JOSH'S POV.
There was a gentle smile on my face as I gazed down at the love shaped necklace in my hands. My excitement at seeing Isabel again radiated through the pack link, and it made everyone happy and cheerful to know that their Alpha was feeling so happy.
It has been eight years. Eight good years since I last saw Isabel. It feels like a dream that I would be fortunate enough to see her again. Even after all these years away from her, my feelings for her still hasn't changed. I wonder how she must have grown up to look like, though I don't doubt she'll be as beautiful as before if not more.
"Are you ready?" Zach my beta asked as he walked out of the pack house with his duffle bag hanging on his shoulder. I needed an escort to go with me to the Firehall pack, and it's only right that my beta should be my escort.
"Yeah," i answered and pulled myself off the car I had been leaning on still staring down at the necklace in my hands with a smile. "I just hope Isabel is going to like it."
"It isn't going to run away you know," Zach teased we with a smile as he held unto the lid of the boot to put his duffle bag in.
"I'm just excited," I admitted and closed the small velvet box putting it in my pocket. "My heart won't stop pounding," I place a hand to my chest for emphasis.
Zach rolled his eyes, "I won't be surprised if you two turn out to be friends for real. She's all you talk about throughout the years, and I'm getting ready to welcome our Luna."
I chuckled hoping things would really turn out like he said. Over the years, I have only prayed for one thing, and that is for the moon goddess to make Isabel my mate. It is the same reason why I made her that promise eight years ago. If she turns out to be my mate, I am going to bring her here to my pack.
Isabel is actually the only reason I am visiting the Firehall pack. I'm dying to see her again. My very first love.
Alison came out of the pack house in that moment. She is my third in command. A smallish girl with an artificial pink hair and green eyes. She was on a grey tank top and demi shorts. She's also my best friend as well as Zach. The three of us grew up together and were trained under Zach's father; the previous beta. We were pretty close.
"Were you guys going to leave without saying goodbye?" She pouted in mock hurt.
"Of course not," I grinned moving towards her to give her a side hug. "Why won't I say goodbye to my favorite girl?"
She made a puking sound and pushed me away from her. "We all know your favorite girl is Isabel."
"True," I didn't bother denying it. I doubt I can ever love anyone in the same way I love Isabel. She comes first in everything. No one can ever take her place in my heart. I only hope she turns out to be my mate.
Alison rolled her eyes. "I'm seriously dying to meet this girl. I can't believe she got the all powerful Alpha Josh acting like an excited puppy."
"Not to speak of the fact that he wouldn't give our ears a break because he kept talking about her. We endured eight years of that," Zach added.
"Don't worry Zach, when you meet her, you will understand," I said with full confidence and pride.
Zach shrugged dismissing the topic. "Anyway, we have to leave before it gets too late. I don't want to drive in the dark."
"Why don't you guys just go in your wolf forms? Wouldn't that be faster?" Alison asked with a genuinely confused frown.
"No, I want to drive!" He answered, "and besides, how are we going to hold our luggages if we go in our wolf form?"
She rolled her eyes again, "with your canine of course. Unless you want me to strap it to your back like a horse."
Zach glared at her, and I quickly pushed him towards the driver side of the car before an argument would break out. "That's enough you two. We have to go Zach." Zach reluctantly pulled open the car and climbed in. I turned towards Alison, "take care of the pack in my absence Alison."
"For how long?" She asked with raised brows, and I knew she was preparing to make a bargain.
I rolled my eyes, "two weeks." She opened her mouth to complain, but I quickly added, "I'll buy you your favorite hotdog on my way back."
She grinned and nodded in satisfaction.
"Let's go already Aden," Zach complained still annoyed at Alison. They never get along.
"Bye Alison," I rushed out and quickly got into the passenger side of the car. Alison waved frantically as we drove away.
Zach sighed when we had gone a distance away from the pack house. "Knowing Alison, she's going to take advantage of our absence and throw a party for two weeks."
I chuckled at the thought. That is so like her. She's a sucker for parties. I just hope she won't waste too much money and lessen the pack's budget for the a year.
I was a bit afriad. Alison can be crazy.
****
We arrived at the Firehall pack some hours later. It was already getting dark, and Zach drove carefully through the town heading for the pack house. I was the one who pointed out the directions to him because this is his first time being in the Firehall pack.
I've spent a quarter of my life here, and it was one of the best years of my life. I met the love of my life here, and there's no way I would ever forget the directions that leads to her.
We got to the pack house, and I found that many of the pack memebers were already gathered outside to welcome us. It was not hard to recognize Aden among them. His short dark hair and chocolate brown eyes were not difficult to miss. He was wearing a plain white shirt and demi jeans pants.
I would have guessed it was him even from afar. The only thing different about him was how big and muscular he had become, but I doubt he's as muscular as me though.
The car parked in front of the pack house and I climbed down grinning at Aden. He was standing in front of the others, tall and strong, and it reminded me that he was now an Alpha just like me and commands respect. But before anything else, he's my best friend.
"Is that who I think it is?" I teased as I approached him.
Aden smiled back pleasantly. "Josh, how long has it been?"
"Too long." We shook hands and gave each other a brotherly hug. We pulled apart and I put on a stern look, "it's Alpha Josh to you now," I joked.
Aden laughed in delight. "It seems just like yesterday when we were running around playing like little pups. I can't belive we are both tye Alphas of our packs now."
His words brought back sad memories. I remembered that his parent and Isabel's were killed in a pack attack eight years ago. When my parent heard about it, it was already too late to help.
"I'm sorry about eight years ago man," I said sympathetically.
He shook his head, "it's nothing man. It's a long time now."
"Yeah, and this is my beta Zach." I introduced Zach who was standing silently behind me.
"Nice to meet you Alpha Aden." He bowed respectfully.
Aden smiled, "same here."
I looked around a bit searching for a particular face, but I couldn't find the face of the person I was looking for, but before I could ask, Aden clasps his hand on my shoulder.
"You should come in. We have prepared a feast in your honour."
Still confused, I allowed Aden to pull me into the pack house. I decided to ignore the fact that I haven't seen Isabel yet. Maybe she's busy.
An enchanting scent overwhelmed me the moment I walked into the pack house. It was sweet and calming, I could even feel my wolf stirring up at the sweet scent.
"Wow, something smells so good," I voiced out my thoughts to Aden.
Aden frowned, "I can't perceive anything."
I stared at him confused, "seriously? It smells really good and it's very strong." I took in a deep breath and smiled. The smell is so nice and mouthwatering. It calmed my senses. "I like it."
Aden shook his head at me while smiling gently. "I'll take it that you just really miss this place. Anyway, one of my pack members will show you and your beta to your room. You can take a bath before coming down for dinner."
I nodded slowly. I was tempted to ask him about Isabel, but I held back. Maybe I will see her at dinner.
Damn I can't wait!
