Chapter Three RONAN I knew I had to return to town as soon as I saw the truck approach the gates. Elder Frey was too old, and Kit was far too young, to face down any potential threat on their own. I needed to be there to protect them, and not just by keeping watch within the tree line. From my vantage position in the forest, I was perfectly positioned to watch everyone who came and went, and I had been keeping a close eye on all movement in and out of my pack’s village.
