"Am getting married to a what?" she yelled.
"The Black Family and the kingdom are vampires, and they are the most trusted family and kingdom there is," the King said.
"They are going to kill me! You are sending me to my death!"
"My dear, do you think we would send you off just so they can drink your blood?" her mother asked.
"At this point in my life, I don't know what you would do." She glared at her mother.
The King jumped up out of his seat, and put his finger in her face, "You understand this, Annabeth, the Black family may not be humane but they are more humane than other humans in this world. When we needed help, the other kingdoms would just send food. Yes, that helped out a lot, but the Black family just did not send food, they helped rebuild what we lost. And the King and Queen came and helped. They did not just stay in their kingdom and do nothing!" the King was mad, and he was yelling at her.
She can remember when others came and helped rebuild and she remembers when people came and gave them food. But she did not know all that, she did not know that they had come and helped, that they had made a trip just to come and help.
"What they told us, everything about them is not true. Yes, they drink blood, but they eat food too, and they can walk out in the sun. The King and Queen may be over 900 years old, but they have a good heart, and their son is going to be a good husband to you." her father said as he sat back down.
"When they came and helped us, we did talk to them, and they have ideas to help their kingdom and when you marry into their family, they will help build this kingdom up, to where it once was."
"That is when the King and Queen told us they had a son that would be ready to be married some years later. And to help them, and to help us, we gave your hand away to their son, " his mother said.
"You have known for 3 years that I was going to be getting married and you now just tell me this?"
She was hurting, her mother and father keeping things about her life from her. Could they do that to her?
"Jack all most-" her mother started but stopped, looking at Anna. She knew she had messed up.
"Jack? Jack knew about this, and no one told me?!"
She looked from her mother to her father, waiting for one of them to tell her no, but when they did not say anything, she knew, she had her answer.
She got up from her seat and walked over to the door. Looking back at them, she nodded her head, "I'll go and get married to their son, just to get away from you!" Then, she walked out the door, walking into Jack.
Looking up at her big brother, she was trying not to cry, she understood why they did not tell her, but for her brother, the one that she loved more than anyone in this world, not to tell her she was getting sent off to marry a vampire. It was pain she had never known in her life.
Pushing past him to walk to her room, with her head upright looking in front of her.
"Little sis, please wait, I want to talk to you," he called out.
She looks back at him, "Now you want to talk, now you want to say something about this, 3 years later!"
She turned back and walked off without missing a step, " I have to pack." she called out to him and walked right into her room and slammed her door.
She came walking out of her room hours later after packing all she wanted to bring. Not a lot. Most of the things she brings with her are her clothing. He loved her dresses. She packed her books, she packed the book she was writing. She did not know why she was writing a book when she never got to do anything she wanted to do after that. She is on her way to starting her new life and getting married on her birthday.
Taking one more good look in her room, she nodded to herself and walked out to go eat dinner before it was time to leave. When she got to the dinner table she did not say anything to anyone in the room, she did not want to talk to the people that she thought loved her.
"We leave after dinner." The King told her.
All she did was look up at him and nod and look back down at her food. She knows she needs to eat because it will be tomorrow before she can get anything to eat.
The helpers were putting her things in the carriage when all of them walked outside. Looking around one more time as her family loaded up in the other carriage. She wanted to cry, she did not want to leave, this was her home and they were her family. She is going to miss this place.
"Anna, get in. It's time to go." Jack called out to her.
Turning to look at him, she nods and starts to them. Turning around one more time to say a silent goodbye to her home, she gets in and takes her seat next to Jack.
One little tear escaped her eyes when they started off.
Seeing the rose garden one more time as they passed by, it went out the gates to start her new life.
