Elara's Pov
I stared at Kai and Luna, the silence in the room drowning me as I watched the blood slide toward me. I wanted to scream, or I had just felt my instinct screaming at me.
I stood there, my heartbeat was the only thing I could hear. My mind began racing with crazy thoughts as images of this morning filled my head. Tears welled up in my eyes, I wasn't secure. I didn't protect them.
They might have been yelling my name, their tiny voice unable to reach me while I was busy snoring on my bed. Calm, my wolf? it didn't show up. It was there seeing everything as it happened.
“ No,” I whispered. My eyes slid shut for a moment.
No matter what technique I tried to make myself think they are alive, the results were the same. Kai and Luna never woke up.
They were just there lying lifelessly. I stared and couldn't do anything. My ears rang like a siren had just been unleashed. But, it was far worse than that.
I stayed right there, not moving. Not doing anything. I just stared. My knees cramped, my knuckles cracked, I just felt the goddamm fatigue wash down over me.
“ Oh my god,” I heard Damon's voice behind me.
The next second, he rushed in. Raine followed behind him. He fell to his knees touching Kai across his face.
I could just stare as I didn't know what to do anymore, it was as if life had slipped out of my veins. My vision blurred. The fatigue hit me hard, tears rushed down my cheek like it was a prime water fall.
I just didn't understand, I didn't understand how I failed. In just a few days, I had lost so much. My strength, my confidence, and now my pups?
“ No!” I yelled, my voice loud.
My sudden outburst vibrated the whole room. I felt the earth's shift beneath me as the palace's corridors became extremely quiet.
Damon paused, turning to look at me. He could just stare as I also watched from where I had knelt.
“ No!” I yelled again.
The whole room was extremely quiet, my heart beat was very loud. Extremely loud. I felt every thump as tiny vibrations rushed down my veins.
Thump… thump.. thump…
Every beat, every damn beat was like a tiny voice that hammered against my ribs. Tears rolled down my cheek continuously, and uncontrollably.
I raised my head to look at the ceiling. I needed the sky, but the whole ceiling just bored me up. And the four walls of this palace? It became my ennui immediately.
“Lemme run a check up.” Raine said,
That was her profession. Except for being the beta of this pack, she was also a doctor on her own.
I watched as she pressed her hands on the hand looking for a tiny pulse. But with every touch she kept checking every position.
As soon as she checked again, she realised one thing. Their life was gone. She kept trying all her best, but nothing.
I stood to my feet, staggering towards them. Almost immediately, I pushed her away. I placed my head above her chest, listening. My ears strained as I tried to catch a little whiff of her heart beat, but there was none.
Her lips had turned pale and white from exhaustion. There was no movement, nothing. I didn't speak, I just turned my head towards Kai. I crawled closer to him.
As soon as I placed my head on his chest, I waited and waited. Waiting for his heart to beat, but I got nothing. Not a single sound.
My ears rang, I felt a strong wave of drowsiness hit me hard. I almost lost my balance, but I stood to my feet.
As soon as I managed to hold myself up, I felt drawn. Drawn back into the darkness. Almost immediately, I fell backwards. landing on the floor with a thud.
“ Luna!" I heard Raine’s voice.
And no matter how hard I tried to pull myself up, I was being dragged back into the darkness. And finally, I gave up.
My eyes fluttered open, the place was extremely dark. So dark till the extent, it was as if I was pulled into the darkness.
“ Mum!” I heard Kai’s voice as it echoed through space.
“ Mum!” Luna yelled as well,
“ Luna?” I called, “Kai?” I called again.
No matter how hard I had yelled out their names? They never showed up, their voices just kept echoing.
A mist appeared right in front of me, I sniffed the air wanting to catch the scent of what was happening, but it didn't have a scent at all. It was just as if I had no breathing.
I stared at it continuously, my eyes not leaving the thick foggy parts of the mist. I pushed my head forward a bit, trying all my possible best to see what was there.
I wanted to open my mouth, trying to call out for help, but it was all nothing. Not a single sound came out, it was now as if I had no voice at all.
I froze as the foggy mist gathered. Right in front of me, Luna and Kai sat there tied up, both of them were not crying.
I felt the warmth filled my chest immediately, a wide smile tugged across my lips. Warm tears cascaded down my cheeks.
I opened my arms wanting to take them in, I wanted to hug them. At that moment, they ran into my embrace. But, as soon as we made contact.
It happened so fast; a man dressed in all white came out of nowhere. His face was disfigured so I couldn't even recognize him, in the next section he snatched them away from me.
“ Noooo!” I screamed out my lungs.
“ Nooo!” I jerked awake, my hands spread widely hoping to get them back,but it was like a change in dimension.
The whole black stuff was gone, I was now in a room. I raised my head checking around for a moment, but it didn't change.
My heart froze, tears slowly rolled down from my eyes. My hands dropped immediately.
Raine and Damon sprinted into the ward room. They were panting heavily.
“ They're alive,” I said, my voice low.
“ Thank goddess you're okay,” Damon said, wrapping his arms around me.
“ Damon?” I called, turning to look up at him.
“ Yes love?” He answered,
“ They're alive,” I said. “ Luna and Kai? They are alive.”
Tears slowly cascading down my eyes as I said those reassuring words. I smiled, cupping Damon’s face.
He raised his head to look at Raine, his jaw dropped while his hands were busy patting my head.
“ Alpha, I think she has gained a disorder.” Raine said.
