ADRIANA’S POV   After Carson left, I found Daniel curled up on my bed, clutching the blankets in his sleep. I hadn’t realized how much I missed him until that moment. Still, I found it hard to fall asleep myself. Memories of my past haunted me, replaying endlessly. It was a small mercy not to have to relive the few hours I had blocked out. The ones I had come to realize would break me if I wasn’t strong enough to handle it. I knew those moments held the fate of my parents and I wasn’t sure I was ready to face it. Daniel’s small frame was pressed against my side, reminding me it wasn’t just I who lost them. Somehow, I had to explain this all to Daniel. He deserved to know the truth too.
