Chapter 1
On the 99th floor, my husband held me against the floor-to-ceiling window, completely wrapped up in each other.
For three straight days, he seemed tireless, refusing to stop even when I begged him to let me rest.
Two months later, I was pregnant with quadruplets.
Shocked and overjoyed, I clutched the medical report, eager to share the news with him.
Then unexpectedly, I overheard War and his friends conspiring.
"War, your plan is brilliant—making her carry our children so she'll feel guilty and obey you forever."
"Exactly, she'll never dare target Claire again."
"The timing should be right—is she pregnant yet?"
War's calm voice cut through the noise.
"The hospital just called. Eve's pregnant with quadruplets."
The private room erupted in waves of gasps.
"Holy s**t, quadruplets? I'm the man!"
"Get lost, those are clearly mine. Don't celebrate being cucked."
"Bullshit, I was with her the most—they're mine."
"Enough arguing. Let's place bets—who wants in?"
"Fine, I'll bet ten grand. It's mine!"
"Same here—ten grand on me!"
After placing wagers, someone suggested another possibility.
"What if we all fathered them? Four babies—one each?"
"Then someone's left out, huh?"
Bursts of crude laughter filled the room.
Frozen at the door, a chill ran down my spine.
Staring at the report in my trembling hands, my face went deathly pale.
What did this mean? The babies... weren't War's?
Then who was with me those three days?
A woman's voice interrupted, dripping with false concern.
"If Eve learns the truth... wouldn't that be too cruel?"
I recognized her—Claire Lynn, the impoverished student War sponsored.
His friends chimed in,
"Claire, you're too soft-hearted."
"After what Eve did to you? She deserves this."
"She had you shipped away, even had people... you know... I wouldn't go near her naked unless it was to shame her."
"A b***h like her doesn't deserve any pity. Right, War?"
I stood paralyzed.
It was Claire herself who came to me, saying she wanted to study abroad. So I gave her money and arranged for her overseas transfer.
Yet unexpectedly, she was dragged into an alley and subjected to brutal torment.
When rescued, she was covered in injuries from head to toe.
Everyone accused me—claiming I'd exiled her out of jealousy and tried to destroy her.
No matter how hard I tried to explain, nobody believed me.
Only War said he didn't blame me, calling it just an accident.
A sliver of hope flickered in my heart.
The room plunged into silence before War's icy voice cut through.
"This is nothing compared to what she's done."
"A wicked woman like her gets what she deserves."
The hope in my heart shattered. I staggered back two steps.
I wanted to flee, but my feet seemed rooted.
I bit my lip until blood filled my mouth, tears streaming down my face.
His trust had been lies all along.
Pretending to believe me while secretly taking revenge—avenging Claire.
My heart squeezed as if gripped by an invisible hand.
The voices continued when War's Friend chimed in.
