Brayden pov
She was off. She kept on covering her face with that hood of hers. I was looking at her and I knew Damien noticed as well. There has to be a reason as to why she came to the park today, she just fell in school, she should be in bed getting better not being outside in a park. I had a gut feeling that I should take that hood off and see what's under there or I might regret it. So I did just that, she wasn't paying attention she was too busy watching the others goof around. I took a hold of her hood and pulled it back. What I saw shocked me, her face was black and blue. She had a bruised cheek, her lip was split, her nose was swollen and it might've been broken, her eyes were becoming a bit black and blue. She looked at me with wide eyes, "What the hell Red!" I yelled making the others stop.
She quickly pulled her hood back on, not before Damien got a look at her face, "what happened to your face?"
"nothing," she said
"that isn't nothing Red." He said
By now the others were closer and were watching the scene before them, "Red, you can trust us." I said softly.
She scratched at her arm, "umm, well... I get hit.. at...home" She said. We were all shocked, how could anyone hurt her. She was too nice to get hit. I reached over and pulled her into a hug, she grimaced. I pulled back to look at her, “what else hurts?”
“It's nothing." She replied. She pulled away and sat back where she was. She looked in pain.
I looked over at Damien, he was quiet. Aiden, Ry, and Drew were all silent as well. Damien looked at Aiden and Aiden nodded. Damien walked over to Red and picked her up, she yelped when she was picked up. She breathed out and wrapped her arms around his neck to keep her from falling, “What the hell!” She exclaimed
I grabbed her bag and we started walking to the house. The park wasn't far from us but it had to be far from Red's house and she walked, "Damien put me down!”She yelled. She didn't fight back, I knew if she did it would cause her pain. He only ignored her, which made it worse "Damien! f*****g put me down!" I inwardly smiled, he cared for her. It's so sweet, aww.
Damien pov
I couldn't believe what I saw. Her face was black and blue. Who knew what else she was hiding under her clothes. When I saw her face, I was furious that someone could do that to her. I knew something was wrong when she kept pulling on that damn hood. It brings back memories, I push them back. I can deal with that later. Right now she was yelling at me to put her down, I looked over at Aiden. He was like the other brother to each of us, he knew our pasts. He gave me a reassuring look. I nodded and turned back to Red, "No. I am not gonna put you down so deal.”I told her.
She mumbled under her breath. Our home was a simple two story house, the outside was painted a light grey, with the shutters and everything painted white. Ry opened the door and held it open so I could walk in. I sat her down on the black couch, Aiden knew that we would be making a mess, you know how many times we got this couch dirty with something and you could never tell unless you were the one who did it. Bray set her bag down next to her and sat on one side of her, I sat on the other. Ry sat on the floor, Drew was on the bean bag chair and Aiden was standing. Red was playing with that necklace with the shooting star on it, I’ve never seen her take it off, "can you show us?" Aiden asked from where he was at.
She nodded and pulled her hood off. We sucked in a breath, I had only gotten a glimpse of her face before she put her hood up when we were at the park. But now seeing it, it was a lot worse, her lip was busted, there was caked blood on it, her cheek was bruised and it kinda looked like a handprint, her nose was swollen and it must’ve been broken, her eyes were turning black and blue from the nose. Its gonna hurt like a b***h in the morning, "is your nose broken?" Drew asked
“It was. I just put it back in place." she shrugged. It was like we were talking about the weather when she said she just put her nose back in place.
“Anywhere else?" Aiden said
She hesitated before pulling up her sweatshirt and shirt showing us her midsection, which was wrapped up, "Damien, you can take it off." she told me
I took the tape off one end and unwrapped it revealing a giant bruise on her stomach, she turned and there was another bruise on her back. They looked painful, "do they hurt much?" I asked
“It's not as bad as it looks." she said, "it's just bruised ribs.”
I wrapped her back up and looked at her, she looked in pain but she hid it well. If she wasn't in this state none of us would've known this was happening. I got up and went into the kitchen, I grabbed an ice pack, a bottled water, and some aspirin. I went back into the living room handing her the medicine and the water, she smiled before taking them. I handed her the ice pack,
“For your nose," I told her. She nodded and smiled before putting it on her nose, she pulled her shirt down and looked at us.
We were all silent before Aiden spoke up, "I think you should stay here, Red.”
She shook her head, "I should go.”
“No Red," Aiden walked over and took her hand, being the adult, "you should stay and you will. You don't have to explain anything to us but let us help.”
“I shouldn't, really." She cleared her throat, "I have to get back home." She stood and was grabbing her bag.
“I think you should stay." I said, she looked at me, I thought of something, she wasn't gonna do what I think she was, "Red, why were you in the park?”
“I wanted to get some fresh air," she stated
I looked at her, she was lying, "I want the truth.”
Her eyes widened, then she sighed knowing she wasn't gonna get out of this, "I was gonna stay the night there." she whispered
“That's dangerous Red!" Bray shouted
She put her bag on her shoulder, and smiled walking to the door, "I did it before." She opened the door before she stepped out she said, "home is more dangerous Bray." Then she shut the door.
I looked at everyone, we were all shocked. She could've stayed here but she didn't. She's being abused yet she left. I looked at Aiden, "what do we do?”
He looked at me, "I don't know. All I can think of is to watch out for her, and be there when she needs us." He looked at the door, "and by the looks of it, it's gonna be soon.”
