Elara's Pov
“F**k” he cursed again, stumping his fist against the cold guardrail. I watched as he gritted his teeth.
“ Duties always make it with the wrong timing.” He gritted his teeth.
A wide smirk tugged across my lips as I watched as he acted like a new born. Yeah, it was a real fact. Duties always decide to make it in the wrong time.
We never ever get to spend our wonderful time without worrying about duties getting in the way. I watched as he stumbled into the room quickly getting dressed.
I also jumped down from the guardrail, trailing behind him, as we both made our ways towards the door.
As soon as he swung the door open, Raine bursted in. She was panting like she had been running a 1000meter race. I could just stare at her, brows furrowed questionably.
She pointed her hands towards the door breathing heavily. I watched as she just stood there trying to catch her breath. Almost immediately she took a deep breath.
“ The border is under attack, and the men said it's from Alpha Kade.” She said,
I could just watch in disbelief, my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe what happened. We both kept quiet, trying to process whatever she had said.
Damon turned his head to look at me before turning back to look at Raine. His face said it all, he was angry and he would make sure to make Kade pay for whatever he had done tonight.
“ Gather the warriors,” he said. “ Head straight to the border.” He added,
And immediately, Raine leapt into the air, quickly transforming into a big brown wolf. Almost immediately, she darted out of the room.
I raised my head to look at him. He frowned, his hands clenched into a fist. And as soon as he swung his hands he broke the vase glass beside us. I felt the heat of his rage.
“I will kill Kade,” he said. His body trembled from anger.
“ Hey, calm down.” I said, my voice low.
I raised my hand, patting his face. My mind drifted back to the moment I got back from the hospital. I had seen them together. What were they saying? They were saying something before I got there and that was the least on my concern list then. But now, I think the past needs to come in.
“ Wait, what were you guys saying in the park today?” I asked,
He let out a deep sigh, staring deep into my soul. His anger slowly subside, his face which was once masked with that familiar cold indifference smuggled.
It was as if he wasn't understanding something from the inside, something he needed to understand. He raised his hand to say something, but then he kept quiet again as if he forgot.
“ Actually, I didn't know how we got there.” He said,
“ What?” I asked, brows furrowed.
“ Yeah, it was as if…” he paused, raising his head to look at the distance. “We appeared there.” He said.
“Huh?” I raised my head to look at him.
“ We'll talk about that later,” he said. “ Right now, I need to go check on the border.” He said, his voice low.
Almost immediately, he leapt into the air, cracking bones filled the air. And in the next second, he landed on all fours.
A glistening black wolf stood right in front of me. I patted his wolf's head. Immediately, he darted out of the room. And as soon as he left, I could hear his voice echoing through the hallway.
I let out a deep sigh, lowering my head as I stared at my feet. My mind became filled with multiple thoughts.
Why did Kade attack? What is his plan? What is he trying to do? Questions began playing in my head like a ballad song. Questions I didn't have answers to.
For a moment, I felt my wolf cooed in my head. Same thing it had been doing from the beginning, I really hope I could get to speak to my wolf normally. I just hoped it would come true one day.
I raised my head again, in the next second I slammed the door shut. Walking toward the bed, I pulled my red night gown….
I waited and waited, but Damon never came back. He didn't mind linked me, nor did I even feel him. It was just as if I was in a void.
Suddenly, the temperature in the room quickly deteriorated. I felt the cold chill run down my spine. My breath hitched. My visions became blurry. It was just as if the whole room had changed and I was in the woods.
The once lavender scent was gone, replaced with a soft musky smell of earth. I felt each and every second like a pause in my heart.
Suddenly, the curtains began flying in the air. The windows flew open. Eerily enough, the balcony door slammed shut. The room began echoing.
I could hear tiny voices echoing through the holes of the palace. I turned my head to look around, but there was literally no one. I didn't know where the voice was coming from, not even how the doors snapped. I just understood one thing, this whole palace had become creepy in just one night.
My heart hammered against my ribs, nearly leaping out of my chest. I felt my veins almost popping out of my neck, as my air stood. My vision became blurry, I could feel the cold as it crawled down my guts.
Almost immediately,I darted out of the bed. Running towards the door. Immediately, I twitched the door knob, and as soon as I dragged it. It didn't open. It didn't even bulge.
“ Elara,” I heard my name from all corners of the room.
The voice was barely above a whisper, but I could hear it. It was just like a pre-recorded tape playing by my ear.
I paused for a second, taking a deep breath. And that was when I mustered up the courage. I took the shards from the vase, my hands trembling.
“ Wh.. wh… who's there?” I stuttered.
And at that moment, I felt dumb. Weak. Powerless. It was just as if I was an omega again. And I was never a Luna. And the title was all false. I felt it.
“ It's me,” the voice became louder than the last.
It was a feminine voice, it was familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint where I had heard this voice from. The voice… It sounds familiar.
The smell, that musky damp smell.
I closed my eyes trying to remember where I had heard the voice from, but nothing came and I quickly opened my eyes back.
I took a deep breath, since the voice was communicating, I didn't need to fear. I was a Luna. Yes, I was a Luna..those words became my chant. But, sweats beaded my face, my heartbeat filled the room like it was the only thing that could be heard.
“ Who are you?!” I yelled, my voice loud. Cutting through the night, as the chills remain intact like it was a weapon featured against me.
I quickly got into battle mode, my ears perked up, and at that moment, I didn't feel my wolf anymore. It was just like it had left me alone, alone to face the crisis alone.
“ It never left you my dear,” the voice whispered.
It echoed through the walls of the room. Each word cutting through my chest like a piercing blade.
“ Who are you?” I yelled again.
“ Who I am was never necessary from the beginning.” The voice whispered, “ if only you knew your background.” It said,
I paused, those words were familiar. Someone had told me these same words before. Someone had said it before. Who?
“ What are you… talking..” I paused, turning to look around me. Hoping I would see the face of the person. “ About?” I completed the question.
“ Beware the bread that is only bun in shape, and the child is only child in face. The hungriest deception is the one that wears the skin of your love,” it whispered.
Those words were so familiar. Each word it said were something I had heard before, but I couldn't decipher nor pin point where I had heard them from. It was just like reality was playing a game of chess with me.
“ What do you mean?!” I yelled.
“ It's simple my dear.” It whispered again, “ in nine days you will hear a call from the one who owns you, and in the night your fear will arrive. You will feel alone, but you were never alone.” It said,
Immediately, the whole void was gone. Just like the lady disappeared from wherever she was staying. I darted towards the balcony, hoping to see her.
But, there was no one. No one at all.
“ Hello?” I called, hoping for an answer. But, nothing came in.
I ran back into the house, my legs shaky. I called out again, but still there was no response.
Suddenly, a hand fell right upon my shoulder. And immediately, I froze. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest.
