Chapter Twenty-Eight
Long ago, in the early civilization of the empire, there once lived two ladies who criticized the gods for shallow and selfish reasons. The gods ignored their blasphemy until one day, their profanity to the gods reach the heavens. And so, the gods who heard their fraudulent claims decided to curse them, their bodies stick as one and formed into a body of a spider, for the gods believe they deserve to crawl and to be hated inside the household.
Their heads were still intact in that kind of body because the gods wanted them to know how it felt to hear criticisms and selfish judgment without any deep reasoning. And their mouths became one because the gods saw and heard them use their mouths for only one goal, and that is tarnishing the gods’ holy names.
However, the heavens did this for a certain goal.
The gods did this to serve as a warning for humanity, that anyone, even the emperor or the highest priest who will use their courage to bring the gods down will suffer the same fate and will be imprisoned in the depth of darkness.
Allen’s heart was pounding loudly in his chest as the monster crawled closer to him.
‘What is a demon doing here? The gods were defeated but it doesn’t mean the beings imprisoned in the darkness are free to go,’ Allen thought as he stared at it.
Before the demon’s web could touch Allen again, it meltdown the moment it touched a barrier protecting him from it.
“Good thing I arrived in time,” Casis uttered holding the glowing shield on his left hand while a sword to the other.
He immediately attacked the monster, successfully shoving the demon away from Allen.
“Foolish humans!” the demon screamed angrily while giving death glares to Casis.
The demon was suddenly pierced by a spear on its back making it yelp in pain as Nathan hurriedly assisted Mathew to stand.
“Are you okay your majesty?” he asks.
“…I’m fine, good job Nathan,” Mathew answered and roughly wipe the blood on his mouth with his bare hand.
His hazel eyes stared at the demon for a while before he straightened his back and tightened the hold of his sword.
Mathew’s sword started to flame as he run forward and successfully cut some of its legs making the demon fall.
Meanwhile, Nathan took it as a chance to get his spear stuck on its body.
They immediately maintained a distance from it when they saw that its legs who were amputated were healed and grow again.
The demon laughs upon seeing their surprised expression.
“I told you, all of you here will be the one to die,” the enemy uttered.
Allen who’s still stuck on its web started to move his body but failed to free himself from it.
“Ugh, I can’t get myself out from this s**t,” he mumbled, “Casis!” Allen yelled.
Casis who was busy dodging the demon’s attack, distance himself from it and shielded himself from the web spitting from its mouth.
“I’m busy Allen!” Casis yelled back.
“Damn,” Allen whispered trying his best to get himself out while the rest continued to attack the demon.
The fight remained the same, no matter which part they cut from its body, it will always heal and grow again like it’s never been cut.
Nathan and Casis became exhausted and were panting as they breathe while Mathew, despite being tired continued to fight and dodge its attack.
“Imbecile! No matter what you do, even if you cut our heads, we are endless!” the demon declared as it attack Mathew again while there were pair of hands suddenly grow near its two heads.
The demon caught Mathew’s legs and slam him hard on the wall.
Mathew spit-ups blood again because of the impact, he was about to be unconscious but he manage to stay awake.
He was lifted from the floor again.
Nathan with a worried expression successfully s***h the demon's hand holding Mathew’s legs but failed to dodge its attack, throwing him down and pounding his back on the cold floor making him whimper in pain.
“Your majesty! Nathan!” Casis called disturbed by the situation.
“Damn!” Allen shouted in anger as he forced his body to move while not breaking his gaze to Mathew and Nathan who were forcing themselves to stand on their feet again.
‘If I can’t help them now, they might die!’ Allen’s inner self screamed.
Meanwhile, Celine who’s battling in the air was having a lot of bruises and scratches all over her body and was trying her best to dodge the enemy’s attack.
When she found an opening, she strike back making the monster fall to the ground.
“I don’t have time for this, they need me inside,” Celine uttered to herself.
‘I should end this now,’ her mind commented.
All of a sudden she felt the demon’s kick making her out of breath and pushing her down until her body beats the ground.
‘It’s faster than I thought,’ Celine’s mind commented as she eyed the monster back.
“Who let you escape Anwar?” she asks as she flew back in the air facing him.
“Ah, I have heard about Omega’s weapon. But it seems like you were not strong as I heard,” the demon replied.
“And do you think you can provoke me?” Celine responded and smirk at him.
“Of course I know that I couldn’t. You're like us after all, you don’t have any emotions as well,” it said.
“Exactly, so stop messing around and answer the damn question,” she uttered.
“…It doesn’t matter, you’ll going to die anyway!” Anwar responded and attack her again.
Her hand started to glow as she started to strike back some magic at the demon but it successfully dodges her attack.
Some of her attempts were successful and some were not.
However, the demon Anwar found an opening and immediately attack her making her almost fall again but manages to fly back into the air.
“Why are you defending the humans?! Are you a fool to not see that they only took you for granted?! They want you on their side because you’re the only one who could save them!” Anwar yelled at her and started to attack again.
She dodges some of it however some of its attacks made more bruises on her face and body.
It’s fortunate for her that the only one who could make her bleed and kill her is her own master. However, she could still gain some bruises and scratches from her enemy. After all, they were both outcasts by the gods, which means they could hurt each other.
“Are you stupid Anwar? Your story doesn’t concern me at all. Your life is not mine, maybe we're both forsaken, but we can never be the same. You said a while ago that we both have no emotions at all, but hearing your words, it seems like I am the sole one, it's pointless to tell me your pain and hatred,” Celine uttered and strike back.
The demon screamed in pain when it felt the sting from her magic.
“And you do realize, right? We’ve been fighting for a long while now, I don’t want to waste time anymore,” she said coldly and with emotionless eyes.
“Curse you!” the demon scream.
“I already am,” she replied.
Her emerald eyes started to glow as her hands glowed as well. They were surrounded by the light and Anwar yelp in pain when he started to burn and turned into ashes.
Celine stared at the ashes who were slowly drifted by the wind.
“You’re heartless,” a voice commented.
She glance at the man with medium-length black hair that was tied messily.
Her emerald eyes met his mocking eyes.
“And what are you going to do? Stand in my way? Didn’t I warn you already?” Celine replied.
“We both know that I need to be in your way right? I will play but I won’t stop you either,” He responded.
Celine’s hand started to glow again.
“Stop messing with me.”
“Ah, it seems like no matter what your body received, your face wouldn’t reflect any interesting expression at all,” he replied as he took his sword out, “By the way, I didn’t formally tell you my name when we first met at the capital,” he added and started to attack her.
“My name is Shin,” he uttered and smirk at her.
