Chapter 3: A Missed Opportunity

Seeing an elderly lady struggling with her wheelchair in front of the elevator, Ye Chen Xi approached to help, pushing her into the elevator.

"Ma'am, where would you like to go? I can assist you," Ye Chen Xi offered.

Mrs. Liu Junyan sized up the girl before her. Although she was dressed modestly, it couldn't hide her natural elegance and delicate features.

"Thank you, young lady. I'd like to go to the garden for a stroll," Mrs. Liu replied.

"Why aren't your family members accompanying you?" Ye Chen Xi inquired, noticing the concern in Mrs. Liu's eyes.

"I wanted to go out for a walk, but they wouldn't let me, so I sneaked out," Mrs. Liu confessed with a mischievous smile.

Ye Chen Xi chuckled, seeing the old lady's childlike behavior reminded her of her own grandparents. She hadn't visited them in a while and wondered how they were doing.

"You shouldn't be out alone, ma'am. It's safer with someone accompanying you," Ye Chen Xi advised.

Impressed by Ye Chen Xi's sincerity, Mrs. Liu said, "Well then, since we've met today, would you mind accompanying me for a while?"

Ye Chen Xi hesitated but couldn't find a reason to refuse. "Alright, I have some free time this afternoon."

On reaching the ground floor, Ye Chen Xi pushed Mrs. Liu to the garden, engaging in small talk as they went around.

"Could you park me by that bench? Please have a seat and rest as well," Mrs. Liu suggested, noticing Ye Chen Xi's effort.

Once settled, Mrs. Liu took a closer look at Ye Chen Xi and seemed pleased.

"So, young lady, what's your name? And how old are you?" Mrs. Liu asked.

"I'm Ye Chen Xi, 23 years old," Ye Chen Xi replied without hesitation.

"Oh, 23! Do you have a boyfriend?" Mrs. Liu asked.

"Yes, I do," Ye Chen Xi smiled.

Hearing this, Mrs. Liu felt a bit disappointed. "What a shame!"

Thinking of her two grandsons, she sighed, "Could you please take me back to my room?"

Sensing Mrs. Liu's mood, Ye Chen Xi obliged without probing further.

Seeing Mrs. Liu return safely, Song Yi felt relieved. "Are you alright, Mrs. Liu?"

"I'm fine. I just went out for a stroll," Mrs. Liu reassured him.

"Mrs. Liu, if you had taken longer, I would've called the main house," Song Yi expressed his concern.

"No need to inform them. If they find out, they'll just nag me again," Mrs. Liu replied dismissively.

Listening to their conversation, Ye Chen Xi realized Song Yi was Mrs. Liu's servant.

She squatted down, "Ma'am, since your staff is here, I'll take my leave. Please take care."

Mrs. Liu held Ye Chen Xi's hand, "Although you have a boyfriend, I really like you. Would you visit me sometime?"

Ye Chen Xi hesitated for a moment before smiling, "If you don't mind, I'd be happy to."
