It took everything in me not to call out for Jude as he walked away. He didn't want to. I could see it on his face, but I didn't. I didn't want to call him back only to be grilled about the evidence Beau left on me from the night before.
“What's going on?" Nellie asked as we sat there in the tension.
“I had a big fight with Beau. It's nothing. Really. Jude is just overreacting," I tried to dismiss, but I could tell Nellie wasn't falling for it.
“No, babes, That was Jude holding back. You forget I know him too," Nellie reminded me, and I winced at the failed attempt.
“I'll fill you in later. I need to get to work. I am already late," I dismissed again, and she let it drop this time.
She smiled softly at me before leaving my cubicle
