When we reach the apartment, I wait for everyone to get out of the car before I get out with Aiden. I told the others to go up first, especially since there are a lot of younger kids there, and they may need some guidance for hiding and such.
Aiden now knows about the plan, which is fine, though it’s also interesting to see him excited about it all, to see that excitement on his face.
He looks my way, smiling. “You know it’s not a surprise party when you’ve already told me about there being a party, right?”
I pull him against me. “I don’t mind. It’s not the party itself that was supposed to be the surprise.” Instead, it’s the people that I invited, the people I was able to get here on such a short notice.
