stops from walking upon hearing his words.
Celine glance at him with an unreadable expression.
“I won’t. However, know your place when dealing with me, if you stand on our plan, I’ll kill you,” She warned and continued to walk away.
Shin’s hand landed on his left chest, feeling his heartbeat racing as he remained staring at her.
Mathew who came back with Monica became worried when Celine was no longer in the boutique.
“I apologize, your majesty,” Allen uttered as he bowed his head.
“No, no, there must be a reason why she left,” Mathew answered.
“Forgive me, your majesty, this is all my fault,” Lorenzo commented nervously.
“No, you shouldn’t apologize, Lady Celine is not a child anymore, it's no one’s fault,” Monica said as she eyed Mathew who was impatiently walking back and forth.
“Let us all calm down and wait for her here, maybe she will come back any moment from now,” Casis uttered.
“Yes, Casis is right,” Nathan agreed while nodding his head.
“Your majesty! She’s here!” Lorenzo announced.
They all looked at Celine who opened the door and glanced at them all.
“Oh, your back,” she uttered.
“Celine,” Mathew called as he walk towards her and holds her hand, “Where have you been? We’ve been worried,” he continued.
Celine remained composed as she met his gaze.
“I apologize master, but I settled something a while ago,” she whispered at him.
Mathew gaze at her.
“Let’s head back now, please delivered the gown in the imperial palace and charge it under my name,” he announced as he glanced at Lorenzo.
“Yes your majesty,” Lorenzo replied and bowed his head.
They exited the boutique and went back to where the coachman parks the carriage.
“You can go first, Celine,” Monica uttered.
“…okay,” she replied and was about to go inside the carriage when Mathew didn’t let go of her hand.
“Celine will share a ride with me, you can go inside now, Lady Monica,” Mathew uttered.
“But your majesty, wouldn’t it be hard for you?” Monica replied.
“It's fine, I can manage,” Mathew responded and pulled Celine closer to him.
Monica stared at him and then glanced at Celine before she went inside the carriage.
Mathew still holding her hand and guided her to where he left his horse.
He lift Celine so she could ride the horse and then ride it after assisting her.
“Lean your back on my chest so you could be comfortable,” he uttered as he holds the reign of his horse.
Celine did not respond but did what he said to her.
“What happened Celine?” he asks her.
“…I met our enemy a while ago,” she replied.
Celine could feel his long and deep breath before he speak.
“You shouldn’t just fight the enemy on your own, what if something happens to you?”
“I’m sorry master,” she answered.
“And then what happened?”
“We fought but I healed him.”
“…Him?”
“Yes.”
“Did you touch that guy?” Mathew asks.
Celine glance at him because of his odd question.
“Yes, I did,” she replied.
Mathew’s expression change as he averted his gaze from her and just focus on the road.
“And then what happened next?” Mathew asks.
“Are you upset because I healed him?” Celine responded.
“…Maybe,” he answered shortly, “What if he killed you after you healed him?” he continued.
She lean her head on his chest so she could hear his heartbeat.
“No one could kill me but you, master,” Celine replied.
“Please don’t do that again Celine,” he whispered at her.
“I only did it to warn him,” she uttered.
“Still, I don’t want you to do that anymore,” Mathew responded.
“Are you still upset?” she asks.
“I am but, if it is you, it won’t take long,” he answered.
A moment of silence arises between them like an invisible wall.
“Do you know why I healed him?” She uttered unexpectedly.
“Why?” Mathew replied.
“It’s because he was burned in front of me by his own master. I saw it through his eyes, his desperation to survive despite barely living,” she muttered.
“I understand,” Mathew replied.
“Looking at him, I’m glad that you found me,” she said as she looked at Mathew.
Their eyes met as she saw his hazel eyes stared at her tenderly.
“I’m glad that it's you and not just anyone,” she whispered.
He smiled at her brightly.
“How could you just erase my trouble in just a second?” he answered, “But Celine, you have to promise me,” Mathew continued.
“What is it, master?” she asks.
“Promise me to never touch another man again. It makes me want to erase them from the earth’s surface,” he uttered as his face darkened in irritation.
Celine blinks twice and stared at him with confusion in her eyes.
“I don’t understand, master.”
“Then don’t try to understand, there’s no need for you to do that, just promise me, Celine,” he replied.
“…If that is what you want, then I will, Master,” she answered.
“Don’t swear because that is what I want Celine, you have to swear it because you agree with me,” Mathew commented.
“You seem territorial but I am just like you as well. Yes, I promise to never touch a man but you,” she responded.
Mathew smiled triumphantly.
“I’m counting on your words, Celine.”
