I slept for what felt like a lifetime. I had no idea what time of the day it was, and the blackout curtains in the room didn’t help me at all. I slowly adjusted myself up on my side and sat up on the side of the bed and made my way towards the curtains. I couldn’t see anything, but the room smelled so good. Once I got up and moved towards the curtains I slid them open and glanced out at the sun setting over the horizon. The city lights were flickering and the hustling of city life below was enough to catch my gaze for a moment. A bathroom I hadn’t even noticed when I got into this room was directly next to the window. I decided to grab a quick shower.
The steam fogged up the entire room, as I wiped off the mirror I noticed my forehead still looked pretty rough. The pain shot through my head as I touched it. I combed through my hair and tossled it as I usually do. I didn’t have any clothes with me, so I wrapped a towel around myself and exited the bathroom.
My heart almost plummeted from my body. Theo was sitting in the chairs across the room.
“OH MY !” I screeched as I gripped my towel a little harder.
“I hope I didn’t startle you Samara.” he said with such a nonchalant tone.
How long had he been sitting there?? Why did he not seem to mind that I was in my towel?
I could feel myself blushing.
“I just uhm needed a quick shower, I was sleeping so well. I”m unsure how long I slept.”
“I was just worried about you, and wanted to make sure you were okay.” He replied. His expression looked devilish. He stood up and started to approach me.
I felt paralyzed in his gaze.
He brushed the hair from my face away and glanced at my forehead.
“Does it hurt? It looks like it hurts.”
“It hurts a little, but it’ll heal. It could’ve been way worse. Thank you again.” I replied while returning his gaze.
He carassed my face with his hand, placing it behind my ear and neck pulling my face up towards his and putting his mouth centimeters from mine.
“I want you now”
He pulled me into him fiercely, our lips locking as one. Scooping me up off of the ground slightly with his other arm. His smell overtook me. His mouth trapping mine, and encouraging more.
I pulled back slightly and wanted to say the words ‘stop, this is crazy!’, but before I could mutter the words his mouth found my neck and his tongue warm and wet slid across my collar bone sending chills down my spine. His hands started sliding into my towel.
I finally caught my breath and slightly pulled back
“Wait, please stop! I don’t even know you!” I gasped.
Theo looked distraught. He gently slid me down onto my feet.
“I’m sorry, I just don’t know who you are. This is a lot right now, and I think I was just caught up in the moment.” I said apologetically.
“Do you not feel the same way that I do?” Theo asked.
“I’m sorry, I just said I don’t know you? Did I not make that clear?”
“Do you not know that you are my mate?!” Theo roared.
“What the f**k is that supposed to mean?”
“We need to have a discussion, but I think it would be best if you were dressed for it. Would you mind putting some clothes on?” Theo asked, but seemed to be more of a statement.
“Sure..” I said.
“Here, these were brought up for you.” Theo said as he placed a bag on the bed.
He turned toward the elevator.
“Meet me up in the foyer when you’re dressed please.” he said as the elevator doors slid shut.
What just happened?! I was so sweaty, and completely weak at my knees for a man I just met. I don’t even know him and I was willing to give myself to him right then and there. And why was he referring to me as his mate? That was so weird!
The bag of clothes were all my size, which was also very coincidental. The clothes were pretty nice though. I chose a nice gray solid crop tee and a pair of jeans. I put my converse on and slid a black jacket on as well. I checked myself in the mirror and adjusted my necklace before heading toward the elevator.
The elevator ride up to the penthouse seemed to last an eternity. What would I even say to the man whom I just embarassed? My nerves started to get the best of me. I could feel my cheeks reddening.
The doors opened to the foyer where Theo stood there waiting. Was he waiting there for me the whole time? My heart started pounding.
“Let’s chat in my study.” He motioned toward the big wooden doors to the left of the big stairs.
His study was beautiful. It looked like a study in one of those old timey colleges. It smelled of old books and leather. It made me want to relax, curl up to read a good book, or paint. I loved painting, but I haven’t had a chance to in a long while. While I was daydreaming about painting, Theo closed his study doors, cleared his voice to speak and I snapped back to reality.
“I’m going to get right to the point here. I would like to give you a formal introduction. I am Theo Hunt. I am the Alpha of the Sumeria Pack, and you are my fated one. My mate. The future Luna of the Sumeria Pack.” He said as he stood in front of his desk facing me.
Was this guy nuts? He continued on.
“I can smell you, and I can sense you. I’m aware you are my destined mate. I’m very drawn to you. Do you not feel the same?” He asked.
“Listen, I’m really not sure what you’re talking about. What do you mean mate? Luna? You’re kind of freaking me out!” I gulped.
“Do you not know what you are? What we are?” Theo said very confused.
“All I know right now if that you’re speaking nonsense and freaking me the f**k out!”
“Addison, please come here.” Theo ordered over his desk phone.
The door to the study opened and Addison strolled in as if she were waiting right ouside the whole time. She stood at Theo’s side and I heard him ask her something almost in a whisper.
“Why would she not know that she is a wolf? And not know anything of our kind?”
“I think she may have had her wolf enchanted away by someone or something sir. Possibly something she has had for a very long time. An heirloom by chance?” Addison answered.
“Are you guys talking about me being a WOLF? And being enchanted by magic?? Are you crazy?” I said.
“Please keep an open mind here Samara, we are only trying to help you.” Theo said.
I started to think about Ren. I thought about her telling me to come here for answers to my past. I thought about all the secrecy my adoptive family had about me and my birth family. The necklace that was ‘gifted’ to me once I became of age and was told never to take off. I assumed was because of how expensive it was, or because maybe it had a tracker in it to keep tabs on me. I didn’t really know what to think at this point.
“I was sent here by a very loyal friend who told me to seek out answers to my past. I was adopted and I’ve wanted clarity for a very long time. I’ve always been an outcast. My adoptive family shut me down on anything brought up about my birth family, all of my documents were burned or hidden away from me.” I exhaled and slumped a little in my chair.
“I was given this necklace when I hit puberty by my adoptive father. He told me to never take it off. It was basically welded around my neck to the point I couldn’t take it off. I assumed it was just very expensive and they didn’t want to risk me losing it.”
Theo glanced at the necklace and immediately reached forward towards it.
“Would you be against us taking it off of you?” He asked.
“I guess that’s fine. I’ve never been quite fond of it anyway.” I replied.
He reached behind his desk and grabbed a leatherman tool, opened it up to pliars and gently lifted the chain off my collarbone and I heard the snip of the metal.
What happened next was like a hurricane of emotions. Everything went blurry. I remember hearing someone yelling my name before I hit the floor.
