Chapter 7

Anna went with Christian to the gym. Once there, he went to the training grounds and Anna met with her personal trainer. He would teach her self defense, boxing and help get her into even better shape. Her session with him was brutal, but she knew she needed it. She would meet with him every other day for as long as she needed. Christian wasn't home for dinner at all for the next two weeks. He would come in late, shower and crawl into bed with her. In the morning he'd kiss her and leave before she was out of bed. "Christian, we haven't spent any time together in weeks. Can you please make some time for me?" she finally asked. She felt like they were growing apart and she was desperate to keep that from happening. Christian was about to walk out the bedroom door early one morning. "I'm sorry I've been so busy. I'll come home in time for dinner tonight, I promise." "Thank you," she smiled. Suddenly excited. They would finally get to spend time together! The day couldn't go by fast enough. She cleaned their home, did some paperwork, met with her trainer and went for a walk. The hours still drug by. But finally, it was dinner time. She wore a sexy red dress and styled her hair the way he liked it. His jaw hit the floor when he came in that night. "Anna... you're beautiful." "Thank you," she said with a smile. "I'm just.... going to go shower. I'll be right out." He quickly showered and changed. He took her hand and walked her down the dining hall. Heads turned as they entered the room and sat down. "You look too good to just eat at the packhouse. I should've taken you out." She blushed. "I dress for you. I don't care where we are." "Well... in that case, let's eat and head back upstairs." Anna's stomach flipped with excitement. They had almost finished their meal when Vera entered. She glared at Anna as she walked toward them. "Chrstian, you were supposed to be at training tonight." He glanced at her for only a second. "I'm the Alpha, I go where I'm needed." He looked at Anna and smiled. "I'm needed with my wife." Vera stomped her foot. "I was going to watch you traaaaiiiinn!" she said in a voice more whiny than a toddler's. Christian stood and looked down at Vera. She shrank back. "You're interrupting our meal. I suggest you leave and rethink ever questioning your Alpha again." Vera looked shocked at his sharp tone. She turned and fled the room. "I'm sorry about that," he apologized. "Has she been visiting your training? No one is allowed to do that. I'm not even privy to your training techniques." "She stops by sometimes. She's new again, she just needs a friend." "Christian, are you serious?" He shrugged. "I didn't expect you to get so jealous." "You've been letting a guest see things your Luna doesn't get to see. How do you not see a problem?" "Come on, it's not that serious." "If it's not that serious, then why haven't you told me I could've come see you at any point these last few weeks?" Tears pricked at the back of her eyes. "Anna, be reasonable, please." She put her fork down and slapped her napkin onto the table. She stood and left the room, when she got to the stairs she ran up and slammed the door behind her. He'd been seeing Vera more than he'd been seeing his own wife! Did he even miss her? She was so hurt and angry. As tears ran down her face she pulled off her dress and put an old T-shirt and shorts on. She left out a back door. When she got to the woods, she shifted into her wolf and let her run. "He's not cheating on you," her wolf said. "He might be emotionally. He's certainly pushing the limits," Anna said. "He is. I understand that. But he hasn't touched her. I would feel if he had. I don't think he's so much as hugged her." "That's only a little comforting. He didn't listen to me... he doesn't see what I do." "She's a fox," her wolf said with disgust. "She can snake her way into his mind and shift his thoughts. She can warp his sense of reality over time." "He's still in charge of his own actions." "We need to watch that woman, we need to get her out of this pack," her wolf said. "That we agree on." They ran for hours. Finally, Anna shifted back and dressed before returning to the packhouse. She slipped through the back again and went upstairs. She knew before she opened her bedroom door that Christian was inside waiting for her. "You went for a run?" he asked. She nodded. "I understand you're upset." "Do you understand why I'm upset?" He nodded. "I can see why you'd think how you do." She squinted at him. "I'm not convinced." "Look, I shouldn't have let her into the training area. Its against the rules. I let her have access to something you don't. I shouldn't have done it. She came to me crying. She just needed a safe place to chill for a bit." "How many times?" "Three or four times over the last couple of weeks." "It will stop." He sighed. "Yes, it will stop. I'm sorry." Anna went into the bathroom to shower and change. She locked the door to make sure Christian knew he wasn't welcome. When she woke the next morning, Christian was already gone.
