Chapter 15

Elara's Pov My heart froze as soon as I heard what he said, I couldn't believe it. I didn't understand anything either. How can Kade tell him something I did not do, and he will just believe him. “ How can you believe whatever he said to you?” I asked, “ Kade was right with every single thing he said.” Damon said, his voice low. No matter how hard he is as an Alpha, he is always soft and cranky when it comes to emotions. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized what I had done. I stared at him, my heart began aching a lot. Everything had happened so fast, I didn't have time to analyze where I was making mistakes. Where I was playing it wrong. I was just focused on making it right, but I wasn't at all. I was just adding up to the complications. “ Hey, I did nothing wrong.” I said, “ Why did you hand that responsibility over to the council?” He asked, his hands stretched towards the door. I stared at him for a while, speechless. I didn't know what to say at all. It was just as if I was playing a game with no wins at all. I moved closer to him, raising my hand and placing them on his chest. It was the only choice I had, but how could I explain to him? The council was planning. They were planning to take him off the throne. And if I hadn't done that, they won't feel like they are still in power, they will feel threatened. They will never feel the power at all. And that was the problem, the council wanted full control over his pack. And Damon wasn't ready to give that, he had only brought the pack to them just to fit in with others. And if I had told him about what the council is planning against him, he would feel cheated. And we will lose a lot of things if the council were to leave us. “ Please...” I said, “ Don't take this too far.” I added. “ You don't want me to speak, why are you going against me!” He yelled, His body was visibly vibrating. He was damn angry. And I knew there was a big and deeper reason for it. When Damon becomes emotional, he doesn't think straight. His alpha strategy always turns against him. “ I am not going against you,” I said with my voice low. “ I just wanted to make sure we are safe here.” I said, my voice low. “Safe?” He yelled, “ safe from what? You practically put us inside their den!” He yelled “ Damon!” I snapped, “ calm down!” I yelled I was panting like hell, the whole way he was speaking had made me feel like I am not even doing anything to help out at all. He kept quiet, staring at him. I could just watch as his chest rose and fell. He wanted everything to be back to normal, and now he is just yelling at me. At that moment, a word clicked at the back of my head. Kade wasn't invited to Kai’s and Luna’s birthday. Why did he come? It's been four years now, why did he think of showing up now? My mind raced with multiple questions, questions I didn't have answers to. Questions I just didn't understand myself. “ I have my reasons for doing it, okay? I understand your loss, but the council is the only option!” I yelled, He didn't speak, he just kept staring at me. His eyes dull, the cold indifference was present. And I knew it, whatever was happening had a reason. He had never said such words to me before. He walked past me, his shoulder brushed me. He didn't even turn to look back at me,he just left, slamming the door the next second. I lowered my head, staring at the lamp in front of me. Everything was just happening too fast, I could barely wrap my head around it and I was dying. Just a few days ago,Kade arrived in this pack, wanting to take my kids away from me. My pups were kidn*pped, and my wolf appeared, just for everything that happened while I was tortured to be an illusion. It was so unreal, and now. Damon was brainwashed by Kade, and he believed it so easily. Will I even last in these two realms? The door swung open. My head snapped, I quickly swiped the tears building up at that time. And a weird crooked smile appeared across my lips. I turned sharply, looking at the door. I stared at the door, but no one was coming in. It was just as if the door had opened on its own accord. And as if being thrown, a paper slowly falls to the floor. Curious, I stepped closer bending over to pick it up. And as soon as I flipped it over, my mind froze. On it, there was a red liquid. The liquid was used to write a text on the blank page. The metallic smell of blood hit my nostrils. It was so strong, but it was not familiar. Not at all. I sniffed the air again hoping to get a whiff of something, but nothing came up. I paused for a second, I raised the paper, unfolding it. 'Run Kai!’ I stared at the text on the paper. My mind began racing with multiple questions, what does it mean? I took a step out of the door, turning my head to the side, but I didn't see anyone. I didn't see anybody at all. I turned my head to check above me, but there was still nothing. My heart froze, I felt my heart rammed against my ribs. It nearly leapt out my chest, Kai? What does it mean? Damon needs to hear about this, he needs to know about it. I sprang through the hallway. My legs were almost touching the back of my head. As soon as I got to the front of his office, I paused at the sound of his voice. “ I don't think she still loves me,” he said. “ Alpha, don't say that.” A feminine voice resounded from his office. “ She has always been your mate, she loves you.” The voice said. I didn't move, I just listened. The feminine voice was Raine. Why was she saying that to him! What were they talking about? “ I don't know,” Damon said, “ Kade is back now.” He paused, “ I am also her mate. She belongs to me!” He yelled. For a moment, I didn't hear Raine’s voice. But when I was about to step in, she spoke up. “ Why are you sad?” Raine asked, “ I’m not sad,” he said. “ Grandma's gone, now she is not having fate in me!” He yelled. As soon as those words came out, I felt a sharp sting in my chest, he actually thought I had no fate in him. I shook my head, swallowing the bitterness rising in my chest I pushed the door open, my body was trembling. “ Damon, I need help.” I said, my voice low. He turned his back against me, unknown to him, I had seen it all. The facade, the wall he was trying to hold up had cracked. And, I have seen it through. “What happened?” He asked, Almost immediately, I handed the paper over to Raine. I needed him to see it, if at all he knew about it. He was the one who had left the room when it had all happened. It was as soon as he left, that the door had also swung open. I stared at his broad back as his shoulders slouched immediately. He turned sharply, his steps were swift. So fast I didn't understand how he had even come in front of me. “ Kai, where is he?” He asked, At that moment, Raine came up. She had a smug look on her face. As if it was all a weird show. “He can't be missing,” she said, taking the paper away from Damon. As soon as she said that, I turned to look at her. Wait, am i dumb? Kai was my own son! I haven't seen him ever since the broad dàylight. I rushed out of the room, making my way towards Kai's and Luna's room. The whole marble and dazzling, and also sprawling room seem to have left me behind while I kept running. As soon as I got to their room, I froze. My jaw dropped. My hands flew above my mouth, tears flooded my eyes instantly. My knees gave way and I fell on them almost immediately. I felt the cold as it shrank into my skin. A strong metallic smell filled the air. I stared at the whole room at how messed up it was, but that wasn't devastating at all. I stared at the floor as Kai and Luna both lied there in the pool of their own blood. “Ah!!” I screamed.
