Chapter 10

1142 Words
***Nina*** The moon hung high in the inky night sky, casting a silvery glow over the forest that surrounded the Silver Claw pack’s territory. I stood in the center of a clearing, flanked by my brothers Isaac and Nevins, the air thick with anticipation. Mateo was in the background, pacing slightly, his well-defined jaw clenched in concentration. Sam, his loyal beta and steadfast friend, stood close by, his dark curly hair illuminated by the ethereal light shimmering in the air. "Are you ready for this?" Isaac asked, his dark brown hair brushing lightly against his forehead as he bent closer to catch my gaze. His hazel eyes held an intensity that matched my own resolve. I nodded, taking a deep breath to steady the anxiety bubbling within me. "Yes. We have to do this for Mateo's. He deserves a chance to wake up." Nevins stood to my left, his expression serious, but his eyes glimmered with belief in our abilities. "We’ve practiced this spell together countless times with Frances guidance. We'll harness our magic, and with everyone’s combined strength, we can break the sleeping spell." "Mateo, you’ll need to stay back in case anything goes wrong," I instructed, my voice steady although my heart raced. "If we push too hard, we might unintentionally harm him." Mateo, dressed in his alpha's attire, I hadn’t even asked what had happened when we left. His eyes met my gaze with his deep blue, the weight of our bond churning just below the surface. "I trust you, Nina. Make sure you're ready too." He stepped closer, the connection we shared pulsating with warmth. My brother didn’t usually allowed me to participate in any spell casting, mostly because I wasn’t eighteenth yet, but I’m eighteenth now. And the first spell I can join in to perform was a spell that would wake up my mates grandfather. “I’m ready,” I asserted, casting a glance at the enchanted circle we had drawn around us with salt and herbs, the symbol of our family and the Silver Claw pack seamlessly intertwined. As night fell deeper, a hush enveloped the clearing. The moonlight became our sole witness as we centered ourselves within the circle, drawing on the energy of the earth beneath our feet. Mateo ordered his men, members of his pack to carry a bed out of the pack house. Atop the bed lay a spitting image of Mateo—only older with a few grey hairs mixed with the jet black. He lay in the centre as Issac using his fire gift to light the candle and Nevins preparing the drawing into the ground. Let’s begin,” I instructed, summoning the incantation that would awaken Leo from his enchanted slumber. I began to chant, my voice steady and melodic, tapping into the ancient power of the words passed down through generations. “Awake from thee slumber, O spirit of the night, Let the ties of our blood rejoin with light. By the strength of the coven, united we stand, We call upon magic, to lend us your hand.” As Isaac and Nevins echoed my words, their voices intertwining with mine, I felt the air shift. The energy crackled around us, like the electric charge before a storm, prickling the hairs on my arms. “Awaken, awaken, oh keeper of dreams, Break free from the binding of dark, silent schemes.” Images of my visions surged through my mind—the moments I had caught glimpses of Nora, my long-lost twin sister, trapped in a dungeon, and Crowley’s malevolent smile, overshadowing everything. My pulse quickened as I realized that the mission tonight was more than just the waking—it was an urgent wave of hope that could ripple outwards. Mateo held my hand, grounding me in the moment as I continued to channel our collective energy toward the male that slept. I felt the heat emanating from the salt circle, our magic vibrating in unison. “Is this enough?” Nevins whispered lightly, color rising to his normally calm cheeks. I flicked my gaze toward him, feeling the energy surrounding us shift. “It must be,” I replied, pushing my voice louder, trying to stir even the depths of Leo’s soul to rise from the dark depths. “Awaken, awaken, with powers combined, Let the spirit arise, no longer confined!” As my words hung in the air, the ground beneath us trembled. Our combined powers surged with greater intensity, pulsating with raw energy. “Nina!” Mateo sound concerned, his voice carrying authority despite the chaos swirling around us. I gave him a quick glance to reassure him and continued to keep my focus. With every syllable I spoke, a vision formed—a shimmering, misty image of Leo, his jet-black hair and striking blue eyes flickering in and out of focus. He was trapped within shadows, chained and quiet. He was chained for a wrong he had done. I didn’t linger on the thought not when my mates wanted his grandfather awake. “More, we need more!” I shouted, desperate to break the hold that kept him ensnared. Sudden silence enveloped us as the incantation took hold, weaving through the very fabric of time. And then, the night erupted with blinding light. I shielded my eyes, heart racing, as a luminescent figure emerged within the circle. His form shimmered brightly, the essence of an alpha wolf blooming before us, the chains that had held him dissolving in the overwhelming light of our spell. As the brilliance faded, I could see his tan skin, his regal presence, and his piercing blue eyes staring back at me with a mixture of confusion and awareness. The twin eyes of my mate. “Grandfather,” Mateo murmured, a long forgotten feeling sounded in his voice. "What?!" He exclaimed and his eyes met mine. “Who—who are you?” He questioned, his voice shaky yet firm, the words dragging from him as if they bore the weight of many years. My brothers and I stepped forward, giving him a friendly smile. brimming with hope and trepidation. “I’m Issac Caster, these are my brother Nevins and our sister Nina.” “Caster?” His eyes flickered with recognition. He looked me up and down as if he knew me. “Mateo...” He turned to my mate and confusion flickered in his gaze. His gaze turned back towards me and a happy reunion was short lived. My mates grandfather had his hands shifting into claws and a look to kill. "Nina!" Isaac shouted, taking a step to shield me, his hazel eyes wide with disbelief. All within a blink of an eye, My mate shifted and was in front of his grandfather. An Alpha king with a former Alpha— Alphas of the same blood.
