Chapter 3:EARLY SURPRISE

1217 Words
C O L I N I could hear high sharp sounds making me growl in annoyance and I opened my eyes, blinking, and then I saw Sam crying while calling my name. "f**k, make it stop." I muttered and I groaned when she punched me, right straight to my ribs. "I thought you will die!" She shouted and snot went out from her nose and she sniffed it back. "You didn't heal when uncle brought you here." She said making me touch my neck unconsciously. It was perfectly fine and perfectly healed as if it was good as new. "I didn't heal?" I asked, confused. "You didn't, only after half an hour did your blood stopped flowing like crazy from your neck." She said with a clogged nose as I sat at the edge of my bed. "We were freaking out." "Was it the first time you shapeshifted?" I turned my head when dad entered my room. I couldn't help but feel like s**t after I remembered how he looked at me at that time. I didn’t want dad to look at me that way ever again. "Second." I said. My first time was yesterday night on my birthday. "Your body was only in shock at that time, that's why you didn't heal immediately, I think." He said and it was a miracle that he didn't lecture me about the fight. He and mom always do. "So, about that fight." Or nope, no miracles. I straightened and Sam sat beside me, looking at dad. "Alpha Adolf was so angry about it that he grounded his son. You're lucky he didn't say anything about you." I bowed and the floor seems interesting at that time. Honestly, I felt sorry. . . but not sorry at all to Kurt. f**k, he deserved it. He almost f****d my neck for real. "Are you fighting over a girl?" I raised my head and looked at dad and then I frowned. "What? No!" I said in a disgusting voice and dad narrowed his eyes. "I don't like someone or anyone yet." I said and I felt Sam shift beside me. Dad just nodded and left me and Sam alone in my room. I stood when Sam grabbed my arm making me look at her. "Colin, I—" "I'm going to take a bath first." I cut her because I had a feeling that I didn't want to hear what she was about to say but I wasn't lying about me taking a bath, my body felt sticky and itchy. Sam let go of me as she nodded and I smiled at her, patting her head before I went inside the bathroom. ** Kurt and I didn't have another fight after that huge fight. We just glared and snubbed each other. My friends were amazed at what I did but for me, it wasn't something to be amazed. It felt childish. Years later. It was already my eighteenth birthday the next morning and I didn't know what to feel if ever I find my mate. They say you couldn't control the pull of your mate, even dad said so but I didn't believe it. In fact, I didn't want one. I just wanted to be the warrior I am now and I couldn't wait to be an official warrior on my coming of age, which would be tomorrow. Screw my mate. ** It was so early in the morning when mom barged into my room and screamed "happy birthday!" I just raised the blanket up to my head, but it didn't help. I could still clearly hear her. "Colin, wake up." Mom coaxed me and I growled and wrapped the blanket around me. I could smell something— no, someone. "What's it? Hmm . . . am still sleepy." I mumbled and I heard mom chuckled. "Your friends are here!" She said making me snapped my eyes open and sat up instantly. "What in an ungodly hour are they doing here!?" I scratched my head and mom sat beside me, grinning. I just frowned at her. "Happy birthday and I wish you'll have a very nice and understanding mate, honey." She said and placed her hand on top of mine, squeezing it in a motherly way. "And gorgeous." I added making her chuckle. "But I don't think I need one." Mom shook her head. "Every one of us needs our mates. You can't live without them and that feeling of finding your mate is. . . ecstatic. I can't really describe it in words." "But I don't even know how or where to start finding her." I said and she chuckled. "It's either she'll find you, or you'll find her. You just have to be patient." "How will I know if it's her then?" What if I pick the wrong one? "You can feel it. The pull, your heartbeat, and the smell which will be the most intoxicating smell that you've ever smelt before, and you're the only one who can feel or smell it from her. It's just . . . you can't explain it." She tried to explain, with hand gestures. I just nodded, even though I didn't really understand. "Thanks, mom." Mom smiled and patted my shoulder. "Now, get your ass up because your friends are waiting." Mom stood up and went out of my room. I took a quick shower first before I went outside to see my friends. Travis, Jake, David, and Adolf, not Alpha Adolf, were there. The front door opened and Sam came in. She was wearing a floral dress and I smelled something from her. Something new. Something angelic. Our eyes met and I didn't know but maybe it was the one that mom told me? Is Sam my mate? I couldn't blame it because we have been friends ever since. Maybe we developed a bond or something, and it wasn't that hard to like her. She's sweet and innocent, and sometimes she could be very brutal. Yeah, very brutal. Her scent was so strong that I couldn't smell anything but her scent that I just wanted to cover my nose because it was just so strong. "Damn, Sam! Did you shower your perfume? It's so strong!" David said and they all nodded making me frown. They can smell her? "I kinda bought this new one and I ended up spraying too much, I think." Sam said chuckling while scratching her nape and looked back at me. "Happy birthday, Colin." She greeted and I smiled at her. "Thanks." I said and maybe some part of me felt relieved when I knew she wasn't my mate. She was a childhood friend and I couldn't imagine her as my mate. "That's not fair, Sam!" Travis whined. "We're supposed to greet him altogether!" "Yeah, but never mind." Adolf said. "Happy birthday, bro." "Happy birthday, man." Travis, David, and Jake said. "Thanks. What are you doing here so early?" I walked to them, frowning. "To greet you and. . ." I glanced at the kitchen when mom and dad came outside, my mom held a chocolate cake which had a candlestick that was lit. They started singing a happy birthday song. I creased my forehead but my lips were curved into a smile. The efforts.
